Johnny gives Lara a huge gift by inviting her to his show at the Stade de France in 1998 for 3 nights!!! He loved Lara and he wanted her to demonstrate her vocal power and shine in front of 80,0000 people. Johnny in all his generosity.... On this third and last performance the sound of Lara's microphone is in her favor, it was at maximum (it resonated..) and Johnny's was lower.. It was Johnny who asked that it be done like that. Lara herself confirmed it. Know that Johnny was a vocal power too, but in this last performance he did not want because it was done on purpose, Johnny was very intelligent in doing that to make the song more dramatic and show their acting on this magnificent song that belongs to him. The desired goal was the dramatic side of the singing all in power but less than Lara (Johnny) with both next to him a more striking singing power (Lara) and the passionate play between the two. Everything was imagined by Johnny himself to end this last interpretation in beauty. And on top of that, this miraculous rain to make it a masterpiece, perhaps the most beautiful duet in the world.🎉💥💫

Ok I will try to give the full context: • Johnny : The most admired singer in France from early 60s to 2017 when he died. He is the Elvis of France, sold more than 110M records WW. His concerts were huge! To give you an idea on how big he was in the french music history, just 3 anecdotes: 1/ as a teenager, he was mentored by Edith Piaf herself ! 2/ He was the first one who gave his chance to a young guitarist and his band, as a supporting act to his concerts during his 1966 tour. Name of the band: the Jimi Hendrix Experience! 3/ When he died in 2017, there were national funerals, with hundred of bikers on the Champs-Elysees, 1 million people long the path of the funeral procession. And this song was played when the coffin penetrated in the church. Johnny was a real vocal powerhouse, but for this concert , in this last night, best perf, the mics were balanced in favor of Lara: he wanted her to shine and found this gave more drama to the duet. • The song: this is an anthem song for him, that he used to sing alone. This was turned into a duet for Lara. The story of the song was created in reference to a very famous old french classic movie: Le Jour se Leve (1939) where the main character is barricaded and surrounded by the police, having killed a bad man who was his rival in love affairs. Here it becomes more a « Bonnie and Clyde » scene where the main character and her girlfriend are defying the police. • The venue/event: Johnny’s concerts in Stade de France ( biggest stadium in Paris and France) in front of min 80,000. Lara was one of the surprise special guest. They were supposed to perform it 3 times in a row on September 1998 (4th, 5th and 6th). The first night on the 4th, it was deluge of rain, the scene was outdoor, it was risky and they decided at the last minute, with the crowd in the stadium, to postpone it to Sep 11th . Johnny was devastated. The second night and the third night the weather was fine enough. The orchestra and choir setup was amazing, the choir especially which was distributed on huge stairs climbing to the sky. But the night of 11th, the rain was here again. Johnny absolutely refused to cancel this time. This is this Sep 11th show that you just watched and the rain just added some dramatic effect to the whole performance. The orchestra was located under a tent. The choir was grouped on the floor and on some balconies (not on stairs anymore obviously) • Lara: she was at the beginning of her career in France and this performance became legendary and accelerated her fame there. She was unknown in France when, in February 1998, she performed this song in duet with Johnny for Les Enfoires, the most attended France TV Show of each year. Johnny was so surprised and amazed by Lara performance that he decided to do this song again as a duet with her for the 3 big concerts a few months later. In between February and September, the album Pure from Lara had become an absolute mega hit in France, and Lara was already a star. But this live performance where she performs as a surprise guest definitely extended her fame and she got new fans across the entire country.

A little story about this song and i will let Eric Sicard tell you the rest. The year is 1997 Johnny Hallyday was the biggest rock star in France and Lara was at her beginning but already well known. This event was at the stade of France in Paris in front of 80,000 spectators, 3 nights in a row. When Johnny died in 2017 more than a million peoples went to his funeral in Les Champs Elysee. For Johnny, Lara was the female version of him, that says a lot.
The meaning of this song (which was originally sang all by Johnny, and became a duet for the purpose of this concert) is the story of a man, hiding at dawn, surrounded by the police, because he killed the woman he loved. The lyrics are that man's point of view. He's basically preparing himself to the idea of being arrested, or maybe killed by the police, and explains that the reason he killed his woman was that he loved her so much that he did this to keep her to himself. He is a mad man, mad out of love.
This was indeed in the rain at the Coeur du Stade. The song is about a man who kills his woman rather than losing her. Johnny was one of France's most famous singers. He received a state funeral.

It's a song by Johnny Hallyday from the magnificent album "Derrière l'amour" from 1976. When Johnny sings this song alone in concert he puts on more intensity. Here on this duet less because he would have asked that we lower his microphone to make Lara shine. Johnny in all his generosity...
Thank you for your great reaction! The "Requiem" word is a song addressed to the dead, a sort of prayer for a funeral. This refers here to the story of this man (normally sung for one voice, but here split over two voices with Lara in addition) who committed murder, because he was so in love with this woman that he killed her. so a first Requiem for her... But it's also the swan song of this man, surrounded by the police, who will soon die and who is ready to die, to be able to find her in the afterlife and be eternally bound to it.
A legend... Johnny Hallyday was born on Tuesday, June 15, 1943, in Paris and passed away on the night of December 5 to 6, 2017, in Paris at the age of 74. He is the son of a Belgian father and a French mother. In 57 years of career, he recorded around 1300 songs. 180 songs were turned into music videos or scopitones. 758 authors and composers collaborated with Johnny. Johnny composed 105 songs himself and also composed about ten pieces for other artists. He also wrote and co-wrote a few songs. Johnny also has 545 duets with 188 different artists on 214 tracks. His first 45 RPM record was released on March 14, 1960, but it was on December 30, 1959, that he was heard for the first time on the radio in the show "Paris cocktail." On April 18, 1960, under the "patronage" of Line Renaud, he made his first television appearance in "L'école des vedettes." 57 years later, 93 certifications including 41 gold records, 4 double gold records, 23 platinum records, 8 double platinum records, 5 triple platinum records, and 12 diamond records (including one double diamond and one triple diamond) testify to an exceptional career, crowned by 10 Victories or Special Victories or Music Honor Victory. And 2 NRJ Music Awards. Johnny is the most acclaimed French artist and the one who has sold the most records in France. The number of units sold is estimated at 200 million, including more than 110 million records sold. Imagine if he had had an international career... With 805,000 sales in one week of "Mon pays c'est l'amour" (51st album) (posthumous album), Johnny was ranked No. 1 worldwide in 2018. A stage beast recognized by all, Johnny went on more than 184 tours and attracted nearly 30 million spectators throughout his career, having given more than 3502 concerts. Johnny is the only French artist whose almost complete works have been recorded in audio and video. About twenty fan clubs (approximately 10,000 members in total). Johnny is also an actor with no less than 43 films (including appearances) to his credit throughout his career. He received a "Jean Gabin" award in 2004 for the film "L'homme du train". Johnny was a good actor, but the films they offered him were not good films, unfortunately.. He dreamed of being an actor and not a singer, but life had other plans, and fortunately so!! Johnny was a great friend of animals, he always had dogs in his life, the animal cause was close to his heart, in 2002 he performed a magnificent song against those who abandon their animals. The song is titled "Au bord des routes" from the magnificent album "À la vie à la mort." In 2016, a year before his death, he was on a motorcycle road trip with friends on American roads, and it was then that he found an abandoned puppy by the side of the road. He couldn't resist and adopted her; the little dog is named "Cheyenne." He also sang a song that evokes the brutal repression by Chinese authorities of the Tiananmen Square protests in June 1989; the song is titled "Tienanmen" from 1991. He was a man with a big heart. He was made a knight of the Legion of Honor in 1997, he has also been an officer of the Order of the Crown since 2001, but above all, he has been a knight of the Arts and Letters since 1995. He has sung in several languages (English, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Japanese and German). By listening to his songs, you will realize that this great singer was capable of singing anything. There is something for everyone: rock'n'roll, rhythm and blues, soul, psychedelic rock, soft rock, pop rock, rockabilly, country, a rock opera album (Hamlet) from 1976 (This album was ahead of its time). A unique voice... His voice has continued to evolve over the years, becoming more and more powerful and precise. Johnny can be compared to the greatest singers in the world!! He brought together the rich, the less wealthy, and the poor. He brought together several generations. He gave exceptional concerts, with wild entrances like at the Parc des Princes in 1993, entering from the back of the stadium and parading through the crowd for three consecutive nights. (no one had done that before him). and he did it again in 2013 at Bercy, in 1998 he arrived by helicopter above the Stade de France, in 1984 at the Zenith he emerged from a giant hand (they had to break a wall to get the hand above the stage), in 2012 at the Stade de France he arrived in a giant flying ball resembling a mine, which landed on stage, and so on. Here are some songs: "Quelques cris, L'envie, Allumer le feu, Ce qui tue pas nous rend plus fort, Tu es elle, Que je t'aime, Je te promets, Quelque chose de Tennessee, Vivre pour le meilleur, Pense à moi, Marie, Laisse moi tomber, S'il nest pas trop tard, Ma religion dans son regard, Le temps passe, Si tu pars(2005), Mon plus beau Noël, Te savoir près de moi, Sang pour sang, Aimer vivre, Ça ne change pas un homme, True to you, Tien an men, Cadillac, Je ne suis pas un héros 'Bercy 1990', Requiem pour un fou 'Parc des Princes 1993', Derrière l'amour, Gabrielle, Ce que je sais, Moulin à vent, C'est du vent, Voyage au pays des vivants, À tout casser, Fumée, Comme si je devais mourir demain, J'ai oublié de vivre, Elle m'oublie, La musique que j'aime, Ma gueule, L'instinct, Diego 'Bercy 92', Animal, Un jour viendra, I am the blues, Ça ne finira jamais, De l'amour, La douceur de vivre, La paix, Debout, Pardonne-moi, Vent de panique, La loi du silence, Seul au beau milieu d'un lac, Sable mouvant, Ne m'oublie pas, Mon pays c'est l'amour, Made in rock'n'roll, Qui ose aimer, Autoportrait, Rock'n'roll attitude, Rester libre, J'ai pleuré sur ma guitare, L'amour peut prendre froid(duet with Céline Dion), Ne reviens pas, Rock'n'roll star (movie)duet with Fabrice Luchini(actor), J'la croise tous les matins, Quand le masque tombe, Et puis je sais, Pirate de l'air, Un rêve à faire, M'arrêter là, Essayez, Le coeur en deux, Entre chiens et loups, Un monde à part, A propos de mon père, Regarde moi t'aimer, Jamais(duet with Florent Pagny), Je serai là, Mirador, Les vautours, J'oublierai ton nom(duet with Carmel), Le chanteur abandonné, Toi tais-toi, Ne tuez pas la liberté, Montpellier, Il nous faudra parler d'amour un jour, J'ai épousé une ombre, Je n'oublierai jamais, Je suis nu je suis mort, Il me faudra plus de temps que m'en donnera la vie, Le bol d'or, Noël interdit, De la race humaine, Le pénitencier, La terre promise, La fille aux cheveux clairs, La fille de l'hiver, Sage pour vous, La tournée, J'aimerais pouvoir encore souffrir comme ça, La guitare fait mal, Parties de cartes, Pardon, Un cri, L'amour à mort, Prière pour un ami, Rouler vers l'ouest, Te manquer, Noir c'est noir, Love affair(duet with Kathy Mattea), Une lettre à l'enfant que j'étais, etcccc And many others.... 💯💣🗯💫🦾💪💥

Hi there, Hats off for your grasping of French on-the-go and its pronunciation! Pretty impressed 😉 ... and I believe you'd do better than a 6-year old when in France! Love your reactions regarding Lara. For the ones to come, I'd recommend Broken Vow, Love By Grace or/and her "Yentl Medley"...
The chorus sings a Requiem so a funeral song in Latin. Can you imagine 2 Americans singing this ? Completely impossible. This is far to French, they can do this. And he sings : to keep her I killed her, fooled from love.
One of my favorite of Lara, she is amazing, so camaleontic, she can sing anything. And here it's best scenario for her.... Passion, interpretation, belting.. She lives the song and the lyric...the way she put all herself in this song, the way she touch and hold Jhonny so tight (she said after the show that she did to pull off all tension for being performing with such a big star of France) And soo sexy and sensual and feminine.. Someone said that after those 3 days of concert in Paris , Jhonny 's wife didn't allow him to perform with Lara anymore, but I'm not sure if it's true.. Maybe Eric can help us with more gossip 😊 What still shock me after a long time I'm a fan of her, is the insane technique she owns . The way she switch voice register in a nano second ( at 2.40 for example and 5.23) so easily ... that's technically really difficult to do.. Her breath control and the way she moves and shapes her lips and mouth to create the right resonance she is looking for.... 😮 Just amazing.. A masterclass! Alive technique's book for singers... ❤
Laetitia definitely blocked their plans to performs duets again but there was at least one other duet happening in Brussels. Here it is, you can hear okish but almost not see anything from this poor quality fan footage th-cam.com/video/rLvOvV5WBdw/w-d-xo.html
Requiem is the mess at a funeral. So it means the funeral of a foul. The chorus also sings a Latin requiem. Pater Noster misericordia. One of the best know is the Requiem by Mozart.
Such an intimate and emotional performance! Johnny's wife didn't appreciate it. lol Lara's vocals were amazing as always. Too bad you didn't react to the version with English subs to get the whole story. It's very dramatic.
Geniales!...😂😂😂
👉 Johnny Halliday, *1943, singer, songwriter and actor. He died in 2017, all of France mourned. His funeral was televised live to tens of millions of people across Europe and Canada. 3 French Presidents were present at his funeral, including Emmanuel Macron, who delivered a 12-minute farewell address to thousands of people on the steps of the church. Johnny received a full state funeral. Paris stood still, they closed the Champs-Elyse for his funeral procession and about a million people lined up to bid him farewell. He had a 57-year career from 1960 to 2017, sold over 100 million albums, recorded over 1000 songs and wrote or co-wrote hundreds of songs. Not only was he a great musician, but he was also a very humble man out of the limelight. Johnny Halliday is a legend in France like Elvis in America. The story of the song based on a very famous old classic French film: Le Jour se Leve (1939) in which the main character barricades himself after killing his girlfriend and is now surrounded and besieged by the police.
I totally understand why you call Mrs Lara Fabian a Canadian artist,, but to be fair, Mrs Lara Fabian is Belgian with Canadian citizenship, but like I said, I understand, she spend most of her life in Canada, and Canadians love her.
salut de france . 1st thing you manage very well in French. The proof: you seem to have understood the song. Otherwise, J.Halliday was not at his best because usually he sends even more and I say that while I am not a fan of him specially. And it's a shame because in shape it would have given something more explosive

He couldn't resist and adopted her; the little dog is named "Cheyenne."
He also sang a song that evokes the brutal repression by Chinese authorities of the Tiananmen Square protests in June 1989; the song is titled "Tienanmen" from 1991. Here are some songs:

You are a true, unfeigned fan.
Enfin du live ...! C'était ça Johnny ..
"Johnny is not too bad either" 😅😂
Johnny was actually our Elvis, he is a legend in France.
His son David Hallyday had a bit of a career in the US back in the 90s, until he came back in france and did many song with his father.
it’s called, in English: Requiem for a Fool. (a requiem is a mass said for the dead - which is what the chorus is singing. :o)
Lara in She-Hulk mode 😂
Johnny Halliday is THE LEGEND ! Ask anyone in any french speaking country the name of a singer, you will get his !
Thanks D for this incredible Requiem (music for dead people). Johnny was our Bruce and Lara like Céline
Hi there,
Hats off for your grasping of French on-the-go and its pronunciation! Pretty impressed 😉 ... and I believe you'd do better than a 6-year old when in France!
Love your reactions regarding Lara. For the ones to come, I'd recommend Broken Vow, Love By Grace or/and her "Yentl Medley"...
Great choices! I would add Adagio, I guess I loved you, I am A-WA to this list, You are not from here, to this list
The chorus sings a Requiem so a funeral song in Latin. Can you imagine 2 Americans singing this ?
Completely impossible. This is far to French, they can do this.
And he sings : to keep her I killed her, fooled from love.
Saluti da milano Italia 🇮🇹 ❤
Sincerely, you just have to comment the original one. More intense.
Maybe Eric can help us with more gossip 😊
What still shock me after a long time I'm a fan of her, is the insane technique she owns . The way she switch voice register in a nano second ( at 2.40 for example and 5.23) so easily ... that's technically really difficult to do.. Her breath control and the way she moves and shapes her lips and mouth to create the right resonance she is looking for.... 😮
Just amazing..
Fun fact: They both actually were born in Belgium 😁
😊 thank you
merci
OMG😮😮😮❤❤❤❤
Epic opening for souls game :D I love this music. I was there when I was 7years
lol, merci 😅
Requiem is the mess at a funeral. So it means the funeral of a foul.
The chorus also sings a Latin requiem. Pater Noster misericordia.
One of the best know is the Requiem by Mozart.
" And now you two go get a room ! " ... You killed me 🤣.
Great reaction, as usual 👍.
Greetings from the baguette land 😉.
I love Baguettes!
Johnny is the french Elvis !!
only man like johhny hallyday can stay sing under the sea
Stade de France (80,000 in attendance) and it was raining.
It's a bit like a Bonnie and Clyde story (there are subtitles). Beautiful storytelling.
Great reaction & keep up the great work !
Such an intimate and emotional performance! Johnny's wife didn't appreciate it. lol Lara's vocals were amazing as always. Too bad you didn't react to the version with English subs to get the whole story. It's very dramatic.
Lara is belgian and Johnny is of belgian origin 😎
@@eric1966tomson his father was belgian but his mother was French.
@ValerieLoisel we all know that 🤔 Does it avoid his belgian origins ? 🤔
She's getting a bit frisky with her hands😂
Saludos desde ARGENTINA crak , podrias resccionar a una cumbia ARGENZTINA llamada M.A remix ...gracias te sigo siempre

🇨🇦 All Canadian female artists are BadAss ! LOL
I totally understand why you call Mrs Lara Fabian a Canadian artist,, but to be fair, Mrs Lara Fabian is Belgian with Canadian citizenship, but like I said, I understand, she spend most of her life in Canada, and Canadians love her.
Ragnarok Yarmak🙏
salut de france . 1st thing you manage very well in French. The proof: you seem to have understood the song. Otherwise, J.Halliday was not at his best because usually he sends even more and I say that while I am not a fan of him specially. And it's a shame because in shape it would have given something more explosive
Recomend you to watch "so i went to Ukraine during war" by Geography now.
