I would assume in the 1000's if way higher, Iwould assume if you count the whole industry and over decades you could be talking 100's thousands if not million plus young women abused this way, for every star that makes it there are probably hundreds that end up like this. Unfortunately similar stuff happens in Hollywood .
After reading up on this and others in Korea I feel ill, Korean law seems to only protect the rich and powerful and women seem to be nothing but property.
. The above view has only been made after several months of binge-watching Kdramas and few hours reading about cases like this and Goo Hara etc I have never been but almost every Korean show I have watched so far just confirms it more.(obviously works of fiction but most tv, movie etc tend to be based on reality to an extent).

They often get compensated for being quiet. Also, some families might have not wanted people to know that she was forced to sleep with people for roles, they might have thought about their reputation before justice. And even if her preparators get caught, there are most likely going to get max 3 years of jail time.

The entertainment industry is what I like to call the devil’s playground. Lots of terrible things happen behind the scenes that we don’t always get to know. But I think the society also has a lot to do with it. If kdramas are a least bit indication of South Korean society you can see what koreans are expected to put up with at home and at work. Having someone be pressured or expected to join after work dinner , drinking where the men are served by their female coworkers, allowed to be touched by drunk male coworkers that must be terrible or families are constantly shame if for example a family member has a debt and Loan sharks are allowed to follow them around and threatened to shame them if they don’t pay up. So it is not surprising families do not fight for justice. Sadly South Korea is rich on the outside but very outdated when it comes to laws protecting their citizens

Talented, beautiful she had potential to go far and it drew the predators in the industry to her. Money and influence probably silenced the family and there was little they could do against such an alliance. I hope and pray that there is justice and retribution in the afterlife for those who caused Ja Yeon to feel as if she had to commit suicide to escape the pain. Thank you for choosing to survive. Bless those who have chosen otherwise. If only a check could be legally in place as a human right in all countries that would prevent such events from happening. I partly blame her getting involved in this game with the greed to get name n fame in no time. She had a choice to say yes or no but she gave herself in because of her dream n desire to become famous n in that superficial glittery lifestyle. It was her weakness n immaturity. Once you open a door to a Devil, know that you open it for all....life is more than "Name n Fame"...my best advice to K-Pop world n fans who are blinded

This is the darkside of Hallyu stars and rookies.SouthKoreans artists are not protected by abusive managers,CEOs,talent companies and colleagues. It is about time the government step in and investigate these powerless victims because the KPOP industry as well.as the entertainment industry is destroyed with the recent sex and drugs scandals of famous celebrities.Shocking revelations indeed that needs justice to those victimized by money hungry industry of KPOP.

Rip… wonder why she didn’t just leave the industry and leave that environment.. instead she took her life… this is why you can’t give yourself to a powerful producer… you let them once you’re almost signing your life… what sick f@$/‘s for tormenting this girl… but there is always a solution… never suicide…

it's a good thing if the case is reopened, perhaps it might change the sex abuse towards all the creative and talented artists who just want to perform to the world on their talent in order to entertain the people in the world. humans should do humane things not otheriwse
