Rodney has done more with guitar than most ever will ... not even close! Played with Dizzy, Lena Horne, James Brown, Herbie, Benson, you name it... pop, jazz, R&B, C&W... and he teaches at Juillard! They don't make many people this talented and with this much depth. LIsten in!
There's nothing like the hollow-body guitars for jazz and of course the tasty licks from RJ. I saw him about 15 yrs in a trio with Kenny Burrell and Bobby Broom at the Blue Note in NYC,,he still cooks. Yeaaa baby!!!!
wow, superb playing, he has a really nice sound, the song is groovy. i just 'discovered' him, i heard him on the Maceo Parker 'Mo Roots' cd, he has great solos on that one.
stevie ray except for the fact that Rodney actually knows what he's doing and plays more than the simple blues scale. In addition he still has the same deep groove.
Rodney Jones has been one of my favorite of the "unsung heroes" of the jazz guitar ever since I saw him years ago with Dizzy Gillespie. Great clip from start to finish. Looks like Lonnie Plaxico on the bass but who is the organist?
great clip, great guitarist, hell of a player, thanks for sharing! regarding the organplayer: on first sight i thought it might be john medeski, but second looks quickly made me change my mind. in short, i have no idea and surely would like to know also. if anybody know who this is, please shed some light on the issue. might go and check out some cd's of his, if i can only find out WHO to check out, y'know... ;-)

Looking for music by Rodney....and I have found a treasure. Hot Jazz @ the Hot spot..Uptown on the "Wes" side.
Love the single line solo plus the chord solo and all the work you had to do mastering the Guitar.. Peace
Rodney is a jazz guitarist virtuoso. Very understated and somewhat unsung; true jazz musicians recognize his brilliance.
Awesome!!! Thanks for posting:)
