    That gold Spider Man #1 cover is worth $100-$200 on average, so that is a good one if you still have. My entire collection all got put into the shed at my parent's house and destroyed by water... Had about ten of that Spider Man # 1 all bagged and boarded, along with other stuff, what would be tens of thousands of dollars now, they were ready for future me... (the future is now)

    That issue of Silver Surfer 50 and the Infinity Gauntlet books were the first comics I bought and read. Now I have over 50,000 comics. Glad I got into them when I did because most of my friends that didn't ended up criminals and addicts. I never had money for drugs or partying because that would have cut into my comic book collecting.

    My go to comic shop while growing-up in the 80's was Comic Collector Shop on San Fernando St in San Jose CA. It was my favorite place in the world. It had been there since the 60's and had all the vintage comics I loved. It was owned by a guy named Bob Sidebottom, who was ALWAYS there, behind the counter reading the newspaper. As a ten year old, I used to wonder what an old guy saw in comic books. I later learned the comics he was into were not the comics I was into. In about 1990, Bob had a stroke. His wife took-over running the shop, and shortly after, it was closed down. I still have by comic book collection. It's my flash-back to ten year old me.

    I wish that I had footage of my friends and I at this age doing day-to-day things like this: going to the local comic store, arcade, the mall, the pizza place. They're all gone now. The mall is there but it is now been changed to a strip mall. At least Puente Hills Mall, the mall in "Back To The Future" still exists. Used to hang out there and saw the movie in a (now gone) theater less than a mile from the first mall parking lot time-travel scene.

    For the commenters and anybody else who wanted to know TBS comics started in 1985 in a town close to Fort Walton Beach called Niceville. It was started by a mom and son and it’s still going on. TBS stands for trade , buy and sell, Not as epic as some people were hoping, but I just wanted to answer those questions for people.

  • @Aeva
    @Aeva ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Small world, this is my hometown. Was awesome growing up here before Destin exploded, foreign investment firms bought up most of the properties and living there became unaffordable. There was a walmart next to that strip mall that eventually became a school. TBS comics one of the only local businesses still around. I believe another comic book/gaming store still in business on racetrack across from a gas station.

    So cool lads!!!
    I was wondering, can you tell stories of when you got into trouble?! Surely you must have! We all have had our run ins with the cops and parents (or in my case both 😂) at the age 12-18 😂
    We were just talking about the time I was arrested for allegedly dealing drugs... I didn't deal drugs. I dealt in phone-sex-tapes but the cops never found that one out :D Otherwise I'd probably still ended up in juve for breaking copyright laws and/or phone hacking laws :D
    But yeah it was a close call, scared me straight… for a bit 😂
    I basically had my own little holding cell as a teen 😂 one cop joked: “we should charge your mum rent!” I joked back: “please don’t, she’ll take it out of my allowance and I still haven’t paid off the school window that I broke. And the burned curtains in the garage when I almost set myself on fire by accident and in the process burned the curtains and part of the wooden roof…” He then said: “I’m so glad you’re no my kid!”😂
