Not just in UPSC, but one should have a plan B in every aspect of life if possible. Not because you've low confidence or a fear of failure, but for that peace of mind that if one thing doesn't works out for me, I'll have another trump card in my deck to surprise life with a big 'BOOOOO'. It's called being practical and being the master of your own life instead of leaving it in the hands of fate.

Let's put it in a scenario.... Suppose somebody is of 26/27 years of age, is from Mechanical Engineering Background. He's starting from Feb 2023 (preparation of various exams). He worked for a job for 2 years and didn't have much financial crisis. In short is ready to give 3-4 years to prepration. So how can he prepare for following exams
1) UPSC ESE (engineering services exam)
2) Banking exams
3) GATE
4) State level AE/JE
5) IRMS

very very VERY important advice for all the beginners!!!
Biggest problem is that I have no backup and fear of failure continously destroy peace of mind.... it's too difficult to deal with upsc pressure bcz no guarantee of success while btech having ensurance to get job.... but most people didn't afford btech like me.... having difficult life. 😕

I m preparing for CDS Exam n i m sure I'll def.. clear it but i find SSB interview tough which requires OLQs, i believe that preparation process of CSE exam can mould me into a personality required to clear such interview(SSB) n that's y i m preparing for CSE too, just wanted some tips on how to tackle 2 examinations.. ok so my biggest mistake was choosing graduation acc to my upsc prep 🥺😔🙂 at that tym i litrally didnt have knowledge abt it , iwish i have don some technical degree🙂 .... worst thing is i couldnt make full use of my grad tine too as i thought that ill have plenty of time if i choose BA...

Sir, I've completed my graduation this year....and always wanted to prepare for the Civil Service Examination for that i took arts in my ug...but now after looking the nature of the competitive examination in India, it is very much advisable to have back up plan so I've changed my mind and thinking to pursue an MBA program. भैया मैंने अपना इंटर मीडिएट PCM से किया है, 12th के बाद मैंने UPSC के लिए plan किया और मै graduation में humanities के subject ले लिया!
But problem is that मैं financially बहुत ही ज्यादे weak हूँ! 12th तक मेरा math bahot ही strong था, english भी ठीक- ठाक था! ये दोनो मेरे अच्छे थे इसलिए SSC CGL का सोच रहा हूँ और डर भी इस बात का हैं बहुत सारी चीजें मै math, english का भूल भी गया हूँ!! Is it(SSC) good option for backup plan???

Should we prepare for ssc or railways while preparing for upsc? I have decided to prepare for upsc right after 12th and for that reason I'm doing my graduation from ignou and now I'm in 2nd year. I have also given ssc chsl and mts and got selected in tier 1.
You can prepare but I would say at least give 1-2 full UPSC attempts
I think you should currently prepare for your tier 2 like it will be a great thing if you got qualified for ssc so that you'll get financial stability and then you can put all your focus on just upsc

Maine to plan B rakha he even if I will prepare seriously for UPSC. I know my family situation and my career situation to me manti hu ki mujhe plan B rkhna jaruri he..pr uska mtlb ye nhi ki I'm negative or unsure about UPSC. mera ye sochna he ki exam 1 saal tk chalega tb tk koi work b krna pdega mujhe for financial backup...

SIR I HAVE FAILED 2 TIMES IN UPSC CSE PRE . AND IN UPPSC STATE SERVISE EXAM , now LOOKING FOR PLAN B , i dont know whether to relay on state services exam & ssc cgl or not because these exams are not conducted timely and have alot of uncertainity associated with them please guide what to do. i am uncertain about future and low confidence now.

Sir I started my UPSC preparation few months ago and im working hard on that. I'm doing my graduation(now in final year) from open University (NSOU).
I know that students from open University can sit for the UPSC exam. But sir there is always a question blinking on my mind that did a student from open University get the similar impression as the students of regular University in the INTERVIEW BOARD ??? Or it leaves poor impression on the panel?!!

Don’t give up you can give any time :)
Join MNC, don't take risk. UPSC has gone crazy anyway. Don't listen to people who motivates you to do upsc coz it is too unpredictable. Take the job and study side by side
