    I am totally new to acrylics and love your Acrylics in 10 minutes series. These tutorials are so great for beginners because of the short period of time and limited palette, that makes painting less intimidating and encourages me to practice more often.

    Why is your voice so soothing to the ears? As much as I'd like to focus on the painting, I get sleepy because of the calmness of your voice.

    this is beautiful, and you make it look so easy. I'm going to try this one today. it looks like a scene that my brother would maybe see from his window in Washington state.

    Another great job and beautiful painting, Ryan. Thank you, again. :) I'm going to give this one a try. I did your Cherry Blossom painting back in February; not the one just a week or 2 ago; which I also love very much. I was tempted to do your Cherry Blossom Field because I love the cherry blossoms so very much. But I'm going to try this one first. This looks fun.

    Awesome! Fantastic work Ryan! I'm hoping to see a 10 minute for something sea side or underwater in one of your videos because I can never do one in those themes quick and it would be cool to see one that can be done in that time. :D Thank you for the video!

    Hey Ryan I love your 10 min paintings. But I haven't got canvas with me right now so can these be drawn on paper in the same way?

    Hi Ryan, that is exciting you are going to have hour long classes. Will you be showing us how to do the drawing first? Thanks Ryan.

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I won't be doing a drawing portion. However, as of May 1st I will be including gridded line-art of each piece so everyone can copy it fairly easily :)

    Ryan, this is only the second week I have seen your tutorials and you make me feel like I can attempt this. It appears your canvases are quite small. I have acquired a canvas that I want to reuse but it is a little larger than what you are using. Do I just up the size of the brushes?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really happy to hear that the lessons are aiding your confidence in painting. I would actually advise using the same sized brushes. The larger canvas will just give you more room to add additional strokes and detail work :)

    Gorgeous work as always! My first attempt at one of your 10 minute paintings was a bit of a disaster lol, the second attempt at least looked similar to the next painting I attempted, and the third one turned out amazingly well - I've gotten so many compliments and I tell everyone that it's because of your tutorials I managed to create it. Thank you so much for these tutorials! They not only offer beautiful art to look at, awesome techniques, but also inspire the confidence that anyone can paint (granted, to varying degrees of success haha) if you just keep on practising.
    I'm wondering about your paints though - you use primary colors for all of the paintings I've watched so far, but the set of liquitex paints that I bought don't come with primary colors, but rather ultramarine, cerulean etc. Can you give names of colors that would be closest to the primary ones you use for those of us that don't have the primary colors?

    • @Debbyiamme
      @Debbyiamme 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ForCryinOutLoud O'Neill I ran into a simular situation. Here's what the situation is; you bought Liquitex Heavy Body paints. I did, too and didn't realize it. LOL If you get the Liquitex Basics but make sure that it's not the soft body. If you want the closest of the heavy body to the primary colors; I think that I can help you out on that. According to the artist Lee Hammond, I got her book and she uses Prussian Blue, Cad Yellow Medium Hue and Cad Red light Hue. Check my spelling; I'm close enough for you to get the right ones, though. The blue is super dark and just need a tiny bit when mixing with white. Good luck; I hope this helps.

      I bought the liquitex basics from amazon - 48 colors. I'll check for those colors in my box. Thank you for the help!

      Much appreciated and I'm really happy to hear that you're now finding success with you work! Like you my first couple paintings didn't go as planned, but with practice we all get to where we want to be :) In regards to which colors you should be using, I have a sem-complicated answer. I use the primary colors in these lessons because they are malleable and it ensures the audience doesn't have to go out and buy a litany of colors. However, if you have the additional colors you can dive into some more advanced techniques/color choices.
      So, to begin, if I were you I wouldn't try to match the primary color but rather ask yourself what mood you want the painting to have. If you want your painting to feel cool, use a cool blue. If you want your painting to feel warm, use a warm blue. Each color has warm/cool versions of it's self. You can find out if a specific color is warm/cool by typing "Is _____ a cool or warm color) Primary colors are innately neutral and must be edited to be cool/warm. You don't have to do said editing, you can simply choose a cool/warm pigment. Here is a great resource to learn more and get started www.janeblundellart.com/warm-blues.html www.janeblundellart.com/cool-blues.html
      Again, I know this answer is kind of complicated but I hope it helps!

      Jane Blundell has an excellent website concerning color pigments. A great example is looking at the color Ultramarine Blue, This is typically considered a "warm" shade b/c it has a purple undertone. Colors leading towards purple, red, etc are warm colors according to the color wheel. Phthlo Blue, on the other hand, can be either "cool" (green shade) or "warm" (red shade) depending on which pigment color you chose. These apply to watercolors on Blundell's website, but pigment is pigment inspite of the paint/medium you're working with, if that makes any sense. It can get very complicated, but if you'd like to learn about pigments, warm vs cool, her website is a great place to do some reading. If not, the basics will do just fine and stay with the primary colors. Hope this helps a bit...

    Question. Do you use water?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do! I keep my brushes relatively damp, except when I know I'm going to want to do the tapping effects, as water condenses the bristles. Hope that helps!
