the worst part of what Willow did to Tara is that Willow very well knows how much of a victim Tara was to extreme gaslighting by her family and then how her mind was scrambled by Glory and now this.
Exactly this. Tara JUST recovered from an extremely serious magical mind alteration. Willow being willing to subject her to something similar says... So much.
@@Dylan_Platt I often wonder how much Willow's dip into dark magick from S5 when she was raging against Glory affected her personality moving forward. Her powers grew significantly after that experience but I wonder if her grasp on boundaries and morality also shifted or if it was just a natural progression.
Willow was always a hacker since season one. Now she hacks minds. No diff….. 😬 Oh and Tara didn’t recover; Willow fixed her by hacking her and Glory (minds) also same with Buffy when she went catatonic. Willow’s been hacking minds since the last few episodes of season 5 after the dark magic dip. We weren’t mad at her for getting their minds out of those bad places back then why should we be mad at her now? Right? Right?… er… right?
@@cajah88 Willow has been having issues with her use of magic since before that. Even way back at the beginning of Season 5, when she was altering reality to make fire without bothering to properly balance it with water. She tends to not think of the consequences of her the things she knows she can do. Willow likes to take shortcuts. Magic is a method to take shortcuts.
this is in my opinion one of the most underrated episodes on season 6, i think it is done so well. Especially with how they show Xander after reveling the news to everyone. I think it is very realistic, i love that they didnt make it this picture perfect scene where everyone is the happiest they have ever been and everything is perfect like how it is portrayed in most shows/movies, i love how they show the doubt, questions, and fear that comes with getting married. not to mention how well this episode captured the dangers of going out with randoms boys, i just think Buffy truly is one of the best shows out there.
Absolutely love your observations on Willow sis, I also think it’s brilliant from a show-writing perspective, and you’ve noticed that Willow has been showing these traits and this progression in past seasons
One aspect that is easily overlooked is the method that Willow uses to put the spell on Tara so she forgets. Willow does not have to go to a spell book so Willow knows the spell. Willow goes to a box she has on her beauty chest and casually gets the flower out. Why is the flower there? Based on her actions it can be deduced that Willow has used the spell before, expects to use it again, and by having the flower ready has no qualms on wiping Tara’s memory of any problems with Willow. Your instincts are on the mark and will be part of several discussions in the future. Once again, excellent thoughts, reactions, and discussion.
I dont really have anything to add to yours and everyone else’s comments except keep up the great work! I really enjoy and look forward to your reactions! Thanks for bringing joy to this buffy lovers life ❤
The moment when Spike told her about patrolling was not about him. Let's say even if he decides to play with words, look at her reaction, it's about that. The old Buffy would have rolled her eyes, maybe said something rude to him and told him to "sod off". And this Buffy stands there staring at him with her mouth open and doesn't know what to say. Let's say he hinted at sex, and she didn't reject it. That's the idea.
I'm glad you've picked up on willows red flags previously, I feel like people are often surprised by willow here, and I very much remember that the first time willow tries to overwrite someone else's mind with magic without consent was very nearly three whole seasons ago in lover's walk, this issue has been brewing for a very long time
Willow messing with Tara’s mind is particularly violating because Glory messed with Tara’s mind. And to have the material (plant) right there, to know the spell and the magic already, implies that Willow has performed this spell before or has at least looked into it. That’s dark, Willow.
I've seen this show a million times, especially season 6 and it has never occurred to me that she might've done it before. This makes so much sense, though! I could absolutely see this being something she's at least researched
The Halloween episode in Season 4 was the haunted frat house party where they accidentally summoned Gaknar, the fear demon, the nasty looking but very short fear demon that got a very good look at the bottom of Buffy's shoe...
I think Dawn was in 8th grade in season five which could also place her at fourteen. Her school seemed like a middle school in the episode The Body, not a high school. When they place her as a freshman here that makes sense. The other option would be Dawn being held back a year and repeating freshman year, because she missed so much school in season five, but I think that would have been mentioned when they were preparing Buffybot for back to school night on why it was so important for the robot to pass muster. I have a feeling poor Dawn was probably in summer school and being tutored by Willow and Tara all summer anyway to even be allowed to be a freshman. Alyson Hannigan does a pretty good job making me disgusted at Willow and Amber Benson make me just want to protect Tara at all costs in their relationship. My side was drawn pretty dramatically and immediately and it was always going to be Tara's. What bothers me so much, is last season, Willow fought so hard to bring Tara's mind back from what Glory had done to it and this season she just casually wipes it away like it means nothing.
Season 4 does have a Halloween episode - the one where a bunch of College guys and Oz accidentily summon the Fear demon and the whole party gets trapped in the Frat house. How can you forget about Anya in a Bunny costume and Giles knocking down doors with a chainsaw ;-)
Exactly! She's been tempted to mess with people's minds for a long time now. And recall how she performs a spell in that episode to 'have her will done'. She has been magically bending the world to her desires, sometimes selfishly, for years now. Really great set -up by the writers.
It didn't make the TH-cam cut, but one of my favourite sequences is the standoff. Buffy: "Didn't anyone come here just to make out?" 1 couple raises their hands Buffy: "Oh, that's sweet. You run."
@@ceceliam9014 Yeah your right she is in that movie not a great film but a great cast Michelle,Lacy Chabert ,Katie Cassidy and Mary Elizabeth winstead
What Willow did is an insane violation, she basically wiped her girlfriend's memory without her consent. Also the way she did the spell like she had it mastered, was this the first time she did this spell?
Let's just hope that Willow didn't have sex with Tara on this occasion or on any of the other occasions on which she used that spell. If she did, she was having sex with Tara without Tara being in a position to give meaningful consent. They were getting awfully snuggly at the end there...
Willow has conflict avoidance issues. Remember that she said her parents never fought. Just sat at the dinner table silent. Willow doesn't like conflict with others, and she likes to take shortcuts. We see several instances of Willow using magic to do both of these in this episode. Using magic for the decorations, instead of putting them out by hand, wanting to shift everyone into an alternate dimension (even just for a second), and finally erasing the fight from Tara's mind.
I cannot stress how much I LOVE Willow and Tara's arguing at the Bronze with everyone else muted. It makes the scene so much more impactful! Also love that Buffy knows her way around Spike's crypt and just helps herself to his weapons. "I just want to taste you" 🤮🤮🤮 The degree of cringe I feel watching this scene! The writers knew exactly what they were doing. Dawn brought a pocket size stick with her just in case! (you can't tell me she found that lying around in the woods) She's grown so much since season five!
n All The Way, again we can see the tensions between Tara and Willow reaching new levels. Willow is gradually becoming totally addicted to magic, and the look that both Giles and Tara gave Willow was very telling. Xander eventually tells them of the impending marriage, which somehow gets overshadowed in the story here as we focus on Dawn. Dawn is course growing up now, and is very much under peer pressure from her friend. The date with the two guys is interesting in that when they go to the old man's house we are convinced it is him who is bad, only for one the guys to be a vampire and bite into him, replicating the very first scene in BTVS E1 S1 where Darla is the vampire and we were led to believe it was the boy she was with. Some funny comedy relief when they are all standing in a circle in the park, and the Vampire says 'are we gonna fight', and Buffy says 'did anyone come here just to make out' and the couple put their hands up. The juxtaposition of Buffy/Dawn interesting too, with Buffy acting like Joyce did was towards Buffy. I have to say at this point in the show I was really missing the Oz/Willow relationship, as it was so innocent and never had any arguments etc (except the big one of course), things of course are very different now, with constant bickering and mistrust with Tara. Dawn of course has her coming of age moment here with her first kiss and dusting her first vamp. The groundwork is continually being laid by the writers for the episodes ahead.

Everything about this show is wow: The animation, the storytelling, the plot, the characters, the themes, the music/soundtrack, the dubbing and I couldn’t not recommend this masterpiece, so on my knees I beg you to watch it and share your reaction with us. If you decide to watch it, the show is full on Netflix, please be careful with spoilers, I would recommend you not to watch any of the trailers because you could spoil yourself a lot and ruin the experience. lastly, if it’s not too much to ask, make a reaction video for each episode, that way the videos can be longer.
I know I don't have to explain how Willow is hurting others, especially Tara, but something we dont talk about is how Willow is hurting herself. In a way Willow is revisiting the events of Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. By taking away Tara's free will her true feelings for Willow sort of get called into question. It's funny to think that when Xander did the spell Willow already had prior feelings for Xander. According to Buffy it was harder for her than anyone because of those feelings. I wonder what that says about Willow, now? If anything at all.
YESSSSSSSS! I LOVE that you get how shitty Willow is being to Tara - it’s the real-world equivalent of drugging your partner and gaslighting them about it I still love Willow and want her to do better - I don’t like excuses being made for genuinely awful behaviour
I'd like to see Jessica lord or ruby rose turner play buffy later on future tv series because sarah didn't want to return to her own role because they did season 8 of comics book?
In Dawn's defense (and I can't believe I'm saying this) Halloweennis suppose to be supernaturally uneventful and 2) i keep thinking about Reptile Boy. When it's Buffy we are on her side because the show is from her perspective - here Dawn's is going g through the same thing but we just don't sympathize because this isn't Dawn's show.
Willow was definitely doing evil magic. Just by the way she sacrificed the animal, completely disrespectful and brutal. There are many cultures with animal sacrifice and they are done in a way that respects the animal and is as painless as possible, much more respectful than the meat that many people eat on a daily basis.
Willow casting a forget spell, going by some things is season 2 & 3; wrong, yes. Evil, no. More along the lines of a person in a relationship lying because they don't want to have that conversation/fight with their partner.
THIS IS A SPOILER! (But not for the TV series.) Putting lots of blank lines if you want to avoid it. "I'm gonna marry that girl." If you ever go into the post-Buffy TV into the comic seasons that came after, remember that line.
Janice is played by Amber Tamblyn. She would go on to star in her own show Joan of Arcadia (watch this, not the movie about a single pair of pants that get shared by 4 different people. Gross).

Willow is going down a dangerous path.
I need her to see next asap
We are here
I got a feeling 😊
Once Again With More Feeling! and Tabula Rasa next episodes... AWWWW
YESSSSSSSS! I LOVE that you get how shitty Willow is being to Tara - it’s the real-world equivalent of drugging your partner and gaslighting them about it
I still love Willow and want her to do better - I don’t like excuses being made for genuinely awful behaviour
An addict is an addict ....
I'd like to see Jessica lord or ruby rose turner play buffy later on future tv series because sarah didn't want to return to her own role because they did season 8 of comics book?
What Willow did is even worse when you consider that Tara previously had her mind violated by Glory. Willow's selfish callowness here is awful.
❤❤❤
I must be down bad because I totally would have let Dawn’s vampire boyfie turn me😭
THIS IS A SPOILER! (But not for the TV series.) Putting lots of blank lines if you want to avoid it.
"I'm gonna marry that girl." If you ever go into the post-Buffy TV into the comic seasons that came after, remember that line.
Lol yeah, which I hated the decision so much!
Yeah this man's a walking ick
Janice is played by Amber Tamblyn. She would go on to star in her own show Joan of Arcadia (watch this, not the movie about a single pair of pants that get shared by 4 different people. Gross).
You forgot Faith when it comes to controversal females.
time for some Britney spears reactions, if you do, please, do the deluxe version, Baby One More Time 1999 (pop) Oops I Did It Again 2000 (pop) Britney 2001 (pop and RnB) In The Zone 2003 (pop, RnB and Urban) Blackout 2007 (dark pop)
0:59 😅

Sorry but that was an inept use of the word inept. 😀
