This is the automated reply you get when you contact the licensing department:
“Thank you for contacting the Boston Police Licensing Unit. Due to high demand we will not be responding to emails regarding LTC restriction changes. All LTC's are being changed automatically by the unit. Once we receive the new "unrestricted card" you will be contacted via phone, using the contact number on file. If you have questions regarding carrying your firearm before receiving your new card, we ask that you contact your attorney for legal advice. Thank you.”

I applied for my out of state LTC, having just moved to NH and still having valid MA LTC. Took 6 months to get an appointment, got approved on the spot. 6 months later I still haven't received it in the mail so I called the lady. "Oh yeah it's right here on my desk, I will get it out this week" LOL No joke, I will have to re-apply as soon as I get it in the mail. This video is literally what I went through. Danvers, MA doesn’t even allow appointments to be scheduled at a residents request! They require you to monitor their website calendar daily to identify the day/time of the month they’ll allow ppl to come in between 9-4pm (first avail date posted after 8/22 was 10/26 then 11/3 with no future dates as of this post). BUT, if one takes off work to try to get an appointment, one would need to be the first limited few on the signup sheet to reserve a time on said licensing day (posted 15min before 9am that licensing day).
Then, you get a call from them to come in for your appointment. Could potentially be a different time than you reserved and if your 15 mins late, better luck next month to repeat this process.
Btw - 3 forms of ID w/ 1 indicating lawful presence in that town.also, all lawful purposes as your reason for the lic = an immediate disqualified.
“Shall not be infringed..”? Not in Danvers…

I mean its not really the easy way out though. Most states do not charge nearly as much for stuff as Massachusetts does. There really isnt that many perks here like you think. All these state taxes and most people still cant afford rent, food, healthcare, yet alone a car with car insurance. Still out here trying to pay people minimum wage even with 15-16 years of proven work history. Its just disgusting. Its sick and selfish greedy Mass at its finest. They over spent money now they charge the people becuase they spent money. Explain how that works… Explain how $43k should be in the 12% tax bracket with a standard deduction of $13k but your charged $15-16k that doesnt make any sense whatsoever. I should be getting money back every year. Not being charged more and more and more. How is this even possible? State just dont even make sense… I know how its called stealing from state residents. The state realized they took too much from me and sent me multiple checks back in the last few years. These accountants are really something!!!! I could joke and say the easiest way to buy a gun in Massachusetts is to drive to New Hampshire..However actual practice is not really infringing if you are a law abiding citizen. Yes I shouldn't have to wait 6 months and sit for about an hour being interviewed by my Chief of Police, however he was more than reasonable and it went very smoothly. The first thing I handed him when I sat down was the receipt for my safe and told him I took safe storage storage of firearms seriously. He looked me in the eye and said "If everyone was as responsible as you I'd have a lot less work to do". That was 15 years ago and licenses are now shall issue and usually automatically upgraded to unrestricted if you didn't apply for an unrestricted. Is requiring a license an infringement? Yes, but Massachusetts has the lowest per capita rate of unintentional firearm injuries so maybe the compromise is worth the infringement? As far as competency testing, why the issue with a class and live fire, we have to take a road test for a drivers license and guns are much less forgiving if you make a mistake.

    • @tedjerdee1028
      @tedjerdee1028 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I'm kinda in the same boat. A licensing process is beneficial as long as it's on a shall issue basis. I agree with having some barrier of entry for owning firearms but if the govt wants to put that in place, at least cover the classes and application fee. Why should I have to pay over $200 for YOU to approve or deny me a right that's free in most parts of the country? To me, a 4 hour class and a couple month waiting period to get a license is sufficient. Everything else is just the govt playing mommy and daddy. Why is a 16" 5.56 bullpup perfectly okay but a PSAK is some weapon of war? Most of these laws just don't make sense when you look at it from an educated gun owners perspective but people with 0 experience with firearms are the ones making the rules

I was like great another $100.00 YAYYYY. Then I got the live fire and same thing happened back and forth to the Police Station to see the person in charge. Then it was this whole thing where like you had to wait and come back to pick it up idk weird to me. They probably should ensure live fire though because that means no excuses you shoot the gun in front of a trained professional and instructor and if you do not like guns you can leave. Best way to get trained knowledge and certified experience on firearms if you have never been taught or brought up on guns growing up.

Hmmm. Nothing here about Boston losing the application. That's another tried & true delaying tactic.
I lived in Orleans in the '60s and '70s. Before the GCA we could get mail-order guns from Sears. But the retail places were few and far between even then. There was Goose Hummock on the town cove, and I remember one near the rotary in Hyannis. When the big malls appeared in Hyannis, there was a Woolworth which had some surplus SMLEs and such, and Italian copies of Colt percussion revolvers. There was an unfinished furniture place on Rt 28 which also had a few surplus items. I still have a Martini-Henry, a Lee-Metford, and a couple of Arisakas I bought there. In maybe the '80s there was a bait & tackle shop near the Orleans town center, and he had a few guns. All in all, not much for retail shopping. There might have been more in the Falmouth-Sagamore region, but I didn't get that far west very often. This must all have been long before there was a Cape Cod Gunworks. I don't think even the Eastham police had anyone quite like that secretary.

You should try this in N.Y. I'd explain it all but it's faster for you to go look it up. We have to write a letter to the federal judge explaining why you should be privileged enough to just get a pistol permit, forget the carry license, that's after you get the approval letter for the judge providing you didn't say something stupid and blow your chance. That takes 6 to 9 mos, now your ready to apply for your carry license. Another 4 to 6 mos of more in depth background checks just in case you slapped your high school girlfriend back in 1984. But it's up to the judge on weather or not you get a restricted license or unrestricted, thank God I've had mine since 1988 cause it's exhausting.

Yeah, I'm in New Hampshire. I carry all the time without a "license". I had my LTC in Mass. Only lasts 1 year. For only upto 10 rounds. 🤣. Was unrestricted though. Now that I'm a State National, I see they are only for US citizens under parens patraie with no rights under 14th amendment. So I let it expire. I know what you may be thinking. But when you do the deep dives like I have and do, you have to choose to remain as a US (DC corp) citizen or should you repudiate it? That and voting as one. That's another hurdle. I should get my elector status instead. But anyway, complicated here. So I'll just continue my process to freedom so I can carry in all 50 states on my passport. Whatever I want. Forget 10 rounds. But not yet. I'm still in the system. Working on it. But takes time.
You all are so right. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED does not mean "LTC and by may issue". How do they get away with that? Look up parens patraie, and start the deep dives. They actually CAN do it. Because we are no longer under the constitution or We The People. Citizens are under the DC corp because we surrendered our rights. To get them back is a process.
If I was still living in Mass, what would I do knowing what I know now? IDK. You can still get the LTC if can get as a national. I CAN still get as a citizen. But would pierce my status. So I guess I'm now "doing penance". At least I can still carry in my "now" home state while I work toward my freedom.
But that's what it is. They get you under parens patraie. Of course they won't tell you that. See, we are subjects to the DC and state corps. We are legal slaves of the matrix. No rights. Search it out and work toward your freedom. But, ah, better to wait till you renew your LTC since it last 5 years. Which is plenty of time to hold you for you to work on your process. My problem is it only lasts 1 year from out of state.
Oh, so what is behind all this tyranny? Who are the puppet masters. You know the legislatures are puppets. They are suppose to be your public servants. If enough of us will wake up to this reality and start on our process, we can restore our republics and get our country back. But until then, well, the corporation is the "govt". Look up Clearfield vs US. It says if a govt seeks to incorporate, it must restrict itself to being a corp. Meaning they are pseudo govt and acting under the color of law. Codes and statutes are not law. The are legal fiction. And we drank the koolaid. I know. You have to look at it that way even though they tricked us all. You won't win otherwise. Sorry.
How to learn about all this. I have a website. asnstudyguide.com/spaces/12377316/content. I have lots of other sources too. But I want to start it simple. Peace.

    Step 1) Class
Step 2) Mail in application to FRB
Step 3) Wait 2 months to get an appointment to visit the FRB in Chelsea, MA
Step 4) Go to FRB in Chelsea, MA to "interview" (it isn't really an interview, just take your photo & fingerprints)
    Step 5) Wait...a long time
Step 6) For me it was *8 months* until I finally got my unrestricted non-resident LTC.
While it allows you to carry in MA it doesn't allow you to purchase anything in the state and it expires every year costing $100 to renew annually.
