People do blame them that is why they get put in prison but if you advertise yourself it makes you an easier target. Criminals look for victims who are easy targets.
I swear short skirts year round, because I like wearing short skirts. I'm not completely skimpily dressed, though. I wear some kind of jacket year round (and leave it on indoors, no matter how hot it gets). I carry a small container of Febreeze in my purse and a small container of Static Guard in my jacket just in case I'm in danger. That said, I do enjoy compliments. Please do tell me you like my legs, after all if I'm freezing my legs in January in a snowstorm, I want you to notice them. The difference between complimenting them and behaving inappropriately (or worse) is like the difference between drinking a hot cup of coffee and drinking a hot cup of molten lead.
Vulnerability depends not only on clothes but situation as well. A woman wearing sensual clothes in a safe environment with safe people is at a much lower risk than a covered woman walking alone at night 🤷🏻♀️ BUT a woman tipsy, alone, with sensual clothes.... 😬😬😬
The woman in red is absolutely insufferable. Didn’t let anyone talk without interrupting and just blatantly disregarded everything that was said, I.E. “I’m not blaming them”
If you leave your house and car doors unlocked and you get burgled or car gets stolen insurance won't even pay you out and police will say to your face "you should've locked your doors". No one considers that to be "victim blaming" but women don't think normal rules apply to them and want to be put on a pedalststal.
People do realise that since prostitutes existed men felt like they had the right to do whatever they wanted to them because they dressed a certain way. So that is how their brain justified it. If a woman is dressed more modestly it is much less likely to happen because the men feel respect for them as they dress modestly. And in Muslim countries they don’t allow women to leave the house without a man for this reason because a man isn’t going to do that in front of another man who would protect her. I am not taking any blame away from the criminal but I am just stating ways to prevent it
Agreed. It's not as if dressing in revealing clothes has zero impact on harassment. The woman in red was far too dogmatic in her take, and of course if she had a teen daughter you can bet she wouldn't be so blasé about what she wears out to pubs because of statistics.
