Lmao... definitely not a happy band.
Tue Leeds side streets you slip down
The provincial streets you jog round ...
JS absolutely!
1:17 to the end is apparently in reference to Jimmy Saville….
Provincial towns that ya jog round
That’s you guessing again 😂
@@karlsmith8212 I said apparently 🤷♂️
It’s what I’ve heard - various radio dj’s have made allusions to it.
I just thought it was interesting based on how many people within the music industry actually knew about his actions but were fearful of retribution, much like the cancel culture of today where you can lose your job for disagreeing with people with a loudest voices, but on a much smaller scale.
There are references to Saville abhorrent behaviour littered throughout 80’s and 90’s media.
Just thought it was interesting that this may be another one.
It's just not. It's about Steve Wright and Chernobyl
Gonna request the DJ throw down this cool jam. I think he’ll like it
The Manchester Sound was an amazing musical phenomenon 👏
Oh those were the days
Panic on the streets of London
Panic on the streets of Birmingham
I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again?
The Leeds side-streets that you slip down
I wonder to myself
[Verse 2]
Hopes may rise on the Grasmere
But, honey pie, you're not safe here
So you run down to the safety of the town
But there's panic on the streets of Carlisle
Dublin, Dundee, Humberside
I wonder to myself
[Chorus]
Burn down the disco
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music that they constantly play
It says nothing to me about my life
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music they constantly play
[Verse 3]
On the Leeds side-streets that you slip down
Provincial towns you jog 'round
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
They've already stated its about radio DJ Steve Wright!!!
Look it up. It's about an insensitive song played after announcing the Chernoable disaster. Nothing to do with Jimmy Saville!!!
Him kissing the skull 💀 in the fire 🔥 of video rememberly 💥
Read the lyrics, and tell me that wasn’t written about jimmy Savile ….. ‘chorus sang by children’
No it's about Steve Write being insensitive about the Chernoble Disaster.
This is my representing song ❤️
buen video gracias por hacerlo
Is this bout saville?
No it's about Steve Wright being insensitive about Chernoble
And they are out in streets of London
Panic on the streets of Biiiiirmingham
🎶💥 Birmingham is Britain's 2nd City where I live 🎸🎵
Great vid! keep it up!
Thanks!
Panic on the streets of Lima
Panics on the streets of Abancay
This song is obviously about the correct storage of a gentleman's evening attire.
When DJ is hang lmao
Jimmy Saville. Apparently.
Nope it's been stated to be about Steve Wright and his lack of insensitivity towards the Chernobyl disaster
I love that s músic
black mirror
A video with the smiths re united and i escape..please
That's the goal, unlikely though!
As i listen to this song, the word DJ sounds less and less real with each second.
hang DJ×32
I'm not that lazy! Aha
One of those songs man
Even with him Saville running around, it was much safer back then. Now there's knives, assault, murder and theft everywhere. And a million Savilles. 😢
That’s not true. Crimes rates have gone down
No this song is about Steve Wright playing music after the Chernobyl disaster 😊
This song bemoans the trivial state of contemporary pop music and tells listeners to "burn down the disco." Some misconstrued this as a racist attack on black music. Marr refuted these claims to NME in 1987: "To those who took offense at the 'burn down the disco' line I'd say, 'Please show me the black members of New Order!' For me, personally, New Order make great disco music, but there's no black people in the group. The point I'm making is that you can't just interchange the words 'black' and 'disco', or the phrases 'black music' and 'disco music'. It makes no earthly sense."
Jimmy Savile ?
Nope it's about Steve Wright
It's amazing how a 2 min odd song can make you introspect your life and also call for sentencing of a pedophile
Not about a paedophile. It's about Steve Wright and Chernobyl
It's about Steve Wright and Chernobyl
Now then …Well I wonder who this song is about ?
I wrote to Jim'll fix it asking to meet Gary Glitter, dodged a fucking bullet there lol 😂
@@alangemmell5398 yeah brother. So glad you wouldn't answered
It's about Steve Wright and Chernobyl disaster
The Yorkshire Ripper was Saville. Sutcliffe was his assistant or patsy?
Nope about Steve Wright and Chernobyl
@@kateg7039 they aren't going to say it's about Saville out loud are they? He was deep in the establishment. Untouchable.
@lyramidsummer5508 no it was well beyond this came to light. My friend was felt up in the 70s... the damage had already been done. I like steve Wright but he was tone deaf when it came to Chernobyl
@lyramidsummer5508 sadly Saville wasn't brought to light at the time. What he did was awful but let's appreciate that The Smiths didn't want happy music playing after the Chernobyl News broke.
It doesn't have to be paedophiles for it to be interesting
