“Can I get that in writing?” Stops a lot of bullshit before it starts.

"I need you to want more."
"Okay. I want more pay and value in benefits. How do we make that happen?"

Don't stop these workplace vids. I'm sure many people can relate how the corporate world is like a battlefield.

It usually is, I was kept as a helper for 13 years (my acceptance) because there no openings to move up to then the super complained I wasn't going the extra mile... yeah 'bout that quarter a hour raise ...

"Meeting expectations" but manager wants her to "want more". That's like trying to prove a negative.

I don't even know how to exceed expectations. You could literally do everything for your job, have one area of slight weakenss, and they will say you're meeting expectations.

"I DO want more...MONEY. That MONEY will make me work harder. Other than that, give God a call. Maybe HE has a better offer to 'motivate' me."

"not everything's about money" well that is true, there are things in life that are more important than money and a job however money is literally the only reason why you're there. You don't go to a job for any other reason other than making money.

Talk about gaslighting. I want you to want more translates as do more things for free

If you want a person to treat their position like a career you'd better pay them like it's a career.

A few of my previous jobs in the 90s and aughts suddenly started requiring that we create professional business objectives, and the top 3 objectives had to be “stretch goals”.
The “stretch goals” all had to be a minimum of 5%.
So each year we were required to improve our production and performance by 5%, but no raises were given.
And, if you had a stretch goal of only 5%, you were considered unmotivated and it a team player. (kind of like having only 15 pieces of flair).
I don’t know if it was some big trend that died away, or if the shift in my focus of practice took me to places that didn’t practice stretch goals, but I haven’t been forced to create and reach stretch goals since 2011.

Ok, this is.. actually pretty reasonable compared to the other shit people deal with. It's a calm, understandable thing. Not everything is about money... That said, it's clear that if she does extra work, it only benefits the company, not her. People don't work for fun, they work for money. If you're not going to pay me extra for doing extra, then I'm not going to do extra. Only what is in the contract.

When you're being told that I should "want more" I realized on the spot that it was a very intelligent HR lady tacitly asking me if I was really willing to put up with that horseshit given how demonstratedly smart I had shown.
I accepted that. That company bought me a car as a parting gift ($5000 Severance)
That talk signals that they're already looking at you, willing to negotiate a severance pay to get you gone. Never waste a good severance package opportunity...this is exactly why I came to work at [redacted] Industries: to earn a little extra.

Ha ha ha! "Be a leader here! Go the extra mile! Step up your performance! We're a family here!" (But we ain't giving you a single cent more to put in all those extra hours of effort.) No thank you. I'm ok doing exactly what my job description demands and having a life outside of work. -_-

Anyone who tells you that not everything is about money is either trying to take advantage of you or is a complete tool. Yes everything is about money and yes, money makes the world go round. This is the most delusional thing I've ever heard.

As a tool and die guy, the blueprints were my contract. As long as the part is perfect leave me alone.
One day a boss asked me how much longer while looking at his watch, I put the watch away go get a calendar.😅🤓😽🦜🖖
