Great video. Are the long bolts supposed to clamp it shut to a specific distance? I opened my Bosch alternator to clean it then it's kind of loose on the mount. I'm afraid I may have clamped it a little too far. I had replaced the bearings on a previous ocasion. I never removed that plate that gets soldered on top. It was very interesting seeing that in this video.
00:30 It's a mistake to hammer the bearing into the housing by striking the the inner bearing race. This will damage the bearing and reduce its life. A bearing should be pressed into a housing using a pipe or socket on the outer bearing race.
Thank you for noticing. Our intention was that for ordinary DIY people with no specialized equipment can get done. Even if you don't have a press you can still achieve acceptable results.
