Pitts is a good catching TE. It was unfortunate that he was put in the idiotic Arthur Smith offense and got hurt and then was told to block so the Smith offense could run. He also had Mariotta, Ridder then Heineke under center and Smith ran Ryan out of town. Young OC like Robinson should be able to use a pass catching TE like Pitts. Use him for mis-matches like we use to do with Gonzalez. This can open things up for London, McCloud, and Moony

We need more ILBs too. Troy Anderson may be on thin ice with all his injuries but even with him it was something off with the LB core as a whole. Keep Ellis tho lol but Nate Landman may be traded if he’s not a free agent. Captain America basically has the same game play as Landman and he’s on a rookie contract. Need a LB with speed power can cover just enough and can diagnose a run quickly.
If you’re gonna be on the hook for that contract you might as well keep him. Yeah you might save 10 mil but you have to still find a quality back up for MPJ.
Teams will be knocking down the doors for Cousins. He faced the toughest schedule of defenses of any quarterback in the league this year. The play calling when he was starting was deplorable and still he was third in the league in yards. He was on a pace to be the only quarterback with two 1,000 yard receivers. He would have broken two NFL records for most receptions by 4 and 5 different receivers. Against those 6 elite defenses that he faced he performed an incredible 30% better than the league average quarterback. Kirk will start somewhere next year and continue playing at a Hall of Fame level. Against average defenses he put up Hall of Fame numbers this year and was even better against the 3 weak defenses that he faced. Atlanta should not have replaced him. If he had continued to start against the weaker defenses that Michael faced the Falcons would be preparing for a home playoff game and then be headed to Philadelphia where we have already won this year. However, we had no chance to win past that point no matter how well Kirk played because there would just be too big a difference between the quality of the coaching. No matter who gets there the Rams, Vikings and Lions coaching staffs are all so much better than what we have we would have no chance.
Offense is lit, keep Cousins he got an extra 8 mos. to continue to heal. The cap basically is worth it because you have to very good starting Qbs for less than 40m a year (yes the younger is more ready than not but it’s definitely worth keeping a starting backup than a freaken Mariota/Ridder). Focus this draft solely on defense if 5 picks 4 should be defense, if we need offensive linemen trade for them. However, do not mess with offensive side of the ball “PERIOD”. Sitting a guy you draft 1st overall is unusual, but they might do a drake Maye and play him half way through the season. If Kirk knows his body and knows himself, and thinks that his best option is to be a backup and no longer a starter, then I do think that he would stay and mentor pics and restructure his contract. It depends a lot on how he feels about his physical ability to play the game week in and week out. I think Kirk has to be real with himself about what he truly feels his ability is. And, what the rest of the league may feel his ability is. Also, it would depend on what teams were interested in him coming in as a starter. A team like the browns would bring him in as a cheap 1-year option but he would know that that was all that he was going to get. Is that really what he wants? Does he really think that he's going to be a starter for the next 3 to 4 years? If he really does not like the options out there, and does not feel that he would be a competitive starter at another place, why not earn several million dollars to mentor the next guy and keep your wife and family happy where they are?

Bijan Robinson and the teams they played down the last 3 games are why the offense looked " ok "( except bijan who could take over as the best back in the game). The giants and panthers were bottom 5 defenses who were the walking wounded in the past few games. I don't know what to expect fr 3:09 from penix jr( good or bad ). He has a great arm but that was known. I won't be surprised if he's a qb who struggles to complete 62-63% of his passes which isn't great in this Era of the NFL. As far as cousins goes , idk. There is a world where he got hurt in saints game and the rest could be explainable.....except he actually looked good in the game @ Minnesota and the #1 defense....and then the 4th quarter started and offense didn't get ball back until it was 35-21 well into 4th quarter. I have no explanation for the raiders game but I won't be surprised if Kirk plays B , B+ football for a team like the browns where he'll be healthy ( should be) and he won't be surrounded by " yes" people. The flip side of the coin is that kirk will see things on tape and might just retire ( if there's no coming back from said things). If that the case and he retires before June 1st then the falcons csn spread out all that dead money . TBD. Red zone failures and timely penalties really killed this team all year long ( besides the obvious- defense). I know 2 people who will still say good things about kirk cousins and that's Darnell Mooney and double ray McCloud. Bijan Robinson will be next years " offensive player of the year ". Id throw down some coin on it.
We need him as a backup in case Penix gets hurt. Although Penix looked great on lots of throws, he also had several passes that were the worst passes I have seen in the years I have watch football. Several were thrown into the ground. several yards from the target. Also another one of many failures by Raheem was those receivers were not used to his throws at all. It is almost if they had only caught 4 or 5 passes from him in practice. Raheem should have had them used to his balls. He also needs to get that accuracy better he could be top 5 qb ng.

if you let Cousins go, Falcons still need to sign a back up QB who will command at least 10million. Falcons will spend 80million whether they keep Cousins or not. So it makes sense to keep him. It just goes to show you that these executives are just not smart. No one is going to trade for Cousins. If the team releases him, they are still on the hook for his 2025 salary. (R. Wilson). If you're required to pay him, it would be stupid to release him. He would be the perfect backup and mentor to Penix.
I think it is a great idea for Cousins to return. Kick him to the curb and you lose $10 million, so you are paying ten million for a backup which is a lot. But you are paying very little for Penix. "What about the rest of the money they have to pay?" Well, that is a sunk cost and it does not change if you release him or keep him. Cousins will get some healing time. And he will be the same great mentor for Penix. Look at how great Cousins was at the start of the season when he was healthy. So I disagree with your take. Kirk will be an AMAZING Back up. Rich as hell too. However, Trading Pitts need to be our #1 option for an ELITE pass rusher or draft picks first depth. However, whether Cousins is with us or not we’ll have to pay him. He can keep mentoring Penix. I think Kirk will make a great OC/HC someday

If Kirk knows his body and knows himself, and thinks that his best option is to be a backup and no longer a starter, then I do think that he would stay and mentor pics and restructure his contract. It depends a lot on how he feels about his physical ability to play the game week in and week out. I think Kirk has to be real with himself about what he truly feels his ability is. And, what the rest of the league may feel his ability is. Also, it would depend on what teams were interested in him coming in as a starter. A team like the browns would bring him in as a cheap 1-year option but he would know that that was all that he was going to get. Is that really what he wants? Does he really think that he's going to be a starter for the next 3 to 4 years? If he really does not like the options out there, and does not feel that he would be a competitive starter at another place, why not earn several million dollars to mentor the next guy and keep your wife and family happy where they are?

There is a world where he got hurt in saints game and the rest could be explainable.....except he actually looked good in the game @ Minnesota and the #1 defense....and then the 4th quarter started and offense didn't get ball back until it was 35-21 well into 4th quarter.
I have no explanation for the raiders game but I won't be surprised if Kirk plays B , B+ football for a team like the browns where he'll be healthy ( should be) and he won't be surrounded by " yes" people.
The flip side of the coin is that kirk will see things on tape and might just retire ( if there's no coming back from said things).

Although Penix looked great on lots of throws, he also had several passes that were the worst passes I have seen in the years I have watch football. Several were thrown into the ground. several yards from the target.
Also another one of many failures by Raheem was those receivers were not used to his throws at all. It is almost if they had only caught 4 or 5 passes from him in practice. Raheem should have had them used to his balls. He also needs to get that accuracy better he could be top 5 qb

if you let Cousins go, Falcons still need to sign a back up QB who will command at least 10million. Falcons will spend 80million whether they keep Cousins or not. So it makes sense to keep him. I think it is a great idea for Cousins to return. Kick him to the curb and you lose $10 million, so you are paying ten million for a backup which is a lot. But you are paying very little for Penix. "What about the rest of the money they have to pay?" Well, that is a sunk cost and it does not change if you release him or keep him. Cousins will get some healing time. And he will be the same great mentor for Penix. Look at how great Cousins was at the start of the season when he was healthy. So I disagree with your take.
