This was the Ansonia Mall up until the early 2000s. The Big Y relocated to the Derby Caldor's that walmart took over in 2000. Ansonia sucks, the Target is almost like a troll.
Lol nice, I film the Tri state area. NJ (my home state), NY, CT and PA. I never really been to another state before, maybe in the future I'll do Delaware and Maryland. We shall see haha
How are you TD3? The area with the funky tile was the bottle return room. This store closed before covid. I work at one of the Big Y in Connecticut. Our hours before covid was 10pm every night. Every store closes at 9pm now.
It was so sad when it closed, but I get it. My background: I trained at the Ansonia Big Y briefly in 2016 before moving to the Shelton store. No more than a few weeks. The Shelton store had just been made at the time, so we all to train at different locations. I no longer work at Big Y, and thankfully only had to be there less than a year before getting a better job. The people in Ansonia were nice enough. Regular store employees. There was a lot of theft from customers though, compared to my time at the Shelton store. Homeless people were outside a lot as well. All sitting in a row. This store wasn't in the worst location ever, but the Derby store is in a nicer area, closer to Orange, where I assume a lot of their customers come from. Big Y is expensive, and the Ansonia store wasn't close enough to a richer community to get business. Also, I feel like the Shelton store probably took any of the customers heading that way.
Big Y looks like A&P or Stop & Shop, the way how the exterior design of the store is. I never shopped in a Big Y, they don't have them here in NJ cause it's only in CT and MA
I used to work there a long time ago, Kind of surprised to see it closed down after all this time. I had this Manager Jamican fella He used to scream out, "Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez Brotha!" he was pretty cool. Yepp good times, good times.
4:39 this area is a bottle return section of the stores by the way
Ah I see, it was just awkward by me looking at that lol
Holy ish you're derped, that tiled room was the bottle return room, the guy that ran it still works at the Derby relocation store.
How should I know? I never been to that place before lol
Meat or Seafood Dept 😂

Target is the closest thing nowadays that resembles Caldor in a way, I like Target way more than Walmart
This guy is really doing the tour through my Valley, I live right down the street from this place!

Damn, how the times have changed. The pandemic really messed up a lot of things, now at this point I don't even care anymore about it
Nice grocery market
Yeah, it's a shame they closed. Hope it becomes a ShopRite or an Acme
Good video
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
@@TimurD1905 thank you

I hear the nearby "projects" were the death of this store and people were afraid to stop it. Shame.
So the projects nearby you're referring to, did they have crime involved there?
Absolutely, the city is afraid of making a stand against the soft crime of shoplifting.

They relocated in Derby, CT. I think some tenants want to move into the former location as I read online about this closed Big Y
I recorded this 2 years ago, and wow I was in shock
And this closed on December 15, 2019
I'm not in shock so much, I've filmed so many places that it's just the norm for me now
I've been holed up in the house all day watching football wondering when you were going to get to work and post.
Well there you go lol. I been watching World Cup soccer ever since the tournament began haha
At least a little inside shots I understand
They really didn't get much sunlight inside that place lol
Do closed toys r us in freehold nj
It's actually an Ocean State Job Lot now, I tried filming this place like last year in 2021 and was bummed out about it lol
Big Y moved to Derby, Connecticut
Isn't that next to the abandoned IGA?
@@TimurD1905 They moved to where Klarides used to be on route 34
@@pollypurree1834 Klarides, never heard of that place? What is that?
@@TimurD1905 It was a supermarket next to a Walmart. There is a McDonalds and Heavenly Donuts in the lot also.
I saw u there
Really, where were you?

Do closed toys r us in brooklyn new york
Would be a nice video but the location is a problem for me, Brooklyn isn't the safest place to film at. So I'm gonna pass on this, thanks anyway
