    Compression check- Jack up one drive wheel , 5th gear , rotate and feel each compression.

    Hi thanks for taking the time to record a video very well done I’ve been watching your video I have a similar problem with my van won’t start off in the mornings unless you use a little bit of easy start in trying to find a problem and I have diagnostics done and the only cold come up with something back to the airflow but I have tried everything I try doing the injector test like you did but when I remove the socket of each injector instead of cutting out it just sounds different tractors but once I plugged it agin it sounds right again, could you give me any advice please I’d appreciate it thanks

      Hi mate, do you have a scan tool with live data? You can monitor everything from there. If you don't have one you're going to have to find a garage or someone who does as it's going to be very difficult to diagnose this without doing that.

    Very interesting, nice vid. That fuel definitely doesn't look right! Would have been nice to see exactly what the problem turned out to be but will have to wait for the next one! Does your scan tool code injectors?

    With that oil spray on top of the engine, I'm thinking injector seal has gone, lost compression on cylinder 4 blowing oil spray out of any of the injector to cam cover seals

    m8.I love your videos and i need your advice. I have 2.2 /120hp puma engine in my boxer. When i start up there is no throttle response at all and yellow engine management light is on .It takes around 10 sec and the light is gone also the throttle responding. On a certain rpm i have some vibe like a missfire cylinder and when i removed the plastic cover the no3 cylinder has some oil mist around all others are dry.Sould i perform a leak of test to see whats going on. ??? When its cold its smokes a bit and feels like overfueld. I appriciate your time if you could point me to directions.
    Oil/air EGR valve replace car has 159k in the clock

    Do I have to blank off the return pipes before a leak off test, would they suck air in if I didnt? How long do I do the test for and is it just at idle? I have just replaced injector seals, copper washers and a new camshaft cover as breather was goosed. Now it has trouble starting especially when warm, once started runs sweet as a nut though, no engine shake ticks over lovely. Any ideas? Cheers

    Hi mate I have mk7 350 140.. have a engine malfunction light and just wont start. Had machine on saying injector one changed still didnt start. Machanic noticed no4 doing leak test wasn't much better and wasn't coded. I'm having all 4 replaced now and coded. Do one injector fail one after each other and could this be why hard start. ?

    What about a diesel engine when its cold and it shakes slightly(half as bad as the van in the video) but doesnt when warmed up.

    great work . but be very careful what you tell people ? some of the new piezo injectors when you disconnect the injector plug you can bent a con rod !!! because piezo injectors (well most off them ) control the open and closed they don't close the fuel when you discontent them . they will fill you cylinder with full and say goodbye to you Motor !!

    the video is 20 min long. with ford IDS and a bit of knowledge the diagnostics is done within 3 min.
    What fault code will you get if the washer at the bottom of the injector is blown??

    Nice Test. Would it not be prudent to have checked to make sure the injector was getting an electrical signal to open? We know it was getting fuel and it was not contributing, but seems we can;t be sure it was being told to open.

    In newer transits mine's an 05 , you can fuck up the injector by unplugging it and starting the engine , because it throws it out Of sync with its rise and fall movement , and srews up the inside. Be careful!

      Yes and no mate what it will do on the newer vehicles on the pieszo injectors it will shut down the ECU because it doesn't want to blow the controls for the injectors but if you reset the ignition they will come back if there is a hard fault on the injector it will never come back until that is fixed but you can reset it there is a failsafe within the ECU to stop damage on the newer vehicles not on this one that I was working on otherwise I would have said what the pitfalls are on the vehicles

    hi pal, i was thinking of putting a recon engine in my 02 transit 2.0 tddi, like for like engine, apart from the actual physical change of the engine, is there any reprogramming if i use the vans original electrics? the van is too good to scrap, and engines seem quite reasonable, price wise. thanks great videos👍

      dave bram hi mate as long as you match the engine codes up you will have no problem you don't have to change anything electronic some of the injectors are coded so you might need them coded that that's not a big deal if your old injectors are good just put them in the new engine you will have no problem

    So if my van cuts out when injector is removed is that a sign of bad injector. I remove 2 of remaining 3 and it shakes a little. But when I remove 4 doesn't do anything.? Any help would be great. Boss videos keep them coming

      No. If you unplug an injector and it makes no difference then that one was doing nothing.... That means it was the faulty one.

    Hi I have a transit connett that misfires when cold and clears it's self after 1 minute when cylinders warm up, runs perfect when it's warm. Any advice would be appreciated as it's driving me nuts. Rob

      Rob Avery hi mate could be a number of things but most probably sounds like some type of intake leak if you can get it put on a smoke machine when the engine is Stone Cold and watch for the smoke

    hi asking for little help lol. i have leak off kit, and was going to test transit 2.4 rear wheel drive 90psi, but when i come to hooking things up the return pipe along the top where injectors are there hold in with banjo bolts' have not got clue how to hook it up, so is it scrap yard rip old one off and cut it up to fit?? or am i missing something, i was tempted to pull pipes off to push leak off pipe on them, but thay all look compressed on there tight'

    I bought the same kit. Connectors weren't long enough to get an adequate depth into the injectors. They subsequently leaked and now engine won't start! Do I now have to bleed the system?

      there's a few ways of doing it but one of the easiest ways is to open each injector pipe injector feed pipe for one at a time crank the engine over until diesel comes out

    Hi my 2011 ford connect had new leak off pipes and o rings but leaking fuel bin in the garage lots of times now they saying it’s my injector but leaking from different 1 now any ideas cos fed up now thanks

      Liam French hi mate I hope you can appreciate it's going to be impossible for me to say what is wrong if you've been to garages and they've seen it and they cannot even tell you what's wrong very difficult for me to all I can say is you will have to go to someone who knows what they are doing and get it tested properly to see what the problem is I'm sorry I cannot help you I don't want to say one thing to you you replace it and cost you a fortune for no reason I hope you understand

    Hi Bodgit&leggit I have just changed head gasket on transit connect 1.8 tdci running fine before other than head gasket fault, built it back up now it wont start? injectors were out and stood up while head was skimmed and new appropiate gasket fitted, any ideas please?? Many thanks!!!

      Hi mate they can be an absolute nightmare to bleed you need to make sure you have fuel in the fuel filter then opens each injector up and make sure fuel is coming out there's loads of different ways to bleed them but then 1.8 engines are nightmare to bleed

      Hi mate you're going to have to get a scan tool with some live data and monitor the fuel system you can also do a leak back test on the injectors and Scope some of the the sensors on the fuel rail and the fuel pump

    Have you ever done a leak off test on vauxhall 1.7cdti engines??
    When I did a leak off test on my corsa 1.7cdti i bought the leak off kit, took the leak off pipes off an clamped the leak off pipes so no air can get in, went to start the engine took a few cranks to start the engine ran for a few seconds then conked out, wouldn't restart afterwards for love nor money if fact it was a bloody nightmare to get going again, so took the leak off kit out and reconnect the leak off pipes, only way i could get it going was undoing the fuel filter, then put it back on and after a few cranks it started again, been afraid to to a leak test to this engine again what did i do wrong, I thought maybe I didn't clamp the leak off pipes tight enough and maybe the pump sucked in a load of air as these engines operate on suction to bring the fuel in from the tank.

    Hello mate only if you can help me I've got a 430 Transit on an 06 a 2.4 litre engine diesel when the engine gets the temperature then the engine starts revving up and down I had an injector light come on all injectors have been replaced I've had a compression check done that is all fine having a new diesel pump 2 hour diagnostics at Ford's I've replace a crank sensor no mechanic can find out what is wrong with the van when vans cold it drives perfect when it gets hot start trying to hunt up and down I wonder if you've got any voice ECU is fine, I just wondered if you ever come over this problem before I watch a video on the Ford Transit I just wondered if you had any advice

    After watching this iv got a mk7 20011 2.2 transit that struggles to start and turbo doesn't seem to kick in.it's had new injector seals new glow plugs new genuine filter and housing New cranksensor.Any ideas what it could be.can runs fine no smoke or rocking engine just lack in power and hard to start.starts straight away and runs all day with a squirt.love the vids wish I lived closer to book my van in with ya.cheers Steve

      Hi mate, the problem is I would really need to diagnose it properly. I don't like guessing. I don't want to tell you the wrong thing and then you go down a rabbit hole and spend money. I hope you understand. But it can still be things like timing. You could have injector problems. Or even high pressure pump problems. Blocked exhaust unfortunately the list goes on and on

    You haven’t checked the signal to injector no.4 or how many amps that injector is drawing . You could end up replacing the engine when the fault was simply a problem in the injector wiring harness.

      dave bram it's hard to say as all cars have their own problems but ford over here anyway are cheaper to repair and easier to get parts for especially second-hand parts lot more available

      Dwizz t not necessarily mate you're going to have to a lot more testing get fuel pressures do a leak down test there's an awful lot more to do than just disconnecting the injectors

    I am losing diesel and there is a diesel patch on my drive. There is also a very strong diesel smell from the front of the engine. I have been told i need a set of spill pipes. Are they called spill pipes or called something else as i have looked on Ebay and not sure what i need to buy. Is it a job i can do myself or is it difficult.

      Hi mate I'm not sure of that name exactly I'm guessing it's the return pipe from the injectors but again that's just a guess from what you are saying just take it to a mechanic he'll tell you exactly what parts you need and you just pay him for him to look at it you get the parts and you fix it

    leak off testing only works with solenoid injectors properly not piezio one like you have there as they work differently, do a relative compression test with a current clamp on starter motor cable with an oscilloscope, would take about 10 mins and identify faulty cylinder, or look at injector balance on live data on scan tool to identify bad cylinder, probably got a hole in piston

    I like the RS500 you have back there. Nice one. I used to have Escort Cosworth back in the day. I really loved that car, but today they are stupid expensive.
    I have a question for you. I have a Mondeo 2.2 tdci 155 and when I turn it on cold it smokes for couple of seconds and then it's normal after that. It starts normally and all btw. Power seems fine and the car doesn't smoke after that. What could that be? Injector seals or something like that? Thanks for your answer in advance. I know you can't say "this is it", but I'd just like to know the direction I should look into.

      Atrax R hi mate it's a possibility injector seal or injector maybe sticking get some cleaner and put it in the tank make sure it's for the Delphi injectors and see how you go then

    I tried disconnecting the leads to my injectors on my 2.2 diesel Mondeo Mark 3 but didnt cut out so will have to do leak off test i suppose

    lol. never mind checking the valve distance. just conclude 'it's broken' (gee, maybe the manual actually mentions you have to re-adjust those things every 20k km or so) :P also never mind just swapping injector #4 with injector #3 to see if the problem moves to #3 :P also, you're not actually trying to imply you don't even have a compression meter right? lol. you don't need to get one that does all cylinders at the same time, it's just a bar pressure meter. one at a time is fine. they are not 'expensive' at all. should the scrapers be gone you can easily find them back in the oil filter, that and other problems (leaking valves) are quite visible in the exhaust connections on the cylinder head.. diesel injectors actually are parts that need replacement every 200k km or so or it's no longer a 'shower' but more like a pissing down effect. just like brake pads, tyres, batteries and all the rest of the temprary crap. if they don't want their cars to 'let them down' they should start doing some regular maintenance.

      If you actually knew what you was talking about I might take you seriously adjusting hydraulic tappets mmmmmm 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this was an injector and pump problem the customer didn't want to spend the money on repairing it maybe you need to know more before you try and make a clever comment

      darren best hi mate that's one of them I can't really answer as I need codes and also would have to test components but it could be either one of them is possible or it could be something else

      ive got the same problem with a P0251 fault code. Leak off test was really bad on injectors (from left to right when looking at engine) 2 and 4, where they filled the whole bottle and 1 and 3 were half full.
      should i get some reconditioned injectors?

      @@dazz104 hi ....there is cheap copies on ebay but they didnt last.in the end i went to ford. Expensive at 100 piund incuding vat. Plus 40 pound at local garage to fit them.all sorted now.ask mechanic to clean off apilt diesel as it stinks the car out .once cleaned smell went our of car in about a week.cheers.

    I had this om my transit ,turns out it was a broken valve spring ,didn't find out untill I changed the engine lol

    I have a transit connect 2009 which showed all the same problems, mate pulled the plugs on the injectors and 1 showed no difference. So I jump ahead and got a reconditioned one. Still the same problem. Also there seems to be a lot of back pressure form the oil filler cap which I never noticed before am I right thinking theres a problem with the piston rings on the failed cylinder ?

      Hi mate unfortunately could be too many things I'm not going to guess what it is if I tell you something and it's wrong he could end up costing you a fortune it would need to be diagnosed properly to find the problem

      @@bodgitandleggitgarage Hey thanks for the reply it's been diagnosed with no faults coming up. Just done a leak off test today and the injectors are fine. Going to get another engine cant be fussed anymore.

      @@akumabkk6137 maybe you need to go to someone else then because if someone diagnosed it and can't find it maybe they don't have the right tool you need to find someone with an oscilloscope who can diagnose it properly

    Hi mate I have a 2009 ford transit and I have diesel leaking up from the 3rd injector. I replaced it with a new one and it seemed fine for a few days but has now started leaking through the injector seal....any ideas??

      Hi mate couple of things you need to do is make sure you have the right washer and also so most probably it's going to need the injector seal recutting I will be releasing a video on this very soon

    Any gues got sprinter 2005 2.2l and it's over fuel quite alot. And im getting non stop blue ish and black smoke non stop?

      Hi mate you're going to have to check your fuel pressure check your injectors are leaking inside your cylinders and also check your EGR valve you're going to need some specialist tools to do this if you haven't got them I would suggest you take it to somebody who does this way you can save you a fortune in the long run

    Diesels are known for running lean - so I'm betting on a burnt exhaust valve. No idea what's up with that fuel, but I can't see how contamination would get into it (other than at the pump, of course.) On the other hand, I've seen diesels do the strangest things (on two occasions, I had them running on engine oil when an injector seal went bad. They went through around 7 gallons of engine oil in about 15 minutes (some burnt, the rest went into the fuel tank via the return line)...so it's anybody's guess at this point. :-P

      Just serviced my daughters TD4 Freelander yesterday. Feel your pain regards those Allan key bolts on the air filter but my worst problem was that someone had already 'serviced'(thats term is used in the loosest possible terms) the PCV. They had fitted the oil separator upgrade that I was going to fit but had 'mashed' all the screws on the top....could't tell whether they were Torx or Allan keys. 2 1/2 hours to get the last one off!! Anyway, fitted my separator and only replaced those screws that I could. Main event was removing the EGR valve and inlet manifold to de carbon/gunk. That went okay but the actual inlet into the engine was very badly funked up too. Any advice to help get rid/remove that too or is it a head removal/clean up?? Not sure if Terraclean would do much as the TD4 is direct injection (IIRC) but any thing would be better than not I guess? Was going to delete the EGR but unfortunately it was quite the right fit so it's still on the normal EGR(which is 'fecked' but much cleaner now)..
      Keep posting, love the videos, love the un edited bits and bobs and best of all, love the 'temper tantrums' when they 'happen'...

    i wished i could get my Cit Relay to stop knocking lol, every one thats heard it says a different fault, it was knocking like a council estate debt collector when i bought it (cheap), its still knocking now, theres no visible smoke ever at all and 40mpg, its a dw12uted, no codes stored or when running, it knocks on tickover, it knocks on acceleration )(same) and knocks on deceleration (same but more bass), dropped sump, good oil pump, no visible/feel of any conrod slack top or bottom ends, but its all from pot4. not as bad but still present with inj4 unplugged, driving it till it fails to solve the mystery...had it 3 months now...refuses to fail...

    I just totaled 2 Ford Transits from 2016 and 2017 with leaking injectors getting the diesel into the oil and then spinning the bearing causing catastrphic engine damage at ~ 270 000km
    And today a Peugeot Boxer from 2014 came in (same 2.2 ford engine) with only 120000km siezed the beraings on the crankshaft.... this engine is trash
    That Boxer is my uncles, i have a OM646 sprinter with electronics (badly damaged from the rear) and will try to swap it in. Ford is a joke
    If you are all wondering why its eizer to swap in instead of fixing the sprinter. Sprinter was hit by a overgabarit truck from the rear, basically it looks like a used can of beans

    I did the same test, removing one by one the plugs with the same engine, but nothing happened. See th-cam.com/video/_OLbp9fpSCM/w-d-xo.html -> I have a badly ticking sound in the engine

    Wtf r u talking about? Y would u not do more diagnosis? It takes minutes to take those injectors out n do a leak down or comp test. Also the injectors fail daily on those 2.2 engine n your in component leak test was useless
