For those interested the instrumental improvisation at the end is a traditional song called Cumberland Gap. The titles make a natural followup to Cumberland Blues
This might be the most incredibly talented group of musicians anywhere. I'm an old Deadhead myself, and it was a thrill to first hear them do it last year at DelFest, which of course is in Cumberland MD. This is one of my favorite Grateful Dead tunes, and it is cool to hear it played by guys who sing as well as these. A wonderful anecdote by lyricist Robert Hunter: he said an actual coal miner once observed to him, "I wonder what the guy who wrote this song would think if he heard a band like the Grateful Dead perform it." Hunter took that as a great compliment.
Jerry would be giggling and wanting to join in. 👍
WOW! Jerry's spirit has to be loving this.

i appreciate that
I was hoping they’d go into that one☀️
I live 5 minutes from the town of Cumberland Gap and would give anything if some bigger bluegrass names would come play around here
Jerry and the rest of the boys would be proud! Bravo!

This is cool. If Jerry had ever brought his banjo out on stage at a GD show, this would have been the song for it.

That's Alan Bartram on the bass.
we always think he looks a little like Tom Hanks in his younger years. LOL
This is awesome and would be a million times better if that guy's bass were mixed in.

What's the 2nd tune? Katy Hill? Boy, it's brisk.
Cumberland Gap!
Now, if only they did their version of teen spirit.
