the past years i only consumed super shred content (which i still do and is great, because i am a metal shredder), but i see now how refreshing it is to listen too other guitar players that play mainly other styles of music. content like yours help me to view the guitar and what i play from a different angle. this helps alot. thank you
Great ideas Sivan. Thanks. I imagine you've heard this before but in case you haven't - you have a very soothing and calming voice. It goes well with your teachings.
This was a help for me :) i ended up losing a bunch of identity and exploration for myself with music since music school; your videos are helping get it back! Or rather, im allowing myself to feel it again, thank you!
My favorite is understand while you're listening. All great points Rotem! 😊 Thank you for your very soulful approach to teaching. I love your passion 👍
Excellent guitar video! I've thought or felt many of these things but this is the first time I've seen them articulated. It's advice that goes a long way. Thanks Rotem!
Can't wait to get the new album! Is it on Bandcamp? Love the reminder about focused practice and using a timer. I have one for my work but plan to get another for practice time. I recently started referring to myself as a musician and it really has changed how I thought about myself and how I operate in the world. It's helped improve my dedication to practice and it's helped me feel a little more confident. To be true, I have a hobby playing guitar. But seeing myself as more than a hobbyist has really made a difference. Thanks!
Hello Rotem!, Hello everyone! I have a few weeks of vacation ahead of me. During that time I want to focus on guitar practice. I was in doubt as to how to approach the practice. After this video along with last week's I have a clearer idea of how to do it. Thank you!! Peace and love to all!
Some people really understand music but don’t have true fluency on an instrument. Plenty of people know an instrument brilliantly but don’t understand music at that deep quantum level where it works. The people who have both are rare and precious. Totem is one.
Putting a play along app on a fixed times of repetitions instead of a continuous loop helps me to think more of a structure / song instead of noodling around. But using a timer to excercise a certain scale would make the whole proces less fun. I’ll focus more on progression then on time. The singing i do silent. Like when you sing a song in you’re headspace. Wonder if that has the same effect on linking the sound of you’re voice to the sound of you’re instrument.
Hello Rotam, a fan from Taiwan, just wanted to interact with you few mins ago when you were on live streaming, I've watched lots of your videso, thank you very much for all sharings, actually...I've playing guitar for almost 10 yrs, I can almost understand those theory and technics you talk about in the videos, but I'm still stuggling on how to make owm music, could you pls. share some of your opinion😅😅 how did you do it? thanks again for all the sharing it had been so helpful!
@@RotemSivanGuitarrussians usually think that everyone is obliged to speak russian, they jab their russian everywhere. I am Georgian but I am not putting my language everywhere... or you did not write the answer in Hebrew right... but russians don't want to understand that, they think they are supperrior. This chennel is not about politics but I wish your country to quickly find and punish all those guilty ones that committed unheard crimes against Israel and took hostages reacently.
Awesome lesson. I can't call myself a musician without the proper amount of humiliation, like in the movie Whiplash, and some certification that indicates I am a musician; this is the American way.
Got this more or less from Victor Wooten: The guitar is only a tool, through which music plays you. You don’t “play the guitar” anymore that you “write a pencil” or “paint a paintbrush.” The guitar is just a means to the end, which is music.
which one is your favorite?
Nearly 20 years strumming the guitar, and I've never called myself a musician. I just did, and it felt good . Thank you ❤
❤️ so happy to hear that!
really helps to play bass for a few years, bro
you cant play it if you aren't a musician
Peace, man! Thank you!
