I have a 2500 series ecotank printer that has worked well for us (on my wifes computer) Only problem was that it needed the print heads cleaned, which cost me some paper towels and some ammonia. Video online showed me how. I have been so tired of HP charging a gonad for printer ink that I chunked my 4 in 1 and picked up a ET-2850 at BJ's. Works well with Linux Mint and MX Linux.
I've been using the Epson EcoTank ET-8500 for just over 12 months now and I've used about a quarter of the ink.I find the app to be a bit glitchy from time to time, but I usually print from my Desktop anyway so its not that much of a problem for me but may be for others.Very happy with it so far.
I've heard that these need to be used frequently (at least once a week) or else the nozzles dry or something. As someone who prints like once a month at most, has anyone else with this printer experienced the dry up?
If I remember right, in the 90s, Epson was considered the best printer in the world and could print color photos so sharp that you wouldn't know they were't printed from film. But the cost of the ink caused me to get rid of mine. Now, they are wise, and I bought one of these just yesterday.
Cool, but do they still have a built in firware timer that locks it up when an ink sponge need replacing you and forces you to send it back to the factory or buy a new printer?
My ecotank 3850 prints alot sharper than the HP 8600 or 9011? at school. the last one I can't remember exactly I just know it 962 ink whinch cost 117 dollars for ink for all.
Something NO ONE so far has mentioned---- Can one REMOVE the print heads to clean them? I can take my canon print heads out and soak the base in alcohol over night-and set them on a paper towel for 24 hours and put them back in my printer for crystal clear perfect printing for a LONG time.
Yes, but it's a piece of crap. Ink good, copy great, print pictures fantastic, ink prices good (you can use generic w/o problems). Now here are the cons: ADF (auto Doc Feeder) will go out, no solution and can't be fix. The printer has a print counter so you printing is limited. The print counter can not be reset by the printer, you need to buy a non-Epson print counter reset software online everytime and it only resets to about 70% to 80% of the counter. You need to replace the Ink waste tank when it's full or you can not print. It's tied to the print counter. The ink waste tank comes with a chip but most does not. It's supposed to reset the print counter but it does not work. There are more, you will find that out if you buy these printers.
My ET-2875 can print dobbeltsided manually. But only whole documents. That is if you have a 100 pages document you can not only print 10 pages . I assume this is a software error but the agent seems uninterested to alert the manufacturer. The software is App epson smart Panel
but you still can't replace the sponged cartridge. well, you could but there is no way to tell the printer you've done it. We need to be able to replace them and reset the firmware.
It's a piece of crap. The ink is good but the copy counter does not reset automatically when replacing the Ink waste tank. You have to buy a non Epson copy counter reset software online every time and it only reset 80% of the counter. If you are a small business that waste ink tank will cost you in the long run. The waste ink tank does not have a chip and when it does, It does not work to reset the counter. The ADF (Auto Doc Feeder) also goes out and you will have problems. There is no solution.

I cleaned my wifes et2500 series with paper towels and ammonia. Found video online. Easy to do and works great.
Thank you. Extremely helpful.
Does ET-4800 print borderless photos?
Yes, but it's a piece of crap. Ink good, copy great, print pictures fantastic, ink prices good (you can use generic w/o problems).

Why does my Epson EcoTank ET 5180 not print with vivid colors if I'm using the original ink 🧐
That is my question also.
Thank you

I bought it and was told the sponge can be sent in and changed for 50 dollars but the person said hers was over a 5 year use.
Can you print stickers on it ?
Yes
