Good job! It gave me several pointers since it is my first time trapping for nuisance muskrats. They have burrowed into our ponds dam and now it's leaking. Thanks!
i rekon i would use a 5 foot diggin bar for bustin holes in that ice . we call em digging bars or crow bars in australia you can buy them different sizes . point one end chisel the other heavy yes but heavy is your friend when you drop it it works better .johno
The last several years I've been making my baited 110's with just orange or pink flagging tape tied to the triggers with good success. I seem to catch just as many as when I used carrots and I have a lot less sprung traps. It's also nice because I have the traps all ready to go before I leave the house. Give it a try sometime you will be surprised how well it works.
I wonder if that will work in these ditces I trap where i know rats are moving but the ice is just shitty. Also, maybe a lithium battery saw. I like the look of this set though. Thanks for the video Joe.
Keep the videos coming though, great content brother. Got my 10 year old grandson started trapping, this is very helpful. What state are you? I'm guessing Wisconsin.
Didn't finish this one when it was 1st uploaded, back for more. Man, you can keep all that banging through ice for yourself. That's an assload of work right there.
Use a Wedge and a Stake to Suspend your Conibears put the Stake through the Ring on your Spring. I just wired the Wedge to the Trap Chain. Use a Ice Chisel to cut Hole doesn't Splash Water all over you and you can use it Standing up. Cheers
Loved this video man, really great stuff, I always was told as a kid that the potatoes and carrots work but always find myself doing blind sets or mound sets, I may try some of these out in a few weeks. Really cant wait to watch ya checkin them if there is another part, great work man
@@TrapperJOutdoors Ill catch em how i can get em, I will try the carrots this season, but I just was always taught try to catch them where they are comfortable with their own habbits. I love to catch K9 and fox, but started with Muskrats and always go nuts to try and find some, my region sucks all rock mountains and no cattail swamps near, I have to travel 45 minutes to find one lol. Great great video and Instagram post.
Raybo/ Hey Trapper J - great learning video. Thanks for the effort. I froze my ass off watching it. Do you do anything with box traps for mink while on the ice doing the rat thing?
Holy flippin ice man. Double the fun brother those are some cool looking sets. Like those guy's snaring beaver. Your daughter did a killer job man on the editing man. Hope you get all those buggers lol. Thanks for getting your ass out there. Lol.👊😁
So is the carrot more color attractive then a food source? one guy said he uses tape very new to trapping very confusing
It's a shame ya'll can't trap the hits down there Mr. Trapper J. Makes for easy mid/later winter trapping
Good baits did you ever try parsnips

Hey Trapper stopped by to catch up on some of your videos
Pa Hillbilly thanks buddy
Just wish we got better ice in Southern Indiana. Freeze and thaw continually. Makes running rat traps a pain except for early in the season.
Love your intro brother. Great channels at the beginning, love your content man. Awesome.
Where do you get wooden posts like that?
Rip down 2x
Good video good information TJ
Great video! Looking forward to part 2
thanks bud

@@TrapperJOutdoors what state do u trap rats great video I'm using it in Minnesota
great job with the video
Get yourself an ice chiesl( spud) will make cutting ice much easier!
That’s pretty cool how you place those traps, you know what your doing! Good work
Not much of a water trapper but am interested all trapping. I may try it next year
Just wondering why you don't open up there house and put traps on there runs then plug the house so the house doesn't freeze up
its not legal here to molest a hut
That was cool, I had never seen a trap set under ice like that before
Are you pushing the trap to the bottom or suspending them?
im suspending them
How high are you suspending them
Tommy Schlegel around 6 inches under the ice
Thanks. Can't wait to see the next video
Nice sets! When is your first check??
video will be up tomorrow
Awesome!
Well done my friend 👏👏👍☕

Thank you for posting this video! I just caught my first ever otter on a #330 baited your way. I felt kind of foolish drilling carrots, but hey!
Have You ever broke Your fingers by not using safety pins?
You really have to work for the rats this year. Hope you tore them up today.
im still having fun buddy caught a big beaver today as well
@@TrapperJOutdoors That's great hope the weather holds out for you
@@aarontoddadventures3817 6 inches of snow last night is already melting the ice
@@TrapperJOutdoors that figures it has been one of those years. There were quite a few days this year I was glad I didn't have to go out on a line

Super cool video man!!! Meticulously placed traps! Well done👊🏼 When do we get part 2? Can’t wait to see.....
Another great video!!! How many times have you got a finger caught pushing the trap to where you want it on the stake LOL.
Bear_Hunter I usually don’t lol
Looks like you got all the runs & huts covered....Show time!!
I’ve found that parsnips work the best for muskrats
Par boil the carrots
