What a great video. I was so happy it was an hour long. Thank you for putting notes into the video, too, to let us know what we were seeing. I really appreciated that.
Beautiful plane, but came way to late. with the relaxation of ETOPS, the airlines are loving the fuel savings with twin jets. They've only sold like 3 A380s in the last several years.
+David Horgan I could be wrong but this is the return flight from Germany so it would be more than likely to be full on the way to China and not as many for the return flight.
+David Horgan Actually your very wrong, there are still many a380 orders still to be completed they are constantly finishing planes, a380's among them, emirates and stuff keep ordering more. lufthansa too.
Guuuau,Thanks is awesome, I would like to know the 2 levels in the air bus but the travel is awesome Thanks for the film and letme know this incredible jet.
May I ask why the sound keeps changing throughout the video? I really loved it when I could hear that in surround-sound. I would have been able to hear those engines much more, especially during takeoff. The sound is canned and slightly muffled. Then, it opens up again which is wonderful. Could you please keep the sound wide open like it became? I guess you filmed the takeoff from two different vantage points? I don't know, because I'm totally blind, and I love to hear the sound of those engines. It's terrific when it's wide open like it is during that second takeoff point. I know when it closes up again during the announcements about the meal options that you must have a reason. I love the speakers on the A-380.
Of course the Chinese train which you used and the ICE looks similar because they are the same model. And German High speed trains are as fast as the Chinese.... but not from Frankfurt to Leipzig as these tracks are 150 years old and winding along the landscape. But if you take Frankfurt towards Cologne the speed is the same 300km/h
Will be flying a Lufthansa A380 from Hong Kong to Frankfurt on my return leg in just over a month's time. Is it really that quiet? The only previous long-haul flight I have done before was a Continental 757 from Heathrow to Newark. That was noisy!
What would you say is the most common language spoken on a flight like this? Is English the common denominator? Do the Chinese tend to speak English or their own language on board? And do the flight attendants speak Mandarin or another dialect?
+mrtodd3620 chinese almost always chinese to their fellow countrymen; however, a lot of people from germany fly for business; most interactions there will be in german
The timing and the daylight is confusing me, you landed like 6 pm which is dark, then you get on the train at late daybreak close to sunset, can u clarify if you got on the train early the morning after the landing or what or did you spend the night on the train?
Why would lufthansa operate such a large aircraft between these locations if there is not enough customer demand to fill even half the seats. Why not operate an a330 or a340? Im just curious.
some months are really slow between China and Europe; Moreover, a lot of overcapacity exists in the marketplace, after Hainan, Eastern, Southern, Xiamen and Air China have started countless of routes into Europe in the last years; even Austrian has launched a Shanghai service recently; thus, its difficult for Lufthansa to fill with whalejet with enough high yield pax
+doc7austin this is really interesting because I see this trend around the world now. I'm from Chicago and Im an avid "planes spotter" and I've noticed the (north america-europe) and (north america-asia) markets become heavily over saturated. I mean for God's sake both Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airlines operate to Tokyo every day from chicago! all Nippon operates two flights to Chicago a day!!!! new airlines that have started to fly to O'Hare in the past 5 years include China Eastern, Hainan, Emirates, Austrian, Cathay Pacific, korean, and believe asiana. It's truly remarkable how fast this all happened. Just a decade ago if you wanted to fly overseas from ORD, especially if you were traveling to the Orient, you either took united or American. to say things have changed would be a a vast understatement. anyway thanks for the video. amazing production quality; you really deserve more attention to your Channel.
The fact that the flight was near empty was not due to a pilot strike. It is because people are not that interested in going to china anymore. I think a much smaller plane is in order for a trip like is as Lufthansa is just wasting money on flying this massive plane to places without much traffic.
Larger planes usually experience less turbulence, because they have a higher mass; thus, it takes more energy (shifting winds) to bounce a large aircraft around
Every flight as turbulence. The question is how rough. Most flights have, at most, mild, barely noticeable turbulence. Bigger planes, and more modern planes with flexible wing spans experience usually less in similar conditions.
How much dough do Lufthansa lose on a flight like this ? They must use around 180,000 ltrs of fuel on an 11 hour half empty flight. WTF ? Mind you, Air France once flew JFK to CDG using a Concorde with only 6 passengers.
airplanes hurt the environment badly. Every flight uses tons of fuel. Just imagine how many flights take place every day in the world, year after year, and what they do to the environment!
Something about flying at night always seems more enjoyable for some odd reason
you feel that to huh i agree with u
Till takeoff, yeah. But once up, the view is much more appealing during the day.
What a NICE plane,it takes off and lands nice. Its real quiet and smooth.I guess because of its size.
I was in that United Airlines B777-200ER that came in from Newark! Thanks for filming it! Finally I have a favorite video ever!😆😆
What a great video. I was so happy it was an hour long. Thank you for putting notes into the video, too, to let us know what we were seeing. I really appreciated that.
It was like watching a travel documentary. Beautiful video! Awesome!!!!!
Well done, mate! Well edited... great!
Fantastic!!!!! Great video. Really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see more of your video travels.
+danny1966 You are right. That sunset was really amazing!

Lovely onboard footage enjoyed watching very much! Hope to fly this route sometime in the future :-D
+Traveller The A380 is always awesome... :)

Very, very nice video. Thanks!
great flying in Jet.I flew Kathmndu to London in Qatar Air ways.7 years back.
Enjoyed your video but it would have been nice to see your second food and beverage service....thanks!
Flying an empty plane like the A380 must be a huge loss for Lufthansa.
Beautiful plane, but came way to late. with the relaxation of ETOPS, the airlines are loving the fuel savings with twin jets. They've only sold like 3 A380s in the last several years.
+David Horgan Yes, that's really sad... I think all the world love the A380 except the economic departments of the airlines. haha
+ScottyGoesNoot No at the time of his comment he was quite correct. He was referring to orders accumulated during the last few years not the backlog.
Very nice thanks for all the info in the video and in the description :)
Excelent video, great work !!
Classic video clip of Lufthansa A380 empty flight take off out of Shanghai
I miss going to Europe. A lot.

Thanx....nice film.I enjoyed that....+ 1 like from me.
The Best Video!! Why was everything at Frankfurt cancelled?..
+dannysflying Good question..
very nice video!!! tks for sharing!
Why have your camera angles and zoom timing suddenly paralleled flight simulators? Could we be attempting to blur reality and simulation?
Guuuau,Thanks is awesome, I would like to know the 2 levels in the

incredible jet.
I love Lufthansa
It is very nice !

27 viewers are jealous. :)
Thanks for the video, great footage and info!
Great video! Wow, the take off is really quiet! Or, did you cover the microphone? If it's that quiet, then WOW again.
Pedro Perez The Trent 970 engines are very quiet; moreover, the A380 cabin has a very good sound insulation
+doc7austin indeed! 380 take off is the best flying experience - with that quiet humming sound of engines, sheer music to ears.
what seat is this please reply I will be flying same plane soon

+Willy Kaemena All train tracks in eastern Germany are winding and sort of bending left and right with the land contours.
Ich war dabei. 👍
why didn't you ask for an upgrade since it was quite an empty flight?
+sin801 why would Lufthansa give me a free upgrade?
+doc7austin An upgrade can be by paying it, not only for free! :)
wow was the screen showing real time video feed while taking off?
+Nijing Feng yes, the LH A380 offers a live feed from three angles
Why were there so many cancelled flights?
just one thing: "Take Off from Runway 34L; length 3,800ft / 12,467m"
it should be the other way round - 12,467 ft is abut 3,800 metres
yes, you are right; i mixed up the units
fantastic!!
Annotation at 4:42 - "One United Boeing 744-400 Ghetto-Bird is resisting.."
What do you mean by ghetto?
+Mega M United Boeing 747-400 have a very old cabin in Economy Class - no PTV!
nice
Its either a 747-400 or a 744 but not 744-400 ;)
THE BEST !!!
This might need a correction: "Take Off from Runway 34L; length 3,800ft / 12,467m" - one meter is quite longer than one foot.
yes, you are right; I get the two units mixed up from time to time
No. Length 3800 m.
I live in shanghai and the Runway 34L in PVG length 3800m
i love aiplane
This thing is huge

just a cheap sony camera
can you see the tail cam in the cruise alttitude?

yes, the trip in directing Leipzig happened on another day
Really want to go home now, back to China. XD But next time fly with A343 lol
I am wondering what is your job,you travel between China and Germany so many times
方俊 not always Germany, because I am usually only connecting in Frankfurt, Germany
it would have been good to see the standard of food in cow class.
nice!

you film that "start" from monitor????? is that your first flight? do you even watch the you tube how people filming "starts"?
you can see the start/take off scene from two perspectives in my video (first out of the window; second from the monitor)
+ilky Ac (ilk) Try watching the whole video, and not just skip through it. Your comment is rather dumb.
+Kamer Oudste thats not your business !DUMBASS
+ilky Ac (ilk) You don't have to sign your reactions with your real name.
+ilky Ac (ilk) Oh and it IS my business, by the way. Stupid fucks like you annoy me. So that makes it my business.
I laughed at how long it take that pane to take off on the runway. It took forever haha
I like how silent it is
respekt für so ein dunmes video

Never seen too many empty seats. You lucky have three seats for sleep on bed. Where all pax go?
The fact that the flight was near empty was not due to a pilot strike. It is because people are not that interested in going to china anymore. I think a much smaller plane is in order for a trip like is as Lufthansa is just wasting money on flying this massive plane to places without much traffic.
How is that flight LH729 empty though
Coronavirus
We're the Indian airlines and kingfisher airlines...
total flight time?
+equartos around 11.5 hours
Whats pilot strike?
when pilots go on strike to (e.g.) demand a higher salary from their employer
How are the turbulences in such big planes? Were there any throughout your flight?
Larger planes usually experience less turbulence, because they have a higher mass; thus, it takes more energy (shifting winds) to bounce a large aircraft around
doc7austin
Oh okay. Does this also apply for down/updrafts?
+L Blueful yes
Every flight as turbulence. The question is how rough. Most flights have, at most, mild, barely noticeable turbulence. Bigger planes, and more modern planes with flexible wing spans experience usually less in similar conditions.
What's a pilot strike?
the german pilot union (called "cockpit) was striking in late 2014
oh ok thanks
