    That's pretty slick. I was under the impression that x,y was always set to the lower left due to easel limitations. Thanks for the video!

    Do you have any videos using easel with the foxalien 4040xe? My cuts are not matching up to my design and easel preview.

      Yes, go to the FOXAlien playlist. I recently made some right angle clamps. Have you calibrated your machine?

      I cannot get a fully corrected project, something always messes up? Either a letter runs into another or a corner engraving will be offset even though everything in the easel preview shows perfect. I’ve gone through $60 worth of wood and still have yet to complete the plaque I’m trying to make

      I’m trying to engrave a 12x15 plaque for a friend who’s about to have a baby. Been trying for a week. 8 hour long project on the foxalien 4040xe just to have something go wrong towards the end is frustrating.

      What are you feed rates and depth per pass? Also, what bit are you using to carve? Wood type? Sounds like you are losing steps

      @@PawPawsWorkShop pine wood .75 inch thick. Feed rate slowed down to 90% which I thing is 38 inches per minute. Never messed with depth per pass. Just leave it alone on automatic in easel. I did change the spindal speed from 12000 to 10000 in easel.

    I watch a lot of your videos . I have an x-carve been using it for 3 + years I just finished watching your Surfacing video. my question is not related but I was wondering How you get the machine to return to work setup. Every time I hit the home button It homes correctly But when I hit the work button it sends it off on a diagonal to the top right and to crash I have to hit the stop. Is there a way . can you help? Sam

    Thanks for sharing! I found this video after noticing you set your X/Y to the center on another video and I wondered why. I see how to do it now, but I still don't understand why you want to set the zero to the center? What is the pro of doing so vs. using the default at the lower left corner?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will move my x,y position anywhere that will help me do the project easier. It may be in the center to ensure that the project is exactly in the center of the board. It maybe anywhere that you want to put it. It all depends of the project. When I did the pledge on the flag, the text of the first three lines I used the center of the board on the y axis. That position is rarely used but it worked great for that project. Thank you very much.

    Thank you for sharing this. It was very useful. I have my homing physical contacts on my X-Carve board set to 1 and 1 right now. So, every time that I start the machine, it will automatically go to that location. So, let's say I have the same circle on the middle of my work as well and have set my center coordinates to zero and zero accordingly. Would I have to manually set the x and y to the middle of the work to start with? You clearly showed how it would work but the router was always set at the assigned zero's when you start the drawing. Sorry about my confusion but would you please share this with me/us too?

    Your info was a little wrong, you have End Stops installed on the front side of the Y Plate, that would trigger once the Y Axis tried moving beyond it's limit and it would send a signal to the controller to stop, if working properly.
    You could wire a End Stop for both ends of an axis to prevent it from going out of bounds on either end. That is a little more advanced.
    Overall Good Job!

      You are correct in that I have the micro switches installed but I do not use them at all. I know a lot of people do and have success but for me I do not want the machine to get that close to the edge ever.

    Excellent video!!! Just wondering where you got the device to hold (presumably) a Sharpie??? It looks like a 3D print fabrication??? Do you have that capability in addition to your X-Carve???

      The pen holder for designed by another person who shared the filed with me and my son printed it for me. You may go to designsbyphil.com to see what he has available.
