The plastic output nipple might have been old, yes, but you were 90deg out with the side cutters and effectively applied too much crimp pressure to the outlet. At a 90 angle from your approach it will cut the crimp but not crush the outlet.

interesting video - thanks for sharing. Would've have been even better content if you tested the broken pump once removed and provided some observations on this. Also would love to see a trailside style fix that could be done on the side of the road to fix this issue, if possible - as that's where most issues generally occur. Its not really practical to carry the entire fragile BMW pump assy as fitted on the bike when touring here in OZ.

it's not practical to disassemble a fuel pump trailside and attempt to repair it. if your pump fails sorry your of luck

There was no need to cut the clamp on the hose. Just remove the two screws fastening the barb to the housing and pull it out. There are two o-rings forming a seal between the barb and the housing. Lube the o-rings before reinserting. There was no need to replace the entire assembly and pay the ourageous BMW price for it. The pump, filter, connecting hose and filter sock are all available on the aftermarket and are quality parts for much less.

@@TheBMWGuy why portray replacing replaceable parts as cutting corners???

Sir may i ask? We have a bmw f800gs 17 model. Low pressure on fuel lines. Then if you on the ignition the fuel pump doesnt prime but if you test it on bmw bimmer it will turn on.. i test the voltage from the end of that blue socket to the pump it reads 2 volts only not 12v.

Does the new pump assembly come with the controller? When I look at replacements online they appear to be separate. Thanks.

Is it possible to add a fuel gauge to a 2013 bmw g659 gs sertao ? I don’t care if I have to change the dash to a newer one .

Hi ! I have big trouble with my f650gs twin 800cc. I had trouble with speed and km counter and bmw told me to change ABS for 1295€. Instead of that I sent the Abs to be répares by specialist du Germany. Now the speed an km counter works but the engine cuts under 3000pm 😭 help

I assume you checked that there was feed power to the fuel pump before ordering a pump for the customer?
Maybe just something to mention to people doing home diagnostic?

hey man my f800gs goes off when in traffic or when you race it or launch it.
for long journeys it seems to overheat...once you park it n switch it off it spills water.

What diagnostic process did you follow to narrow it down to the pump? Are there fault codes that might prevent the pump from energizing?

      1. use a meter or bulb to confirm power at the pump connector. 2. remove fuel line and check for fuel flow.
( be careful high pressure output). If you have power and no output.... remove pump and check it...replace pump if bad. Plastic holder, filter, and gauge assembly you reuse if good. No need for diagnostic computer it's like checking a light bulb !

"The Right Way" ?? I appreciate videos more, where the guy actually knows what he has in his hand, and can do better trouble shooting. 1. that plug is the lead to the gas gauge...not" the fuel pump electronics" ! 2. Crack open a fuel line with the pump energized and check for fuel flow... before you pronounce the pump dead, and replace it ! If the pressure regulator/filter was bad instead...you just wasted a lot of time and somebody's money !
