This coaster is my absolute favourite. As an annual pass-holder to Tivoli Gardens I have a ritual to ride it as the first and last ride of the day at every visit I make to the park. Don't let any video of it fool you, it can be quite savage when the breakmen don't break as much and you sit in the last car (preferably the last seats in the train). The 2014 additions to the ride (the mountaintops and the tunnel on the second 180-degree turn) is stunning. To be more than 100 years old it still kicks ass.
I loved this old coaster when I road it a few years ago. Wooden coasters are the best! Of course being in this historic Copenhagen park carried its own magic.
Just a historic ride at an even more historic park - Tivoli Gardens is a must on any enthusiasts bucket list. I mean it literally inspired Walt Disney in the 40's when he was creating Disneyland
Wow! Amazing ride! I have seen scenic railways before, but this one really has some pretty large drops. Definitely the nicest scenic railway I have seen and it looks like it runs very smooth too. It is a shame that roller coasters like this are not built anymore. The alpine theming on this is amazing. Having the brakeman on board certainly adds a bit of an element of each ride being different. They need to build something like this here in USA. I know we have Leap The Dips, which is the world's oldest running roller coaster, but we don't have anything like this scenic railway. But many years ago we did have them here too. Coney Island was known for them. But this is one of the nicest wooden coasters / scenic railways I have ever seen. I am glad to see that it is running well.
What was the first part about up to about the 2:13 mark where they were going through the tight turns that looked like the walls of someone's living room? Are they just showing how they bring the trains out for the real ride? Either one looks like a blast.
I am 98% sure that this is an original L.A. Thompson Scenic Railway, a company founded by LaMarcus Adna Thompson (b. 1848 in Jersey, Ohio, USA; d. 1919, Glen Cove, New York, USA), who was married to Ada Nixon, my great grandmother's little sister. Ada's brother-in-law was my great grandfather, Edward Donaldson (b. 1867, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA; d. 1936, Glen Cove, New York, USA), who was a vice president and director of the L.A. Thompson Scenic Railway Company. I was delighted to find this scenic railway in Copenhagen (which began operation in 1914), as I had thought the only remaining L.A. Thompson Scenic Railway was in Luna Park in Melbourne, Australia. Now I must visit Copenhagen.
One of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the world! The coolest part of the roller coaster is the roller coaster brakeman. I would be interested to know how many rounds he has to turn a day. ;) Greetings from Germany!
I always find it nice how you guys show your little miss rollercoaster in your vids. she has grown a lot! nice vids, though not a lot of ''tour'' in this one. it's more ''ride'' lol
For all of those asking about the man that 'controls' the ride. 1.) No, he does not have a seatbelt on. 2.) Yes, he is safe - Why? 3.) Because the roller coaster does not contain any big slopes. 4.) They're all maniacs, so they pretty much also stand up while they control it, tickle the ones in front of him/her or scare them. Especially if kids sit in front of them 5.) It's usually guys. I've been there for 12 years now, and I've never seen a girl sit there, probably because she might not have the physical power to do it. 6.) They used to have seatbelts, but then they removed it because it didn't really do much. Yup.
Why don't you try great Yarmouth in England they have a coaster that is still driven by a man it's very good it's a scenic railway and is one of the best x
@@sangennaroaiutacitu you are literally judging me by a comment 15 year old me posted? I'm sure you got something better to do, but if you don't, then you really need to get something better to do
No, not for wooden in general, but it is for SIDE FRICTION coasters of the Scenic Railway type. There are no upstops on the train, it's riding in a trough. Only gravity holds it on... and the brakeman.
Your screams or “whoas” were very annoying throughout the ride, I would have a headache hearing that if I sat near you and the joy would be taken from the ride
For a hundred year old coaster, is it in amazing shape! The track seems so smooth. You can tell it has been lovingly cared for.
It totally is
the ''brakeman'' has the most awesome job in the world!
There really do ^.^ and it's fun to take the ride with different people because it has different speeds^.^
Awesome
Martijn stuy the brake man barkes the train

So much fun when I went here 15 years ago! Tivoli was a great place to visit
I love scenic coasters like this, I feel like the environment can make them an overall more exciting experience than a more intense stand-alone ride

The classics never die.
"Jacob, you ready for this?"
"OH YEAH!"
:)
We still have a scenic railway with a brakeman at Luna Park, Melbourne, Australia.
I LOVE this coaster.
A breakman?! That's incredible!
I live in Denmark and this rollercoaster is AWESOME
This rollercoester is 100 years old
Scenic Railways look so serene.
so now i only know of Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach and Tivoli Garden that have brakeman roller coasters ~
they are still the best coasters to me.
Why can't family coasters be more like this?
What was the first part about up to about the 2:13 mark where they were going through the tight turns that looked like the walls of someone's living room? Are they just showing how they bring the trains out for the real ride? Either one looks like a blast.
I have a Tecnofix 1969 roller coaster made in West Germany. Just about to film t for my channel. To ride the rails on the original is super special!

It was build by Walther Queenland in 1914
I am happy for the dark tunnels in this roller coaster I like the tunnels.
Can you imagine US health and safety, just shaking their heads at every aspect of this ride. Looks cool as hell.
Why? It's perfectly safe.
The breakman aspect is what would probably have most US parks saying no. IDK this ride is perfectly safe and fun so
He’s not saying it isn’t safe. He’s just saying it wouldn’t be allowed in America
that brakeman must have buns of steel
I have been there yesterday. It was awesome.

That would be a job of total concentration, but total fun too.
That thing moves
TPR. What is the list of the top 10 roller coasters you have ridden?
When was the scenery built? I doesn't seem like the coaster was built with the scenery...
That was the scenery almost... The coaster is 100 years old.. And now there's no light in the tunnels, that's the only difference
They have changed the scenery 3 times i think and the last time was in 2014.
That is super cool
As a Dane, the staffs accents are horrible
+Kaya Roed Indeed
