    Hey! Nice project.
    The ECHO cylinders are (and always were) built in-house, in Kioritz/Yamabiko Morioka plant.

    Tinman, I've watched The Ironhorse go thru this process and now I get the privilege of watching and learning how you do this. For me and probably a lot of others we're getting a well rounded education. I watch east and west coast guys fell trees because they all have something I fell I need to learn. We are better because you share yourself with us, and we also get to learn about chainsaws too. I hope all the new subs find a home here like I have where they can learn things too. Be safe as this too shall pass, one day at a time.

    Love your channel. I'm a disabled machinist/diesel mechanic, selling firewood to help pay the bills, and learning to heat the saws up a little, to get by with a lighter saw, with good power still. Would love to see an "ultimate old man saw build"
    I just wanted to point out, the degree of rotation, to piston travel isn't linear. It will move more per degree, that at the ends of the travel. Probably doesn't matter for what your doing, but just in case you were banging your head on stuff cause your math didn't add up, and it helped you, figured I'd mention it. Keep up the good work.

    Super excited for this series! Bought three defective 026 saws for tinkering. Did one with cheap Chinese ms260 piston/jug, bigger carb, base gasket delete, muffler mod and a bit of timing. Took the dremel to the old blown cylinder, but it didn't build confidence to clean up the new one. Once I have a better understanding of timing I'll go back and revise it. Very enjoyable video, thank you for taking the time to share.

    Great video and love your style. Good tip on tightening the sprocket when re-installed. I just finished putting my 350 together for the 3rd time after porting it a couple of years ago. It scored the piston/cylinder due to air leak on the plastic intake clamp. I tried to cheap out and used a hose worm/screw clamp and it leaked again. Revved her and let off and the sprocket and bearing spun off and into the pool. (yeah my work bench is an old desk out on the pool lanai here in Fl.) I was fishing in the pool with an 18" bar magnet that I use to hand screwdrivers on, LOL Can't wait to finish the rest of the series. I've got another 350, 262, 136, 570, and a 359 I just got from a friend that I want to do work on. Interested to see how you do porting without a 90* grinder. The 350 and 359 have the removeable transfer covers, so easy enough. Again thanks for the video's.

    Hey Tinman LOVE your videos !!!! We are both plagued by this chainsaw disease. You are clearly a smart dude. Just wanted to remind you ( and i know you dont need to be reminded) that when you port a two stroke, you give up some low end grunt for top end power. It IS a trade off. I am no expert but i have ported a butt load of two strokes and that is what i have found out first hand. So if you have a saw that behaves good at low rpm's and has nice torque off idle, then you might re-think advancing your port timing. Although nothing sounds better then buzzin through a log at 13k. Just sayin bro.

It's going to take a while to get here but I'll take a bunch of pictures and send them to you so you can asses the quality for your self. I got a echo for free from one of my relatives and it had no compression so I tore it down and the piston is chipped up and the rings are busted and the only damage to the cylinder is around the exhaust Port it is missing chunks of the smooth shiny metal I was wondering if I could just hone it and then but new piston and rings or would it be low on compression cause of the cylinder?

    • @scootscoot1920
      @scootscoot1920 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d just replace piston, rings and new top end, as long as the bottom end bearings are fine.

    • @WildAcresFarms
      @WildAcresFarms 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cylinder’s plating chipped, which caused the damage to ring and piston, rather than the other way around. You MIGHT be able to sand it and run it, and I’d try it if you had a spare used piston lying around out of a parts saw.
      If you have to buy a new piston and rings? Go the correct repair path and buy a full topend kit with cylinder rather than throwing good money after bad.
