    Instead of pressing the air out of the bag to coat the meat I try to inflate the bag slightly, makes it easier to get an even coating on each piece. I would take the flat side of a 2x4 and smack the top of that bail it should spread a tad so ya can get the lid on.

    Going to try this over the weekend. One question I had is that other recipes add in the vegetables at different points in the cooking. In this video all of the veggies get added in right after the meat has been browned. Is there any chance that any particular vegetable gets overcooked?

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn’t really notice but not a bad idea to put the potatoes & carrots in a little ahead of the rest.

    All you needed was a good ol’ hot Dutch Oven biscuit with a spoon of butter on it! Yum..

    "Shake-n-bake" bag for the meat? Somehow I don't think cowboys on an open range do that nor use beef stock. We season and brown the meat in the dutch oven and then add water and the other ingredients. You might enjoy reading, "The Chuck Wagon Cookbook" by B. Byron Price. I bought a similar cookbook years ago. Been cooking over an open fire for 40+ years.

      Fair enough, Roy. Thanks for the recommendation. We’ll check into the cookbook. Appreciate the suggestion.

      We received it as a gift from Stacie’s aunt. But they sell them on Amazon. We have them listed in the Camp Cooking section of our Amazon storefront if you are interested... Check out this page for RV Texas Y'all www.amazon.com/shop/rvtexasyall

    Are those cowhide suede gloves?

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Franklin. They are leather and they work great for cooking over the fire with cast iron. We have a link in the video description if you want more info about them.

    Looks good, but with high blood pressure, way to much salt.

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We usually don’t cook with much salt. Our homemade stock has no salt in it. You can definitely cut back on the amount of salt you use in the recipe.
