  • Here's episode 1 of a new series of videos I'm calling Love At First Scent.
    This was a Facebook Live broadcast which was streamed on Friday 28th April 2017. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
    To find out why it's called Love At First Scent... you'll just have to watch the video ;-)
    Perfumes mentioned in this video include:
    Escentric 04 from Escentric Molecule
    Oud Essentiel from Guerlain
    Renegade Geza Schoen from Project Renegade
    You Or Someone Like You from Etat Libre D'Orange
    Love Relentlessly from Tory Burch
    Hyacinth And A Mechanic from Tauer Perfumes
    (Samples of the above were provided by the brands, except Hyacinth And A Mechanic, which I obtained myself.)

    Mr. P- over the last year or so I have caught a few of your episodes and have enjoyed them very much. This week I found your interview with Mr. Edwards and was captivated. For who he is in the industry, it was more like a fireside chat with a treasured friend than an interview. The stories were beautifully told and very thoughtful. It is a rather English rainy day here in Nashville, so I pulled out my grandmother’s bottle of Youth Dew, spritzed, smiled at what memories the scent triggered, ordered both books from Mr. Edwards, and now I am going down a rabbit hole of your catalogue to learn more about the power of scent. Thank you for being on this platform and sharing your knowledge and perfume ’nerdiness’ with the world. You make this subject very approachable to the uneducated like myself. Cheers!

      I agree. I haven't read his writings yet but have seen a few of his videos and that already "speaks" for it. And the reason why I am binging on this channel now :)

    About the earliest I can find Live, besides you, is Coachrob.
    Coachrob discusses a number of perfume topics, not reviews on 4/17/2017.
    It all depends on how you use different search words, Live, Streamed, Live Chat in what will turn up and because
    of how the tech changed, but so far there is one like You, or Someone Like You, back then.
    Very nice work there Mr.P.

    Going way back to the beginning😃You are certainly a creature of habit! Thank you for mentioning the sirens in advance! Going back to the beginning was a Mandy Patinkin line from The Princess Bride, a fave film.

      @@Persolaise just the usual, writing names on blotters, folding them in half, facial expressions, the occasional double-entendre, matching shirts with the perfumes on display. The one difference I see is you were moving bottles around like chess pieces back then, whereas now you gently nudge them into place.

    Thank you very much for this video. Its really long (nearly an hour!!!) but i watched it attentively till the end as i've really enjoyed your style of vlogging. You have a very crystal clear way of explaining your thoughts and I can see your point of view almost immediately.
    I did enjoy my sample of You of Someone Like You. Its comes across a refreshing mint/ something rosy with clean soft musk. Very pleasant overall but not what i had in mind when it comes to Los Angeles. I thought Herba Fresca was much more exciting scent relatively although i did not enjoy the laundry detergent dry down on my skin.

      gunmetal24 Thanks so much for watching. Yes, the video is long: I guess I just get carried away. But thank you so much for your patience.
      'Exciting' is a good word for Herba Fresca, especially in comparison with YOSLY.

      @@Persolaise The great thing is that it's on video so you can always rewatch it, though it can be disconcerting to watch oneself sometimes haha... but also, it's in the Description, the perfumes/names you reviewed. So good on you that you've kept up with this documenting this info.

    Why are we supposed to spray the skinny side of the strip? I get it for perfumers’ dipping in a bottle (to fit in the skinny neck of a bottle) but if spraying, most of it sprays around the paper rather than hitting it. Isn’t it better to spray on a wider piece of paper?

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amy Leonhardt Amy, thanks so much for watching. There are no rules about this at all: just do whatever works best for you 😊

      Persolaise Perfumes 😁Yes, I do what I want, but I see the SA’s twitch when I do that and I’m wondering why. 😁

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Amy Leonhardt As far as I know, it’s exactly what you said: a tradition that goes back to a time when blotters were dipped into bottles. Plus, when you want to place a blotter on a surface - like a table - and you fold the part bearing the fragrance, it’ll balance more easily on the wider section, if you see what I mean.

    It's funny that you mentioned the truffle thing about Javanol. Last month I tested the whole Escentric Molecule Range and when it comes to Molecule 04, I was really shocked and had to wash off this sticky, milky Javanol thing until my skin was red, but the Escentric 04 seemed to be really pleasant to my nose and I thought, how can I hate one single Aromachemical that much and nearly love it in a composition? The dose makes the poison 🤢

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a pity! I immediately loved "You or someone like you", but I also need to know what the notes are!
    Anyway it reminds me too of "Herba fresca", but even more so of "Dirty" by Lush.

    I have a question, what is the reason you fold the papers?

    • @Persolaise

      It’s just so that the perfume doesn’t come into contact with any surfaces and potentially get contaminated.
