    It is shocking to me that San Bernardino didn’t make this list.

      Big county with a lot going on within it. During the reporting period of this video they didn’t make the cut though. As a California native I was surprised myself

      It's also shocking to see that Oxnard didn't make that list. Only reason I can think that Oxnard was kept off is due to the presence of "not one but" TWO Naval bases there.

    Let's see, cities with the highest per-capita crime rates in the United States:
    1. St. Louis, Missouri
    2. Detroit, Michigan
    3. Baltimore, Maryland
    4. Memphis, Tennessee
    5. Little Rock, Arkansas
    6. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
    7. Cleveland, Ohio
    8. Albuquerque, New Mexico
    9. Kansas City, Missouri
    10. Stockton, California
    What is the point of this "story?" just another swipe at the most populous state with the highest (bar far) GDP for some reason?

    • @ShawnShawny-j6r

      So what’s ur point ? California is big and has a bunch of “these cities”
      If u wanna play that bs go search most dangerous cities in the world, STL isn’t even top 15 and the rest is literally in South America so maybe stop trying to make USA this “violent” place which yes it’s violent but South America is way worse by miles

    I am not a California resident but I am a somewhat frequent visitor because I have family in around Los Angeles in the northern part of San Diego
    I’ve been in infrequent visitors since 1975 and I’ve seen the state teenager standpoint and young adults rise in appeal of start going down an appeal in the 90s and early 2000s
    I’m a little surprised about the San Diego Oceanside area having some places a violent crime but if I think it through it’s the closest place to the Mexican border plus you have a marine base so you have a lot of transient people going through it’s probably got the nicest weather so people who are of some modest means or probably more comfortable sleeping out the doors or vehicles that’s a recipe for a criminal element to be able to hide and feel comfortable carry out their crimes
    Any place in the central valley from Stockton on down I could expect to have problems because it’s a very stressed out area it might be agricultural but it’s commercial agriculture and in many ways it’s not much different than an industrial zone where you had a lot of stressed out underpaid workers also very transient and it’s been neglected economically it might feed the nation but the nation doesn’t seem to feed the communities there From Stockton all the way down Fresno
    What really does surprise me a Santa Maria because it’s so near San Luis Obispo which is a very high quality community I wonder why Santa Maria has a high crime rate
    could that be an overflow for San Luis Obispo that’s more modest ? and that also be a place where there’s a lot of transient people?

      Hey ! I'm born&raised in SM , yes it's somewhat near SLO however it's still about 40 minutes drive away. SM is nothing like SLO, despite its proximity. The economy is mainly agricultural based and it attracts a lot of migrant & undocumented workers. I know that the agricultural jobs dont pay nearly enough to support a good lifestyle in CA. There is not really a downtown to attract tourists. I remember my mom used to say that SM had the highest rate of teen pregnancies once upon a time. There's a good amount of gang activity (especially in the more northwest part of town , west of broadway). Ppl just don't have enough money, theres a lack of good paying jobs, and SM is further away from other cities in CA (its pretty much an island) and lacks good transportation so ppl resort to crime. That being said, I was a white girl who used to walk down main st to get home at midnight from the closing shift at the theater in the mall 2014-2016. I did encounter some shifty characters but with a good head on your shoulders and awareness of your surroundings you'll be fine. Most of the crime I heard about was gang related. I'd still move back to SM. LOVE the surrounding area, and SM is a pretty good commuter town lol

    • @michaelchen8643
      @michaelchen8643 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked at the geography on the map between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara ( in Wikipedia Santa Maria seems to be loved with Santa Barbara as a micropolitan area where it’s at 65 miles from Santa Barbara, and only 35 miles from San Luis Obispo) I see what you mean it is that Santa Maria is a significant difference from other cities surrounded by very productive agricultural fields, but it seems like vrandenburg base is a big employer this is a military base and most of the other agricultural jobs are small in number for employers probably the area outside of Santa Maria.
      I personally have never really heard of Santa Maria. It was not on my radar. I know San Luis Obispo that seems to be a city location that’s promoted as we go to place in California for people like me lol not really familiar with California.
      To some degree yeah I am I have a lot of family in the Los Angeles and San Diego area
      So I will be visiting California more often than I would normally choose ( I’ve been associated with California since about 1975 visiting it regularly, but in frequently) I have seen almost like a Polaroid snap. Shot changes over a lifetime.
      I’m also seeing a lot of videos about the homeless population that is people sleeping in the roof specifically coming to parts of California and degrading the quality of life for people who live in cities like Santa Monica and San Francisco.
      It blows my mind when I see this loss of quality of life

    • @mi-da2920
      @mi-da2920 ปีที่แล้ว

    No doubt those are the top most dangerous cities in California by rates per 100,000. However, how close are the next 10, or 20, or 30, or 100, not using rates per 100,000, but in absolute crime numbers without regard to population size. Rates per 100,000 often suppresses the rates of crime for larger populations compared to smaller populations even when the absolute number of crimes is the same or close. And I would bet there isn't a thimble's worth of real difference between places like L.A.(or L.A. region) and San Francisco (or the Bay Area region) and Sacramento(or region) compared to these 10 places except they are smaller populations.
    As a quick exercise I compared SF to Stockton, 14 years of data shows SF had 803 murders and Stockton had 621, but since SF is 2.5 times larger in population than Stockton, SF has a significantly lower rate per 100,000, even though SF had more murders.
