    Hi, I like the project. can you tell me how heavy it is and what engines you use? I'm trying to make a comparison for my project which I think will weigh somewhere at 100kg

      Thanks! I am using two 24V 250W motors with 50:1 gearboxes. With its new lithium battery it weighs about ~60kg. It has plenty or torque and can tow me (84kg) with ease.

      at the moment I have 2 * 250w and 2 * 300w motors but I don't know how much I should reduce them. I have four sets of gears about 38 with 8 teeth. need to be reduced more?

    • @R3cHin13
      @R3cHin13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      or buy 24v 500w motors?

    • @basement_robotics
      @basement_robotics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@R3cHin13 I am always a fan of big 500W motors, but your 350W motors sound like a good option. A good combination of torque and speed on these types of vehicles is usually 30:1. I only used my 50:1 gearboxes because I found the matching set in a scrap yard and they were free. I would try and get something close to 30:1 with your 350W set and see how that goes. If you're not satisfied with the performance then upgrade to the 500W. Hope this helps!

      in the case of my sprockets (38: 8 +38: 8) would it be 4.75 * 2? 9.5: 1? I don't know if I'm right. it would be little compared to your project.

    Hey, this is so nicely build! I did a tracked robot myself (no vids yet), with 24v, 500W motors and a 26:1 gear reduction, 24v Lifepo4 40 ah battery and a cultivator rubber tracks. Will do different attachments for it to plow, cut grass, spray and so on. Tho I did build it to have more ground clearence...

    • @basement_robotics
      @basement_robotics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah the ground clearance in this vid is pretty lame. At the time when I was building this I had to make sacrifices since it was mostly scrap I had lying around. I updated the track and sprockets earlier this year (no video yet either haha) and it has WAY more ground clearance now for rougher terrains. Can’t wait to see a vid of your project!

      @@basement_robotics here is a vid of a test. I didnt have time to build any attachments but maybe this will be the winter project.

    Nice build. I'm working on something similar. Did you build that track, or is it available somewhere?

    • @basement_robotics
      @basement_robotics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I built the track myself. It is 2060 chain with tabs I welded onto it. Then I bolted some sheet metal cleats I also made onto the tabs. I just modified the track so now I can attach rubber pads so it can drive over concrete and asphalt without damaging them.

    • @solarsynapse
      @solarsynapse 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@basement_robotics That is a big chain! If you are not aware, they make attachment chain that has the tabs already made on. Makes life much better. Really kewl build! My dozer is roughly 140+ pounds, but I used 2 12V 35A AGM batteries in series with wheelchair motors.

    • @basement_robotics
      @basement_robotics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@solarsynapse Thanks! I looked into attachment chain before the build, but 2060 chain with attachment links was wayyy out of my price range so I had to make do with normal chain and a bunch of scrap steel bar stock I already had. You dozer sounds like it is about the same size as mine here. It was initially about 170 using the same 12v 35Ah battery setup, but I was able to shave some weight off using a repurposed LiFePO4 battery my employer was getting rid of.

    Lets see, Motor: 24vdc 50 to 1 gear motor. Tracks: #35 conveyor chain with 1 1/2 " flats. 24 teeth sprockets, 12 V battery, why not 20 volt battery with a voltage regulator? One thing for sure, you did this well!

    • @basement_robotics
      @basement_robotics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It's actually 2060 chain that I welded my own tabs onto for custom track cleats. The battery is 24V LiFePO4 and it works really well!
