- Goliath is a great name for a coaster - apparently Six Flags agrees. These are the world's coasters named GOLIATH, ranked from worst to best.

I still think Goliath Jr not being called simply ‘David’ is a missed opportunity
Would have been perfect
I agree
yeah but calling a coaster david does sound kinda stupid
Omg I just realised what this comment meant 😂😂😂! This is brilliant! Imagine if they did call it David! 😂😂😂😂
Mt Olympus should build a giga (Goliath) and a small RMC (David)
There were so many great one liners in this video. “With the help of Google Maps and the Pythagorean Theorem, you can see I’ve never ridden Goliath” Kudos on this one Chris!
This is a very solid line delivered so quickly and in such an understated way that it was just perfect.
or “you staple me I hate you forever. No exceptions.” hahaha
I was dying
7:45
First ElToroRyan, now Taylor. Chris is getting savage now
Well, it's the offseason at most parks around the country, so maybe Chris is just going through some wintertime blues.
Please just name one coaster David, Six Flags...
That'd be a cool name for a small scale launch coaster or something.
7:41 I can’t tell you how hard I laughed at this part, this was so good to include Taylor from Coaster Studios when talking about that ride LMAO!!
I believe the reason why Goliath at La Ronde has Superman colors is because it was originally supposed to be at Astroworld, where it was to be themed to Superman. When Astroworld closed in 2005, the coaster ended up going to La Ronde instead.
Oh very interesting, did not know that
For once, my home park La Ronde isn't last at something ! Thank you SF for your originality, we made it into Chris's countdown 😆
true, that ride is the one that stands out the most in our home park
so your from Quebec
The big about the biblical Goliath was that he was a big dumdum who couldn't be bothered wearing a helmet and subsequently got nailed in the head with a 160km/h chunk of rock(the Old Testament doesn't like Philistines).
With this in mind, the most historically accurate way to use the name for a coaster would be for an SLC or similar that causes lots of headbanging.
How I rank the Goliaths
7. Goliath
6. Goliath
5. Goliath
4. Goliath
3. Goliath
2. Goliath
1. Goliath
Tell me what you think of my list and please share yours!
It’s a good list, however I’d switch Goliath and Goliath around.
@@RockBandHyenaOfficial I would switch Goliath and Goliath around, bump Goliath up a spot, and put Goliath in dead last.
1. Goliath
I've only ridden one
@@RockBandHyenaOfficial yeah I knew my ranking would be a bit controversial
@@_lunartemis I understand
Goliath at Fiesta Texas was my first B&M, but back when it was at New Orleans as Batman. It was so smooth back in 2004 and I marathoned it until I almost upchucked my funnel cake.
I also have a fond memory of Goliath at Over Georgia. My high school marching band was on a trip for a competition and we spent the first evening at Six Flags. My buddies and I all sat focused at attention for the on-ride photo and I gave a copy to my band director, good times!
Wait you went done something like that during a marching band trip!? Shit I'm in marching band and we don't stop for nothing. We go to different school and then go home
@@deathandbananas2152 yep! My high school traveled across the country several times, so we would stay out of town for the weekend. Furthest we ever went was Louisiana to New York City on a 22-hour bus ride!
I didn't expect to see the only "Goliath" I've ever ridden at number one. I haven't been to Six Flags Over Georgia in almost a decade, but the few rides I did get on Goliath were always so much fun.
Same!
The reason I heard why Six Flags New England replaced the old trains on Goliath is because thought the staggered Vekoma trains were confusing and difficult for guests to board. I'm still confused why they sourced the job to Premier.
In your opinion, do you think Six Flags might relocate this ride to another park? If so, might they bring back the old Vekoma trains?
Dude the jokes in this one are unmatched: fallout boy, pythagorean theorem, taylor making an appearance, and just the video premise as a whole! good vid
Goliath at Walibi Holland is a lot of fun! I don't understand why more people don't talk about it. It's definitely in my top 5 coasters.
Agree that walibi' holland's Goliath is amazing.
My guess why it is rarely talked about is probably because of expedition GeForce that is in my opinion an upgrade of Goliath. Still both coasters made it into my personal top 6
@@JB-fd8jyYou also now have Kondaa at the sister park which is just better. Goliath is still really excellent though. It’s just barely outside of my top 5
Goliath at SFOG was my first big coaster, so it has a very special place in my heart. Glad to see it getting the love it deserves! 😊
SAME
Goliath in Walibi Holland is the only Goliath I've ridden, but it's a great ride with great airtime! It's sister coaster stands in Holidaypark Germany and is called Expedition G-Force, which has even better airtime! And then they built Kondaa ;-) Hahaha!
While watching this, I couldn't help but think of the Coaster Parodies from CS, where Taylor covered this. Then seeing Taylor on here made me laugh more.
Well done, Chris.
Im a fan of all the love goliath at sfog has been getting recently in the community
What it really needs is a new Paint Job. Georgia Scorcher has been repainted twice since Goliath opened in 2006.
@@zacharyyamashita8554 And they need to do something about that rattle.
Only Chris would rank Six Flags New England’s Goliath over Magic Mountian’s Goliath.
Only Chris would rank Goliath over Goliath!
I mean Deja Vu was a great ride so I'll give him a pass this time
@@Lloyd00 yeah but that was deja vu, we are talking about goliaths and it technically wasn't a Goliath until it showed up in SFNE. I think he just did it because he hates SFMMs Goliath so much. I never got on the original Deja Vu, but I can say it looks awesome.
@@coasterfool1231 your right about his hate of Goliath, the ride is fine to me. You can argue semantics if you want but he made it pretty clear that the ranking was specifically because of what the ride used to be. And I'm okay with that, if you're not that's cool too
“You staple me, I hate you forever” - Airtime Thrills, 2022
YESSSSSS!! Thanks for taking my suggestion! Also, I was low key hoping SFOG would finally get a number one, so I’m glad that came through, hahaha
I love the Pythagorean Theorem bit.
Lately, your videos have been sooo fun. (I loved that Taylor joke)
I like that you even put in the effort to use the Goliath from my home country. Just shows you dont try to cut corners
I personally enjoy the drop on Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain, as it’s long and you definitely feel the speed when you’re going through the tunnel. I also think the airtime hill is pretty decent, however once you hit the mid course the rest of the ride is mediocre.
Love the Fall Out Boy album analogy. Especially because you only put their great albums on the screen 😂 perfect!
Love Goliath at Walibi Holland! The Netherlands is not known for the tallest coasters, (Goliath is still the tallest), but this coaster is still butter smooth and still one of my favourites ever...
“You staple me, I hate you forever. No questions” YES lmao
I am Dutch, so I only rode Goliath at Walibi Holland. I didn't expect it to come into second place, since it is less tall or fast than its American counterparts, but it is a fun ride with a lot of g-forces and some airtime. I still hope to experience o.g. Goliath one day, even though it might suck.
I just want to mention, on the sum-up of the layout of goliath at walibi holland, the stangle dive is something to mention. It is kind of hangtime while not going upside down, is an awesome element and should not be forgotten.
This is a wonderfully silly concept for a video. I’m sure there are other names almost as common that you could do this with! Or names that are similar enough that it would work, like the variations of Superman
Being comedic can backfire so quickly and become cringe very fast... you succeded and that deserves a 👏
I have been waiting for this video.. crazy that six flags couldn't come up with something more original.
The the Coaster Studios cameo. “He will staple you!” 😂😂😂
I live about 15 minutes from where the David-Goliath battle took place. I felt like telling that to the ride ops at SFGAm and then realized they probably don't care.
The reason why they replaced the trains on Goliath at SFNE was because they thought that the staggered seats were weird, and wanted something easier and simpler. That’s at least part of the reason
Didn't the old Deja Vu trains have an issue where taller riders could reach up and literally touch the track
@@PlamenDrop I believe so, I heard a lot of reasons when I worked there, I think that was one of them
@@PlamenDrop it had a max height for this reason
@@AirtimeThrills It’s just sad that Magic Mountains Deja Vu is getting scrapped instead of getting refurbished and sent back to Magic Mountain, such a waste of a formerly awesome Vekoma. The new trains just fried the main cable motor.
They also did it because the trains were extremely ruff
I really dig your videos. I enjoy how informative they can be to someone like myself, who LOVES coasters, but hasn't been to many parks.
The Pythagorean Therom joke was good.
“You staple me, I hate you forever”
You have a real knack for coming up with simple, unique video concepts - videos that nobody else has done, but when you watch it, you think, why didn't I think of that! Not just this one, but a lot of the other series you've done as well, really creative and outside the box, but but not too far, keep up the good work.
I only been on one Goliath, and that's the one in Holland, it is really big for someone who isn't used to coasters, I really had a fun time with it though.
Maybe Walibi Holland is not the most impressive park to most, but it is the most impressive one to me in the Netherlands, so hope you will be able to visit it once. To me it has been years, for obvious reasons, but I can't wait till it is easyly possible again.
I think many really like this park. Untamed, Goliath and Lost Gravity seem like an amazing Top 3. Sadly i wasn't there since 2017, therefore i didn't get to ride Untamed so far.
@Phantafan Untamed has been really fun as well, bit sad for the Robin Hood, but that coaster was getting old, and every ride gave me headaches, so I guess it was a good change.
Xpress: Platform 13, is also a nice coaster, feels really easy to ride, and I like theme coasters. c:
@@bijter robin hood fucking beat me up the last time i rode it ... it was kind of a horror show , but that was what made it kinda fun aswell ^^
@@bijter Untamed seems incredible, easily one of the best in Europe from what i have heard. I was surprised however how many people didn't like Robin Hood, i thought it was quite fun and wasn't too rough for me either.
And yeah, Xpress: Platform 13 is also pretty fun, even though it gets quite boring during the end and you should definitely prepare yourself for the corkscrew :D
@@phantafan7965 With Robin hood it really Depended on where you where sitting on how the ride was, Best seats where in the middle of a car (not above the wheels) and in the front car or last car, because the middle 2 would bump inbetween the cars in front and behind it. This still applies to wherewolf in Walibi Belgium wich was a brother of the Robin hood, still rocking the same style trains
That comment about Google maps and the Pythagorean Theorem really hit the spot.👌 Fun video!
This is the best title I've ever seen on any TH-cam video
Amazing commentary on this one
Ahhhhh you threw in a Google maps and Pythagorean theorem references. This is officially in your top 5 best videos of all time
Deja Vu had a issue with trains and weight. At Great America we also has this ride and it was removed after 3 seasons. The prior trains where too heavy to make it through the ride and failed too many times. Eventually it was down more than running.
We ended up going on the Goliath at SFOG this year when a nest of bees had decided to overrun the lift hill. They ended up shutting the ride down shortly afterwards, but i can say without a doubt that adding bees to s slow lift hill definitely up the intensity a good bit. Hopefully never doing Goliath with bees again. 😂😂🤣🤣
Adding bees to any coaster definitely ups the thrills but pretty much kills the re-rideability. LOL
Personally, “I think you know where this is going” is my favorite one.
When Goliath opened at New England, it had the original trains/staggered rows. It didn't change until a couple of years later!
I think this is my favorite video of yours yet. You really took my brain for a ride, there. That grading system.... it's like the ride quality divided ➗ by the relevance of the name? Or kinda? Love it.
I got 1 season of rides at SFNE on Goliath before they replaced the trains, then a year later came back and was excited to get on my 2nd favourite ride at the time, just to have those new trains hurt me in every way.
The reason they gave for the new trains was to increase capacity and reduce confusion because people would be confused which seats to sit in during dispatches.
It was so disappointing when Goliath went from a must ride id to laps of to a skip every time I went to the park.
Come on dude, Goliath ftw!
7:22 Google maps & the Pythagorean theorem really can do it all! That one could be my favorite, but for now, it's still Great America's. RMC & Intamin fanboy here.
Goliath at Walibi Holland:
Starts of with a powerful but short drop, especially in the back. This is followed by a good intensity air time hill. After a short turn to the right, riders almost get scooped upside down in the stengeldive, a very unique element. Then, a very fast lefthander provides some great forces after which you go over a buckle. The ride then provides even more forces with a helix over the water. The ride is almost done, but the best part is yet to come: three airtime packed hills combined with a very fast and forceful final turn.
Goliath in Walibi Holland is still one of my favorites. For its size, it packs more than some people expect.
Great vid :)
You forgot to mention the main attraction of the Dutch Goliath: It was the first coaster ever to feature a Stengel Dive on the third hill!
glad to see SFOG finally getting a W in one of these coaster vids!!!
Your videos always get me pumped for coaster season.
I just got my first Goliath credit and it was the OG. I liked it. It had power, even though it lacked airtime. That mid course is a buzzkill but that helix is amazing with the positive G’s.
Well I've only ridden one goliath from this list, and thats the one in my home park walibi holland, I can tell you this is a good solid ride, and the last bunny hops are indeed pretty good. It's pretty easy to get not stapled, and you will fly out your seat on these hops!! But another favorite on this ride for me is the Stengel Dive, that is so awesome!!
I have performed the goliath task of counting the number of Goliaths said during the video on Goliaths. The word “Goliath” was mentioned 41 times.
With the help of Google maps and the Pythagorean theorem I honestly almost did a spit take!
Loved this one
I've only been on one Goliath, and it was the SFOG one. I rode it in 2018, so I don't really remember much at all, but I remember that the airtime was great. Oh and also I accidentally ate a bug...
your content just keeps getting more and more enjoyable, great stuff man keep it up
Absolutely agree! For some reason, Goliath at SFOG is underappreciated in the community. Back row ride you are laughing through all bunny hops at the end. Great ride.
You come up with the greatest video topics. Always original.
Re: SFNE's Goliath. I don't know if there was a mechanical reason for the train change, but I did "hear" the new clientele couldn't figure out how to ride with their friends; the queue or station setup was confusing, so SF said 4 across seating. And it was done.
Honestly Goliath is a bit better than Goliath. But I feel Goliath is underrated in a way. But, we can all agree that Goliath is a good ride
My favorite out of these HAS to be Goliath
Yo hpe I feel like I see you in every video so I just wanted to stop by and say hi
@@EtaM29 hey thanks so much!
Fun idea! Thumbnail was great 😆
Goliath at " some random park in Europe " is the only one I've ridden. On a pretty much empty day, the longest wait I had to do for it was barely longer then a station wait, and hot take: it's better than the RMC Untamed in the same park.
wow rly ? i kinda have to doubt it , sadly ive only ridden robin hood , shortly after my last visit that change ewas announced and i was kinda bummed ...
@@cringer8107 It really Depends on what you prefer, Goliath has more floaty moments and big elements where Untamed has a lot of fast passed small hills and elements, making the latter more intens. I enjoy both equally as much as the ride experience is very different.
The Vekoma GIB is totally underrated in my opinion. Loved Deja Vu when it ran at SFGAm.
The “Dutch” Goliath is in my backyard and home park! And it was the best coaster in the park and BeNeLux for almost 20 years!!!
7:41 Taylor stapling us lol
I heard they wanted to replace Deja Vu’s trains on Goliath in order to reduce rider confusion and speed up loading. I don’t really agree with such a drastic measure, but I can kind of-almost-see what they were trying to do.
The fact they didn’t slam the old ones back on after they knew everyone hated the new ones is embarrassing, though. As you said, Aftershock at Silverwood is still great!
I think you stomped on Goliath at SFMM a little too much. It's fast, intense, and very smooth. You also get a decent moment of floater airtime. It's not the worst coaster of all time, but I'll admit it's not super good but not super bad like most enthusiast's make it out to be.
The 30 degree drop kinda breaks it for me
I’ve never found it to be a bad ride. Always have fun on it, but it’s so unexceptional.
I don’t find it to be the best but up front i do weirdly enjoy the mid course breaks because you feel like your floating out of the seat the whole way down that left turn haha
Best part about it is going on a Wednesday and not getting off of it.
I just hate the wasted potential
5:25 missed opportunity to include a “Don’t Staple Me Bro.”
I love the Goliath at Over Georgia! Haven't ridden any of the others though. Also, Goliath as a name being taken down by a kid (David) fits, as kids ride the Goliaths practically every day lol
Roller Coaster Season for 2022 is upon us! Keep up the good work! Goliath at magic mountain will make you gray out towards the end. I ride it twice and the ending is painful.
I like this concept of ranking rides with the same name. Not sure if there are alot. But keep them coming..
Thank you, enjoyed this video. I'm surprised you rank Goliath #1 from SFOG. SFOG is my home park. Goliath is my favorite coaster in the park. Awesome video.
They changed deja vu’s trains because they thought the staggered seating would confuse the GP and with my Silverwood visit this summer I can see why as no one in that station could figure out how to find there seat luckily my family had me to guide them 😂
That's correct also for some random reason dispatch were incredibly slow. Six flags thought having 4 across would also speed up loading allowing more riders👍
The video we didn't know we needed.
Loved it.
I loved the humor in this video, also personally the only Goliath I’ve ridden is the og, but I’d love to go on the one at Great America or Over Georgia
I Rode the one over Georgia because I live in Georgia. I loved the amount of air time you get and the amount of intense dives and turns which makes it more enjoyable even if your riding it again. Sure I’ll become a little Mundane after awhile but it still has those hills where your off your seat and dives that push you forward and backwards and down.
The video I never knew I needed but definitely needed
I love Goliath, just not that Goliath. I've never been on Goliath but dude I just LOVE Goliath. Man Goliath is also so cool.
Don’t forget Goliath is great too
Facts!
Finally a coaster I have ridden I am from Holland so I rode the one in Holland it's pretty forceful ,love your content
"With the help of google maps, an pyhtagorean theorem, you can see ive never ridden goliath." best quotwe of the century
I've ridden Goliath at Six Flags over Georgia. Just a super smooth and fun ride.
Thanks for the dinner reminder
One of your best videos to date!
Neat. They all look like fun. The one from Fiesta Texs sounds like Leviathan. I would love to ride all of them. Enjoyed your video. Thank you 😊
I feel like the RMC and Fall Out Boy comparison was MADE for me I laughed so hard
5:40 I could hear that El Toro Ryan footage
That Pythagorean theorem might be the most useful thing in the coaster world ....
They thought some dude who got killed by a 14 year old with a slingshot was a great name for their coasters.
Goliath at Six Flags Great America is one of the best wooden roller coasters I've personally ridden.
Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain is a very underrated ride. It's tall, fast, smooth, intense and I have no idea why it gets so much hate.
Goliath at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is one of the better B&M Batman clones in my opinion.
Goliath at Six Flags New England was obviously closed when I was there last summer and will more than likely stay that was.
I'll be trying out Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia when I go there for the first time next summer.
It's been a yr can you pls tell us how sfog goliath went?
Goliath in the Netherlands is my favorite Goliath out of all of these which I’ve ridden. Best airtime and positives. 2nd for me is Goliath in Georgia and then Goliath at SFGA. If Goliath at New England was still like Deja Vu at Magic Mountain it would be high on my list also.
What I miss about AstroWorld...all unique names from the Free fall, Arrow suspended, SLC even Batman The Escape. Yes! Goliath even surpassed Batman & Superman. Also Texas has 3 Batman clones (SFoTX) Sea World of Texas as well. Only one of them is named Goliath though.
Ok so… I love coasters, always have. Grew up going to Cedar Point, Kings Island, Geagua Lake. Was a member of ACE for like 15 years, even worked at CP for one summer “one and done, never again” have been to many opening days for many coasters….. and I actually almost love SAMM Goliath. It’s one of my favorite coasters and I didn’t get to ride till till I was almost 30. The only thing that keeps me from actually loving it is that damn MCBR. Other than that, yeah I love the damn thing! Also your comment about RMC and FOB was spot on since I freaking loved FOB back in the day, but I can’t be the only one who is starting to think that other than their rail coasters, are getting kind of stale. Yes they are amazing coasters, but still. I don’t know, maybe I’m just sad thinking of all the actual woodies that are being RMCed…. I haven’t rode Steel Vengeance yet since it’s been a decade since I’ve been back to CP, but Mean Streak was one of my favorite coasters ever… it seems I have unpopular coaster opinions
I've never been on Goliath, Goliath, Goliath, Goliath, Goliath, Goliath or Goliath
