The amount of layering of Johnny Marr’s guitars on this track is nothing short of legendary, the combination of the acoustic guitar, the electric and the slide guitar, if there’s one song to be Marr’s guitar opus, it’s this song
I was in my late teens when The Smiths were at their height. Marr was recognised as a guitar academic at the top of his craft in the same bracket as Knoffler, Clapton and Moore.
I remember when I first heard this song back in in the '80's. At 16 yrs old, I thought the lyrics so wickedly hilarious, and still do. Really, the whole album is that way...There is a Light, Vicar in a Tutu, Wild Heart...fabulous! 30+ years later, and I'm still loving The Smiths...
Wow. How did that happen ? Admittedly, at five years older, I was around fifteen when I first heard this and all the other superb songs from The Smiths. At ten I can see how you missed out, temporarily. Timeless, for sure.
Ficam as lembranças!

This album gets better every time i play it. You can't really understand how good is it, until you realize the huge influence and the context where has been made. Sadness, isolation, disillusion, sarcasm, irreverence, mental disease, rejection for the establishment (political, musical), in an album that sounds incredibly well.
