Yo Farhan, monster 696 owner here (basically the same version of the bike but smaller).
You can pin this for more info.
The mode toggle buttons on the left side of the handlebar of the Monster 696/796/1100 toggles the following: Battery Voltage, numerical RPM gauge, clock/ odometer, Ducati Data Acquisition ON/OFF, Lap time ON/OFF and Dash Cluster Light brightness settings.
The only caveat is that it will not show these settings when the bike is in motion, you only can do it when the bike is stopped. The moment it detects acceleration it will revert to the ODO or clock. This is most likely what happened.
