Why do civilian businesses and individuals feel they can tell the military what to do to improve itself, with little to no insight on how we function? The positive, yet misguided, women at Fluence.co felt it to be their turn to "bring attention to" some issues they deemed "life threatening." One of these life threatening issues are pants. That's right. Pants are going to cost us the lives of female Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Sailors, and those other two branches. Angry Veteran decides to share his two cents about the matter.

I was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, when women were allowed in the field. The biggest change I saw, was while the guys would manhandle equipment, like changing aircraft tires, the gals would use the tire change tools, that didn’t require strength. Slowly, the guys started using the special tools also because it was easier. The gals were a blessing in disguise in how we worked.

My dad and I are two different heights, and yet we have the same length legs. We've measured bc it's funny. I've worked at jobs where my much taller bosses couldn't keep up with my stride. I think her whole argument about strides is hilarious just because I can keep up with the average male stride easily and...my pelvis has never cracked 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 oh my go that's not how the human body works. Also the whole pants thing is hilarious, bc I've camped out in the woods a large number of times in my life, and that's again just not how anything works.

Lady enlisted in the Air Force here. I love the OCP pants. One of my worries when I joined would be if they didn't fit right. I have wider hips and narrower waist. Standard issue pants that I have gotten in the civilian workforce have been problematic for fitting me right. I was afraid the problem would be even worse with the military uniform. Even then, uniform allowance can go to tailoring them anyway. But nope. No such problem. OCPs fit perfectly. And the blues pants were tailored perfectly for me in BMT. Now all I gotta do is worry about staying in shape so that they still fit me. Which that is not an issue since being military, working out and staying in shape is literally part of the job. I'm an adult. Literally not an issue.
There is maybe once legitimate complaint that one could make is that they don't make smaller uniforms. There are girls shorter and skinnier than me and here I'm wearing the smallest size pants (25) and top (30). But again, nothing a tailor can't fix.
Some could further complain that tailoring can be expensive. Not really, there are plenty of sweet dependa-wives on base that can and will do it. They love getting to do all sorts of side hustles. Tailoring, sewing patches and stripes, steaming. They never charge too much either and can get it done usually much quicker than the BX or anywhere in town.
I'm 5'4". marching was totally fine. No issues whatsoever. I only did it in BMT and Tech school. I'm an aircraft maintainer. Marching ain't a thing for us.
I can't speak to her other complaints since I obviously don't use any of it for my job in AMXS.

AC, I enlisted in the USAF back in 1987 when we were still wearing the OD Fatigues and I can attest that there was actually a female specific fatigue uniform. The pants & shirts were both cut to the female form, and had different pockets. When the BDUs came out they dropped the female specific uniforms, and everyone wore the same thing.
Also, a male soldier getting shot at an oblique angle to his vest is going to have the same problems with his internal organs being perforated as female soldiers.

I would have joined the army but... I never wanted to. Even as someone who never had an interest in joining the military I still hate that people try and justify with usually a stupid reason why they didn't join. Its perfectly fine to just straight up not want to join and im sure everyone in the military would rather have it be that way as they already have enough people who wanted to join not want to be there. They dont need more people who dont want to be there, trying to justify it with some bullshit excuse just makes you seem like a flake or an asshole.

Only thing I can think of is the ruck frame - but those are outdated. They were designed to distribute the load on a man's back - except women have a different pelvic structure so the frame isn't effective. But again, we don't use those anymore. Same with the Alice pack and Alice LBE system. The alice was designed to be worn so that the belt was at the actual waist line - parallel to the ground at the belly button - not the hips. So with different anatomy, this is a bit tougher for women. But that was phased out when MOLLE came along.

Great video. First observation is there are no bullet-proof vests. Only bullet-resistant. Regarding stride length, that might actually be a real thing. I am short and hated humps. Would get stuck in the back of the platoon (ordered by height) and end up doing road-guard duty. With full gear, an M-16 plus sometimes one additional rifle, it was hard to keep up with the tall folks at the front. Long story short, I did end up with a stress-fracture in my left hip. But that is not a concern just for females. There were 4 or 5 of us short boys in our platoon. So I would not classify that sexist.

Oh, my gosh. The mewling about MARCHING STRIDE.
So, in spite of my online handle, I've been nothing but an unwashed civilian with delusions of grandeur my whole life. However, I was in JROTC throughout the entirety of my high school years. We all had to march in step when going outside to PT, or to go anywhere around school, really. It was pretty much a 50-50 mix of male to female in the JROTC student body. And people varied WILDLY in height and stride length. No matter who the squad/platoon leader was, everyone could keep in step pretty well. The one time we had difficulty keeping up with the other platoon (one half of that period's JROTC class) was when our squad leader for that day (the normal squad leader was absent that day), who was this five-foot-nothing girl refused to try and keep up the pace with the other platoon, all while insisting, "ALIGN TO ME. PLEASE." We ended up about 50 feet behind the platoon in front of us, and I and the other squad leader to her left just started marching ahead of her. People were countering, We're SO far behind the other platoon. You need to speed up. I can't remember what shoes she was wearing that day, but it could've been heels. I don't think it was an official PT day that day, so we didn't have to dress out into our PT uniforms and shoes. We didn't have a repeat of this incident, at least.
But that's why this Flat-Chested, Lying, and Unbased woman's "marching stride" argument is possibly even more BS than the "vibrations" argument.
Oh, and leave it to a modern feminist to DISMISS something as serious as "grape" and hara$$ment when that's the most dangerous thing ACTUALLY at play that's threatening women in a given line of work.
