I'm so grateful for the band having me involved for this show. It was an honour, and a very special experience. I really look forward to seeing the band together with Jay soon!
You absolutely CRUSHED this. All the work you put into this performance is a testament not just to your skill as a drummer but your respect for the band and all their fans. Seriously did such an amazing job!

I loved it but I need to say it... The part on the main riff changed the china with the stack and I prefer the original version...

@@ksaavedra_Immortalbelovedmusic Jay lives in the U.S. now and they filmed this in the UK while there were a bunch of covid restrictions. They asked Mike to fill in for Jay.

Acle is just a mixing god
Good on Dan for changing the melodies to match his vocal capacity. Even Ashe himself struggled to perform this track live.
Are you referring to things like Dan not singing every line in the beginning? I like it this way because there's just no time for a human to sing all of those within the melody without help.
@@darkphoenix2 he sings a lot of the lines in a much lower register, eg. @1:15, and it was much more suited to his range than ashes super high voice
@@SlackWi yeah I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles with some of those lines, they're very difficult to nail! This works better for Dan's voice AND as a vocal performance where consistency is key.
@@darkphoenix2 What Chris Wills said, he changes the chorus ending hook to be a lower melody "Can we save us from ourselves". And it sounds great! Bear in mind Dan easily does the beginning part of the chorus with the original "You're the plague within my dreams", so the notes are in his range - it just makes a huge difference stamina wise if you're trying to sing at the top of your range constantly. Hence my comment is about *capacity* not *ability* :)
@@SlackWi but anyone who doubts Dan's upper vocal register clearly hasn't watched him perform Phoenix live in the studio. But this isn't as soft as Phoenix, so he has to sing it lower to keep his vocals healthy and sustainable.

@@KingThor128 no he's not, he was just the one that recorded the first full release. They had Julien and Abi first. He is, however, the best of all the vocalists.

I saw TesseracT the first time when they had Elliot from Good Tiger. Some guy in the crowd that I was talking to hadn't heard of them but he described Amos as a guy who looks like he could seduce any man or woman in the venue, and he KNOWS it.

Agree. Feels a bit rushed though. Jay seems to have a way of making the grooves feel a bit more fluid. Might also be the whole band pushing the pace a bit though.

They don’t just fit Dan’s range better. They fit Ash’s range better too. Ash could NEVER sing this live. His performance on the album was 95% studio magic because he cannot hit those notes live without autotune, period.

I thought Acle was channeling his inner Jim Matheos quite nicely there. Which, in my estimation, is the greatest praise you could ever receive.

At the "wake me up" parts I still felt him channel Ashe, I love a hella lot of what Dan does, and of course can't forget the tesseract crew, I can't wait until Portals in August it'll make a great birthday present 🥰

All they’re live sessions are amazing! I usually prefer them to the studio versions because something about the acoustics and slight changes hits different!
Tesseract is truly mesmerizing, and meditative. Like when I listen to A Perfect Circle or something, Tesseract can bring such joy. !~
Definitely dig Dan's take on this. Love hearing his take on all the AS songs. Having two incredible singers sing some of my favourite tracks of all time = doubled blessed.

This drum performance is just insane. Actually the voice performance i just as insane. but guy. the drum. how you cannot be amazed by the dexterity and gold in his hands.

this song in particular is a cool examination of that. I like how at 1:39, the vibe changes, but there's still that constant underlying rhythmic pulse from the verses

Got into Tesseract when Altered State came out. It is still in my top 3 albums of all time (for the bands during my lifetime that I listen to, before people start mentioning Beatles et al.). I was really not happy when Dan took back over (wasn't fond of the vocals on their first album). However, I realize now that I was so unbelievably wrong to doubt Dan. Another fantastic reminder that he is the right man for the job!
Why Dan left the band? Never knew wich was the reason.
@@pablomontesinos6852 not 100% sure. I think it was partially a financial reason and partially creative reasons (wanted to train his voice more and scream less), but never heard a clear reason.

I just started listening to this band. Hats off to this drummer. I just read that he was filling in and only had a few weeks to prepare for this? I didn't think any drummer could fill in for these guys but this guy killed it!
Maybe it's just me, but 1:20 - 1:42 takes on a bit of a William Shatner spoken word album feel.

I love Jay but it's cool with a new take from Mike. Loved the stream they did together, where they compared and contrasted playing styles.
