When pulling injectors, loosen either the feed or return line on the head to let fuel drain. When pulling cups, use a 15/16 ratcheting wrench ($20 from Home Depot) on the big nut, stick a rolling head prybar or screwdriver in a rocker shaft hole to keep the 13mm wrench from moving. You’ll have all cups pulled in 3 minutes.
When I start my truck in the morning and sometimes it doesn't start, the noise comes as if the truck starts now, but it doesn't start, it stops by itself, my truck is 2017 and has 8 lac mileage, if anyone can tell me anything.
When is temperature is very down same problem show me , today I am right now Amarillo tx eh is temperature’s after I trun off my truck and maybe 10 min after I staring again same problem, but right now I press the race pandle after that is start my truck ,

@ 9:00 I would recommend using rubber bands to keep the exhaust plungers from falling out of the rockers when removing the rocker shaft, makes re-installation a lot easier.
I bought the swage tool for installation but welded a tap to a piece of threaded rod and made a bridge to pull old cups and it has been working fine for years now

What about the residue or brush bristles that are falling into the cylinder? What if pieces get between a valve and seat? I see videos saying don't get loose EGR soot into the intake tract. Wouldn't this be the same?
how much would you charge to come to Arizona and teach our yard mechanic how to perform this job. We would pay your flight and hotel . it be nice to have some overhead adjustment videos. Our mechanics are really good with other engines its just Volvo that they avoid any major repairs. For example they did a head gasket on a 13 and had some problems with it. Just day ago pulled out of the Volvo dealer drove 550miles and my coolant starts leaking again pushing it through the injectors, pressurizing the system. Had two full engine rebuilds on two separate trucks, basically every year I need an engine rebuild. Do you think that the injector cup leak issue could cause a future engine failure? Because I have to rebuild whole engine after injector cups leak I don’t know if it could be connected in anyway but it seems like coolant washes out cylinder oil and engine running dry long enough and after the leak fix that cylinder locks up and drops rod destroying entire engine. Idk 🙈

My injectors seem to work fine but i have bubbles in the fuel tank comming out of return line. Also long starts. And my last trip i had severe vibration under heavy load. Not sure i that was caused by leaking cups or just clogged fuel filter. Was no vibration when drove home empty for over 500mi. Also how much you charge for injector work, do you give waranty for how long. And how much are injectors from the dealer. I have the tool for pulling cups from ebay slightly different than yours but same principal. Have you heard if those work ok. Im thinking how to fix my truck cobsidering all possible options. hey i have a 2007 volvo d670 10 speed D13 ENGINE my truck set about 2 years and my truck was running good when i originally park it....and it has about 1/2 tank of fuel in it ..so i got ready to start the truck up after 2 years of sitting and got some new batteries in it and it started right up idling beautiful i go to drive it and its if i dont have no power it takes along time to get to 50mph and i have the gas pedal to the floor ..i changed the two filters and put some additive in it i put howes and lucas injector cleaner and fuel conditioner in i went back out to test drive it .and it seemed to be alittle better i was able to get 60 mph but it still taking along time to get there i drove about 90 miles.but it still doing the same thing it is not smoking it but it is actually running good but i dont have no power...there is no code lights on..do you think i need to put somemore additive in it and drive it more..

If they are in good shape, you don't have to replace them, and you can replace only ones that/if they are bad. Only reason they are recommended to change in a set is Labor Time (Money), since you would have to do everything again to change injectors in case they fail soon after you install new cups.
Greetings. I changed the injector cups and left the same injectors because they were good. gauge too. and now when i turn this on for more than 2 minutes the accelerator pedal doesn't respond. what could have happened?
Hey question, my truck is taking forever to start (d13) and it stays misfiring. I got some bubbles in the tank. But her i open the the priming pump it came lose. Do you think its soaking air ? Or my problem is injectors and cups?
Could be a few things, cups most likely on this engine but will need diagnose by mechanic, could also be filter housing or check valve or hole in fuel line
the steel sleeves are miles better than the origional copper sleeves. 9/10 times you would either pull the tip out with the old tool that threaded through the tip, or you would pull the sleeve and the tip would stay in the head :D
Sorry I forgot to ask you another question!! Are injector cups come in 2 different kind of material ?? Like in the past they were made by hard plastic or metal which metals lasted longer ! Is that right? Are metal ones do better than un metal injector cups ? ( quality wise ) Thanks man

When taking the rockershaft loose you should have pulled the rear 18 mm bolt and all the front 13mm bolts then loosened all the rear 13mm bolts in stages. With the plungers on the exhaust brake rockers before you put the lifting tool on you can use old red or green orings and put them around the plunger and the rocker to hold the plunger so you can keep them in place. And the cup pulling tool can stay together I use the same one and dont take it apart. And your cup swedging tool should be updated to the new style. Just my input from another volvo/mack tech

Not really necessary unless the injectors were the problem! Volvo doesn't use high pressure rail on d13 that's a good thing so the rail isn't where most problems are! The cup's design and injectors (because of cup design) are the most common problem besides oil leak at the timing gear area at the back of block!
Interesting. I use to work in a machine shop years ago, making a few different turned parts for these injectors. So if your lorry was build between 2004 and 2011, and the injector failed. Sorry about that.

If it has electrical problem you will get code, it could be leaking fuel into oil so you need visual exam, it could cause engine to misfire underload which may or may not give a code

That means the cups are bad and leaking coolant into the cylinder! Get it fixed asap or you'll be replacing a egr valve, egr cooler, turbo, doc, dpf, nox sensor, Delta P sensor and your intake valves will be not happy!

Could be a few thing but most likely cups if hard to start/ need to prime fuel before starting, air in return, bubbles if you look in fuel tanks. Injectors need replaced if the have pitting due to bad cups or sometimes they misfire under load
Single injector electrical fault is usually bad injector, test it by disconnecting injector and connecting to a spare injector. Just the wire, no need to remove injector. See if you still get code
First bulletin says to repair them...then the 2nd bulletin says, don't repair them, replace them. All exhaust rockers are on national backorder. So, I being a good tech, use my TIG welder to spot weld the pistons.
Need to add update to the new installer. the one you are using is pulling the bottom of the cup when it is installed. the new tool pushed down when installing.

Feed line is the better option, since it's toward the rear of the head and typically is a little lower than the front

We use the EGR crossover pipe, green o-rings, to hold the plungers in.

Something from engine would probably be piece of broken valve. It could get stuck from build up of soot or uneven wear also

Haven't done it on a d12 but I don't think you would have to remove any of that

Cups need to be changed any time injectors are removed. Injectors need to be replaced only if its worn or pitted on mating surface to cup

You can try but you might have to do it again, it's cheaper to do it right once. It doesnt add much time to change one cup when your already there

Maybe air getting in system ie injector cups, filter housing, davco or pressure relief valve sticking if you still have it

throttle pedal may be the cause, had the same problem with a FM9 / ishift gearbox

Not sure without seeing the truck but could be a injector leaking into cylinder or maybe injector cups

No. There's a completely different set of tools for the D12.

Valve lash? Intake 0.203mm exhaust 1mm
you forgot to mention that you need to repair the exhust plungers if thay back out
First bulletin says to repair them...then the 2nd bulletin says, don't repair them, replace them. All exhaust rockers are on national backorder. So, I being a good tech, use my TIG welder to spot weld the pistons.

Need to add update to the new installer. the one you are using is pulling the bottom of the cup when it is installed. the new tool pushed down when installing.
also you don;t have to take the puller apart like that each time. it can stay as a whole unit
this tool pushes down and runs a pin through it to spread out the bottom, can't get the cup on without taking it apart
