This is the first college football game I can ever remember watching. Watched it as a 5 year old at my aunt's house in Tempe,Az. Will be in the Benz January 1 when ASU makes its return.
Kush's late 1960's teams were powerhouses, but the WAC almost never got bowl bids. After 1970, local businessmen solved the problem by creating the Fiesta Bowl, which in the early days gave an automatic bid to the WAC Champion. ASU played a number of Fiesta Bowls in the early days, most notably the 1975 game, with undefeated ASU facing and beating a one-loss Nebraska team, 17-14.
This was a great game and Spagnola had the quickest pitch out I've ever seen. He could hide the ball , step aside and pitch it. JD Hill was amazing. I think ASU knocked out he quarter back in the 1st quarter. I believe this was ASU's first Bowl Game.
@@FlintyCobblestone Penn State stood tall. Meanwhile, I hope that you saw the '85 BC game that I posted last week. I always like to grant requests whenever I can!
Never seen this before, awesome!
Thanks for sharing. It was awesome to see the highlights of the Peach Bowl. Must see website.

I was at that game. Go Sun Devils. Fork the dorks!
Don McCauley's claim to fame in the pros was being the draft pick compensation for the Dolphins 'stealing' Coach Don Shula (RIP) away from the Colts.

Technically not their first bowl game, but first one in a long time..
I watched this on tv if I remember it was cold enough to snow.
ASU arrived on an American 747 pulled up to a jetbridge at the old Hartsfield terminal, UNC on a Piedmont 737 with built-in airstairs.
Awesome, some great Sun Devils in that game. Go Devils.
Danny White was a freshman at ASU but freshman still were not eligible.
Than̈kß
If Penn State had accepted their invite to this game, they would have played UNC.
Interesting. Too bad they didn't accept.
@@joetolstoy3573 They were also invited to the Liberty Bowl. They declined that invite as well. There was a racial component to the whole thing.

@@joetolstoy3573 I didn't see it! Thank you! I'll go find it.
I watched this as an 8 year old kid in Virginia…never knew I’d end up living in Arizona and being an ASU Football fan.
