I love these kind of instructors! I’m not even scared about the driving part (Well, except parallel parking) I’m mostly scared of the instructors being mean, or too on edge. I can’t handle that, and it makes me feel very nervous and anxious...
@@travisstroman-spaniel6091 I feel you. My dad although I love him to death and would probably kill for him, is a major hard ass on every spectrum when it came to him “teaching” me to drive. Had to learn myself by sneaking out late at night with keys.
That is also the learning part. You can hear what will they say to you. Better to be terrified than be sorry. Take it on this way- hard on a training, easy on an exam.

TIPS TO PASS IF YOU GO TO THIS ONE (they will take points off if you don’t do these) • when going to the parallel park make sure you PUT YOUR SIGNAL LIGHT • when coming out of the parallel park PUT YOUR SIGNAL LIGHT TO LEAVE • on the yield sign make sure you stop to look if cars are there • if you’re Turning right on a red light you are able to go ONLY on a RED LIGHT • if the light is yellow just slow down and stop. You do not want to increase your chances on running a red light • make sure you look at your mirrors when changing lanes and move your head too not just your eyes!!

@@pinkysands yes I was really confused by the process to be honest. So I had to get copious amounts of paperwork together, including all my visa stuff, they then checked everything and made me do the theory test right there and then, I wasn't expecting that, I was expecting to have to book it later like you would in the UK. If you're successful on the theory test they book you for a driving test around 2 weeks later if you live in Waco, TX. I managed to pass on my first go, but my wife failed her first test because she did a rolling start at a stop sign. Let me know if you have more questions.
@Benjamin Kohlmann Like America, it is two-fold: the theory (knowledge test) and the practical (the road) test. The main diff for me was the seriousness with which UK tests are administered. The theory is mostly rote-learning: know road signs, highway codes etc and go there and take the multiple question. After you pass that, you can proceed to the practical, which around 45 mins driving with an examiner. It typically involves diff kinds of roads, speed requirements etc. There is set of criteria that you must satisfy in order to pass. There are actions (e.g. failure to check mirrors or overspeed) that are deemed "dangerous". Committing this is an automatic fail. Another diff is the cost: typically before taking a test, a learner would have taken at least 30 lessons. A lesson depending on where you live can be 25GBP (usually an hour). The test day itself can cost over 100GBP. All together it adds up so failing the test can get verrrry stressful. I thought the examiners in the US seemed rather friendly and eager for you to pass. In the UK, it is not rare to fail your test a number of occasions - what one must do to pass can get really elusive. I passed on my 6th or 7th and I have a PhD.
@Benjamin Kohlmann Haha, well actually, the UK test is ridiculously difficult, it about 20-25 minutes long, and a lot more stringent! It shows though, Texas is full of crazy driver! Lol
Make sure to look left, right, and in the rear view mirror every single time you stop or turn. If not it's an automatic fail. They won't tell you this they'll just watch your eyes the whole time

They made you drive through a different part of the neighborhood but its very simple, just stop behind the line and things like that. Thanks again!

I took my drivers test today. In a car that I have a hard time driving in and Thanks to God I passed. She took a few points off because I was a too far from the curve when parallel parking, got in the wrong lane when turning, and did not look both ways. You guys got this make sure you are comfortable and drive for yourself and others.

This is my second video viewing a Texas driving test in two different cities and both of these videos confirm to me once again that yesterday morning at the DPS in Waco, Texas I was robbed of receiving my driving license. According to the instructor that I had who I won't reveal her name said to me that "I did everything well except the left turn that I did when approaching the DPS office when returning from the road test, (according to her) I did it in the wrong lane. And this guy on this video had multiple points taken away from him and he didn't stop completely a few times at stop signs mind you and he still passed the exam and received his driver's license. WTF? Now, I have to take it again.
I teach Drivers Ed. In Texas. If you go in the wrong lane and don't stop completely you fail. You can also receive a ticket for going on the wrong lane and not stopping completely. But it just all adds up to who gives you the test.
@@DrivingCarey246 My argument is that these two men on these different videos had many other faults than I did and they still passed the exam, given the fact that the instructor I had said to me that "I did everything correct except." Its like saying to a student "you received a 99% on your exam but you failed." But, your probably right, it depends who is the instructor. Thanks for your comment.

@@hectorpayano2870 Some things will automatically fail you if you do them once. Then there are some things that they just take off points for. My guess is that you did something that automatically failed you that they consider a serious mistake.

I failed on my first attempt. I'm still learning English, just because I'm not fluent I was scared, when I drove I was freaking out. I wanted to make everything perfect, no mistakes, don't make that same mistake. Just do your best and always drive defensively. I’m 22 been driving since I was 14 and been driving on a permit but I got stopped and I procrastinated and never took the test. When I took the test the instructor told me I was turning wrong. When at a light or stop sign I would turn into my lane(right side turn onto right lane and same thing for the left) but apparently she said I did that wrong
he drove good, I noticed some of the mistakes when I was watching the video and pointed out every mistake in my head, it wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to pass.
I remember mine wasn't as long, I literally pulled out the DPS made a left on a light then another left drove through a neighborhood and that was literally next to the DPS went back and parallel parked I even failed but the lady still passed me

I've also heard it could be to do with being a better/stronger way to hang them in a hurricane zone, but other hurricane areas don't do this- (although parts of Miami do it this way, other places in Florida don't, so that doesn't seem to be true). Anyway, perhaps it's just as you say- purely for aesthetic reasons.
When I moved to Texas in 2000, Two lane rural roads were as follows: Illinois: 55 Missouri: 60 Oklahoma: 65. Texas: 70/night: 65 now it's Illinois: 55 Missouri: 60-65. Oklahoma: 65-70. Texas: 70-75.
I failed today for making a left turn (from a neighborhood)into a busy street (3 lanes going each way) and stopping in the middle( center lane) before I merged completely. Make sure you all go straight across and don't stop in the middle when making a left turn onto a busy street
When you did the parallel parking when you put it in park did you get out to check? Or you just put it in park and waited till she said it was safe to turn left ?
I've got my test in about a month- I'm mostly nervous about the parallel parking even though I've practiced it so much. I'll make sure to continue practicing up until I take my test but it's still nerve-racking haha

Update: I passed!!! Super easy, my instructor was a chill woman and I was nervous but it wasn't difficult at all.
BTW it was at the Rosenberg DPS megacenter.

I’m 22 been driving since I was 14 and been driving on a permit but I got stopped and I procrastinated and never took the test. When I took the test the instructor told me I was turning wrong. When at a light or stop sign I would turn into my lane(right side turn onto right lane and same thing for the left) but apparently she said I did that wrong

he drove good, I noticed some of the mistakes when I was watching the video and pointed out every mistake in my head, it wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to pass.

I remember mine wasn't as long, I literally pulled out the DPS made a left on a light then another left drove through a neighborhood and that was literally next to the DPS went back and parallel parked I even failed but the lady still passed me

I would love to go to Texas. You guys have so much space. Can any Texans tell me why your traffic lights are hung horizontally (as opposed to the more usual vertical)? I've often wondered.

I've also heard it could be to do with being a better/stronger way to hang them in a hurricane zone, but other hurricane areas don't do this- (although parts of Miami do it this way, other places in Florida don't, so that doesn't seem to be true). Anyway, perhaps it's just as you say- purely for aesthetic reasons.

Taking mine October 15 in Austin at 10:15 am I'm super nervous!!
I failed today for making a left turn (from a neighborhood)into a busy street (3 lanes going each way) and stopping in the middle( center lane) before I merged completely. Make sure you all go straight across and don't stop in the middle when making a left turn onto a busy street
#update I signed up with a 3rd party authorized dps company to take my road test. Passed with no issues! So great!

I thought it’s NOT an automatic fail if you hit the curb, only if you go over the curb?
When you did the parallel parking when you put it in park did you get out to check? Or you just put it in park and waited till she said it was safe to turn left ?
Put the car into park once you are into your space, use parking brake when parking. This is easy to forget, but is very important on the exam.

I've got my test in about a month- I'm mostly nervous about the parallel parking even though I've practiced it so much. I'll make sure to continue practicing up until I take my test but it's still nerve-racking haha
