What gorgeous about Adam!!! He is not Cary Grant, neither Gary Cooper nor Tyrone Power or Gregory Peck . Little Jo was much much more handsome than Adam. Unfortunately he had no hair and bad dental range.
People will either agree or disagree with a comment, naturally. BUT, the commentor is ALWAYS posting only their opinion, so what is the point to disagree with a personal opinion. Though it would be fun to have a vote..Adam vs. Joe. LOL Joe (my opinion) is good looking, but doesn't appeal to me in the least. Adam is handsome and quite sexy, I like his looks even in the show Trapper John MD.
The actress was about 3 years older than Pernell. She did a good job in this episode. But I do think she was not pretty, not even handsome - a dog face.
G'day Hannah, there was... But feminists killed them. If there are any of us left you won't find them drinking soy lattes at the local hipster cafe or on Facebook.
Pernell Roberts was actually dating the actress that played Regina at the time this episode was filmed - so any 'passion in his kisses' wasn't necessarily 'acting' ! :)
I've seen a photo of Pernell and the woman who played Regina while they were dating. It can be seen on the Google site. I just pulled up their names pertaining to the 2 of them and it came up, they're sitting at a table
Adam's horse is forever throwing his head, fighting the bit and side stepping. When is someone going to figure it out? Surely it should be obvious to his rider or someone on the set.
It’s the only time in the whole series that I see Pernell the actor lose it at 23:27. Sport is moving so much Pernell can barely get off the horse & when he does he yanks the reins a bit. I think sport knew Pernell was not entirely comfortable on horses, and was reflecting that back to him.
Ive noticed that too. I think Adam just likes to RIDE this way so it looks flashy on CAMERA. I don't think for one minute he can NOT handle a horse. I saw him guest star on THE BIG VALLEY WESTERN with Nick Bark;ley and e ADAM rides normal on that show. They were huting a mountian lion and not once did ADAM ride like a prancer.
Actually, those other men were up to no good any way. They are rogues, thieves and bushwhackers. Once they took notice of those people, they were going to attack the wagon train any way because that's what they do; they wreak havoc. Luckily, Adam and Hoss were there to offer some protection.
She never blamed him, she said so herself, it was Adam who blamed himself, I thought that that was very honest and noble about him and he did all that he could to avenge all of the troubles that felt that he had caused so yeah I will applaud him for seeking to correct something that wasn't really his fault, it just happened
I love the old English that these Quakers used when they spoke just like the old English that the 1611 King James Authorized Version of God's Holy Word the Bible which is inerrant and infallible uses. That might be why they do that.
@@lynettepalecek3141 it's actually because in the 1600s, 'thee' and 'thou' were used in less formal settings than 'you' (which was used when talking to someone of higher standing than you). It was a way of engaging with everyone in the spirit of equality.
@11:25 Adam being socially awkward trying to talk to the woman might be relatable to some people in the audience, but this doesn't really make sense for Adam's character. Adam has grown up socializing with other people, and with women. I could see Hoss tripping over himself, but not Adam. Also pretty silly that Adam is demonized at the end for trying to stop a serial murderer and robber.
I agree, I watched an episode where 'Pa' was 'stepping out' with an actress who was passing through town. Adam paid her a visit, and planted a man's kiss on her and walked away. Then he says to his brothers' 'she's an actress'. in such a scathing manner, he made it sound worse than 'prostitute'. It was such a funny episode I had to watch it twice for the laughs of Joe and Hoss sneaking out the window to go and watch the actress because Adam's bedroom door was still open. And lo and behold Adam was there in the line up before the two got there. Then after the show having a drink in the saloon, Ben comes in with the actress and Hoss says, Pa! The look on the boy's faces was priceless and they all try to hide their faces. Now that I've written that, I'll go and watch it for the third time and have laughs again.
Watch when he signals the horse with the bit. (stops and turns at speed) He is very heavy handed. He yanks the bit and hurts the horse's mouth. Less bit and more leg signals would fix it.
@@misslucky5474 Disagree 23:21-28 Then Hoss 24:17 Pa and Hoss' horses walk up calmly and stop. Adam is snatching the bit and the horse is uncomfortable.

If they have no guns, how do they get their food? There certainly isn't a butcher in the neighborhood. Love this episode, but more attention could have been paid to logistics🤥
Adam finds a horseshoe from Sam's horse on the ground at the 40:34 mark , but already had it tucked into his belt at the 38:00 minute mark as he bends down beside Sam's dead partner....
A few centuries ago, when pirates were rampant, some merchant ships would paint logs to look like cannons. They called them "Quaker guns". I wonder if it would be okay for these people to hold sticks as if they were rifles.
Good episode but again, could have been a lot better if they were more realistic in the script. What imo would have been better would have been to let Adam realize that fighting the outlaws would be to risky given the circumstances, and instead, give the group back their money out of his own pocket. If he had done that he would have saved Regina's father and Mathew and kept the girl he loved (Regina). Then, Adam could have married in the show, probably keeping the best member of the cast (Pernell) from leaving. I also enjoyed how Adam and Hoss interacted in this episode and the show should have took advantage of that chemistry.
It seem to me that Adam seem a little upset about hoss going as well yes he probably glad later on that he came however he probably thinking better Hoss then Joe at least Hoss won't try to steal the girl I like he will only steal my food
Pernell Roberts was 31 years old when he was cast as Adam Cartwright, Lorne Green was only about 13 years older than him and Dan Blocker was the same age as Pernell so no Lorne wasn't 50 and Pernell Roberts wasn't 40 years old. Something is wrong with the way Parnell's horse, the bit..I noticed it at first in another episode, then watching this, riding the horse a lot, there is!! The horse is extremely uncomfortable...to me anyway..anyone else know better..??
So where exactly was this Slatersville? Was it made up only for this show, or what? Has the town since been renamed? The only Slatersville I found is in RI. None in CA or NV. The only Quaker settlement of note that's close to the Ponderosa would be Quaker Hill, which is in Nevada County. When you pull up the Wikipedia on it there's like 50 ghost towns listed just in that one county alone.
Things only a trained eye can see. Script writer must have been high writing this episode and at time stamp 34:15 camera pans right to left from Adam to the grave mourners. There the lighting is contradicted. Sunny bright day blocked by a row of men and to light the grave they reflected the light coming from a source opposite the Sun. Are there two Suns? The director must have been high on the set, he should have changed camera placement and if you want to emphasize the grave then put up front in the shot, mourners in the background, and the Sun light bleeding all over them.

I got the impression that they were supposed to be Amish or Mennonite. It's not mentioned on the show, probably because the writers didn't feel it was necessary to be that specific about it. It was enough that they were some kind of a pacifist sect.

That's a good perspective. As a Christian I've never believed that you cannot protect and defend yourself, family, community and nation. In fact I believe that the Bible shows clearly that you indeed may protect and defend.
He probably would have come up with some wise proverb. You can't out-debate someone like that.
The Bible says a lot of conflicting things, because it was written by many different people. But never would Jesus have resorted violence.
I’m sorry the way Adam kisses her hand at 45:48 has me screaming. Pernell Roberts was seriously so 🔥 😍
One of the best felt emotional stories.
Wonderful, thanks ❤️🙏❤️
Another great episode with Pernell Roberts our gorgeous Adam i watched this episode thus morning it's been a wonderful start to my day can't wait for this evening please can you do toy soldier or old sheba or any if the three with little Peggy i can't thank you enough it's been along time without Bonanza
I'm really enjoying watching again thank you so much ❤
beauty is subjective.....you should never claim others agree with your opinion...because adam..pernell roberts....certainly was not a gorgeous man..in fact while obviously not ugly he can not even be called a handsome man
@@jadezee6316 Yes beauty is subjective and she had every right to post her comment, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there are a lot of us who believe he was a very handsome, gorgeous and talented actor who is much missed! You have the right to your opinion and some might agree with you but she has the right to hers and there are many who will agree with her, including me! RIP Pernell!
@@jadezee6316 Adam certainly was quite yummy mam. You're entitled to your opinion, but many of us are in agreement that Adam/Pernell is very good looking.
Joe. LOL
Joe (my opinion) is good looking, but doesn't appeal to me in the least. Adam is handsome and quite sexy, I like his looks even in the show Trapper John MD.
Thanks for uploading this
Adam is so fine, wonderful and gorgeous! And he's a protector too...mmm. And Hoss is adorable.

Pernell Roberts was actually dating the actress that played Regina at the time this episode was filmed - so any 'passion in his kisses' wasn't necessarily 'acting' ! :)
Hands down Adam was the heir apparent to the Ponderosa, the family definitely would've endured under his leadership.

39:15, "we'd like some fresh horses...well, I don't know....we're in a hurry!!!"

This is my favorite
Adam's horse is forever throwing his head, fighting the bit and side stepping. When is someone going to figure it out? Surely it should be obvious to his rider or someone on the set.
Yes, I noticed this too.
So did I.
It’s the only time in the whole series that I see Pernell the actor lose it at 23:27. Sport is moving so much Pernell can barely get off the horse & when he does he yanks the reins a bit. I think sport knew Pernell was not entirely comfortable on horses, and was reflecting that back to him.
Dortort wanted to have Adam a feisty horse,so he get sport. As adam an independent spirit
She's like it was awesome meeting you Adam, thank you for all the death and chaos you brought us.
Actually, those other men were up to no good any way. They are rogues, thieves and bushwhackers. Once they took notice of those people, they were going to attack the wagon train any way because that's what they do; they wreak havoc. Luckily, Adam and Hoss were there to offer some protection.
Didn't she realize this is the Wild Wild West!
She never blamed him, she said so herself, it was Adam who blamed himself, I thought that that was very honest and noble about him and he did all that he could to avenge all of the troubles that felt that he had caused so yeah I will applaud him for seeking to correct something that wasn't really his fault, it just happened
I like all the episodes when I see the four horses at intro, after Adam left I had to pick and choose.
Grjingo can you upload The big valley?
I love the old English that these Quakers used when they spoke just like the old English that the 1611 King James Authorized Version of God's Holy Word the Bible which is inerrant and infallible uses. That might be why they do that.
@@lynettepalecek3141 it's actually because in the 1600s, 'thee' and 'thou' were used in less formal settings than 'you' (which was used when talking to someone of higher standing than you). It was a way of engaging with everyone in the spirit of equality.
She reminds me of Kelley McGillis in Witness.

Joe and Adam are in different clothes. Yay 🎉

Hi 🙋♀️ this is a very nice 👍🏻
That was exactly the attitude about actresses back then. Women living a completely un-domestic life seemed like depravity then.
@@rosered103that episode is entitled The Magnificent Adah, season #1
I can see Adam leaving Pa and the Ponderosa for the love of a woman, But Hoss leaving too just because they serve good grub LOL!
Funny, but I think Hoss came along because he and Adam realized these good people needed to be protected on their journey.
At 38:30 Adam already has the horseshoe in his belt
It is really fun watching westerns and noticing those little easter eggs
I don't think I've seen anything with Dennis Patrick this young.
I always thought the actor who played Sam Board looked a lot like a young Billy Graham.
Adams horse is bigger than Hoss' horse. I should think Hoss needs the bigger horse.
Sam Board, the odd one out, a character that I couldn’t take too, a bad 🍎 in the 🧺.
Why does Adams horse always move like that like it is trying to squirm out of the saddle or bridal
I know. A lot of unnecessary head tossing. Something not right there.
The horse was fine until an accident where it got caught in mud then things went wrong and the head throwing thing happened!
Watch when he signals the horse with the bit. (stops and turns at speed) He is very heavy handed. He yanks the bit and hurts the horse's mouth.
Less bit and more leg signals would fix it.

Blooper with that horseshoe. Adam finds it at 40:40 but he was wearing it tucked in his belt earlier at 38:14 "And that's where the money is..."

I am an 80 year old person that got my first horse at the age of 12. It is rather amusing watching the riders in these westerns. Most of them are really not very good equestrians
That was an original Appaloosa
If they have no guns, how do they get their food? There certainly isn't a butcher in the neighborhood. Love this episode, but more attention could have been paid to logistics🤥
Hmmm must have been very strict vegetarians🤔
Adam finds a horseshoe from Sam's horse on the ground at the 40:34 mark , but already had it tucked into his belt at the 38:00 minute mark as he bends down beside Sam's dead partner....
A few centuries ago, when pirates were rampant, some merchant ships would paint logs to look like cannons. They called them "Quaker guns". I wonder if it would be okay for these people to hold sticks as if they were rifles.
Comece a colocar os legendados. Por favor. Gosto muito dessa série e não tem onde assistir.
Olá, tem dois canais no youtube que tem os episódios de Bonanza legendados em português: canal clássicos e KlaussBR
It's funny they got different horses but in the next episode they have their own horses back
They traded them back again.
@ 28:58 you can hear a plane, maybe it's just a mustang 😄

@@doriangray2020 she’s looks older than 35 and Adam looks younger than her. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so they say.

18:40, Shen tells Sam that he wants his cut.
Okay Mr Director, don't forget about shooting into a crowd of people where they all scatter like squawking chickens and nary a one of them gets shot.
@@rosered103 Shooting into a crowd and nobody getting shot is possible and believable if done right...but lighting you cannot make believable when it is done wrong. As far as your sarcasm is concerned; shove right up your ass!

Who are the people that are shown in this episode? Orthodox christians?
I got the impression that they were supposed to be Amish or Mennonite. It's not mentioned on the show, probably because the writers didn't feel it was necessary to be that specific about it. It was enough that they were some kind of a pacifist sect.
Why did they choose to have a not good looking /old woman in this episode?
