Freddie King.....Lord Have Mercy, the influences that came from this Man. He laid out a platform of Gold that goes straight to many'a Mens and Womens souls good enough to inspire greatness. He didn't die early.... he was just another first to show everybody what it takes to be an Angel of the Blues.
Albert king has a laid back style (The Velvet Bulldozer), Freddie is straight funk/boogie (The Texas Cannonball), BB is understated riffs with powerful vocals.
Freddie knows the notes and cadence that really pull at your heart and soul, this is incredible to listen to! Rip that Gibson apart Freddie you are the man!
Saw him perform this number in 1974 at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. What an awesome performer! Loved his music. Never tire of Freddie King. Wish he was still with us.
The Cannonball alive and kicking! This is how you perform a boogie. Live at the Vondelpark open air stage, the day after his gig at the Paradiso, Amsterdam. My first blues concert ever and you reckon the house was rocking. RIP Freddie, a great inspiration to so many. (thank you so much for posting)
This right here might just be my crown jewel of crown jewels, keep comin' back to it...Fast Freddie, slingin' the sixer on his strokin' shoulder, the butterfly collars out to the stratosphere, the boys in cool time, that wicked, raw tone he's blastin', his heart&soul in it 100%...RIP to my favorite of the 3 Kings!
This whole show is one of the best sounding of Freddie's band live, I've heard. The interplay between Freddie and Hammond B-3 artist, Deacon Jones is simply Brilliant! I had a blast working with Deac' in the mid-80s if the SF Bay Area, while he was in John Lee Hooker's 'Coast To Coast Blues Band'.
I wanna add 31 extra likes. The performance of this number on the old Rockschool series was the first time I'd heard it. Freddie is a bad, bad man. He squeezes juice outta that Gibson. He's TOTALLY underrated.
Wow!! I started buying his CD's about 10 years ago, but it wasn't until I started SEEING him play the guitar last year on different You Tube videos that I really appreciated how great a guitar player he was. And just when I think I can't be more impressed with his guitar playing, I see this blistering performance. I would have loved to have seen Freddie trade licks with another blues guitar legend, Stevie Ray Vaughan. That would have been earth shattering.
May God richly bless you and give you eternal joy, Mr. King. You were taken FAR too young with a God-given talent taken FAR too fast. Appears God wanted you in heaven to play there...)
The most underrated of the 3 KINGs....Freddy was a bad man with that ax slung across his shoulder..he could knock you down like a cannonball or play notes soft and sweet as honey, and this performance is one of the best ive seen, he must have completely blown those Swedes minds that night
People always forget about Earl mostly because his contributions aren't seen as important as the other 3 (without taking anything away from him as he was great) but Albert, Freddie and B.B literally shaped the future of blues from the 60s to now and will continue to do so for some time. SRV had really big bends like Albert, Clapton has a sharp attack similar to that of Freddie (can't match Freddie he was just one of a kind) and B.B.'s influence doesn't even need to be stated lol
Luv This Vid!!! I had the pleasure of working with Deacon Jones (seen and heard here, on the Hammond B-3), during the late '80s in the SF Bay area. Man...Nothing compares with the feeling of that Leslie cab, kicking it, on stage. To me, this is some of the best concert footage, that illustrates that Freddie King and Deacon were four hands, of the same musical brain.
Been listening to FK for the first time this week and what really struck me is he is where Clapton also got his singing style. Clapton's voice sounds exactly like FK.
1:35 G string : bend C to Csharp then D string : A then G then A string : E then back to D string : open string (D) then A string : C hammer Csharp and slide down
I am Dutch, 23 years old, drive a Toyota Supra, got a tatoo of Alter Bridge on my back, grew up with Guns 'N' Roses... But when I drive, I listen to Freddie King! :-D
Lotta H♥art... Luv IT bruv :))) A Royal Boogie...One powerful example of spiritus animato for us Boogie Children :) O Heal Yis See si dah Drummers gotta serious case ov da FUNK on that there American Rogers Kit Hmmm, Absolutely Classic:)
Freddie grooves like a mo'fo'. Man, the attack he gets on the notes, the way he shakes the whole damn guitar with his vibrato, and check the series of bends he does at about 3.35 minutes in. Damn!
Seeing this video makes me feel so deeply sorry for myself. I wish I was born much much earlier so that I could grow up listening to this and lookin up to this kind of music! In my generation, stolen music ruled :'(
This Just Rocks. I like the tone he's getting. The energy is high. Reminds me of a live recording of AC/DC. One of the Young bro's were out of tune but the song just kept going and the energy kept an even pace.
one of the greats who had to stand in the shadow of hendrix, clapton, jimmy page, duane allman, and a few other during the classic rock era. This is what we called boogie rock in the early 70's Clapton did a tribute to Freedie King in 1994. Hendrix liked him a lot.
This is literally as good as blues guitar gets!
Band Dialed in, fat pocket, Freddie on point, organ player coolest dude on earth. Freddie is legendary.
Enough guitar players do not realize how great this man was.
The very best!!!!
Yeah
This one right here does.
Too many guitar players don’t realise
Yeah we do
31 people dont know a blues legend when they hear it.Freddie is very underated.
everything about the song, recording and video are perfect except if only Freddie's collar was a little bit bigger
The tailor ran out of fabric... what a shame.
You know what they say about a big collar right?
I never get tired of this clip. Never. Inspirational every time I see it.
When you flee from the cops this should be playing.
He was so unique in every way. NOBODY sounds like Freddy, just attacks the strings.
There aren't enough like buttons for this! Amazing.
Freddie King has always been my favorite King of the Blues
+Huy Tran mine too!
+Huy Tran he's the boogie blues king.. nobody touches B.B.!!! Freddie outfunks almost all of em though!
Albert king has a laid back style (The Velvet Bulldozer), Freddie is straight funk/boogie (The Texas Cannonball), BB is understated riffs with powerful vocals.
I always say it like this: Freddie is the king of Boogieblues, Albert is the king of Traditional Blues, and BB is the king of contempoary blues
Freddy always a had hell of a band backing him too.
Freddy was bad ass! As a blues player I'm definitly glad to call him one of my guitar heroes!
This sort of a performance only comes along now and then - what a gem and thank you for posting!
Freddie knows the notes and cadence that really pull at your heart and soul, this is incredible to listen to! Rip that Gibson apart Freddie you are the man!
Now I see where Billy Gibbons got some of his style from. That was just killer!
I was about to write the same thing...
Blues singers "borrow". Its expected.
JDWIII as well. Jus sayin
I’m not sure if you knew this but Dusty Hill the bassist for ZZ Top played with Freddy King for a little bit in the early 70’s
Damn! That man is a MASTER! I have yet to be anything less than awe-struck after watching or hearing anything by Freddie King.
Saw him perform this number in 1974 at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. What an awesome performer! Loved his music. Never tire of Freddie King. Wish he was still with us.
I have probably listened to this about 50 times. Crazy great. I love how he is just totally enjoying himself.
I stayed at the Flying Pig’s Vondelpark location 2 1/2 decades ago, so this hits close to home.
And this is the
man who taught Eric Clapton to bend a string. He was the man who made blues as we know it. Took Robert Johnson to a new level
This should be the American National Anthem.
Jeffrey Engel I second that motion.🇺🇸
Blues Band Shuffle (version one) is the name of the song.
Yes Indeed
@@Autistic_train_set Bill Jordan - thanks! I didn't know that.
It is Man. The other is diplomacy.

He left us when he was only 42 years old. Those big names dont usually last long, but they leave a land mark.
Heaven was chock full of blues lead guitarists. Just keeping him warm down here. Besides he had a job to go to .
My absolute favorite bluesman! a hybred! What an amazing talent in his few years. The best!
Wow, he is a fantastic guitar player with a great voice as well !
me encanta...la canción...es como para renacer
The collar on his shirt is INSANE!
Yet somehow it still only barely fit around his neck
The more collar, the more tone you get. A common rookie mistake is wearing a short collar.
Wow what a treat.I love Freddie's singing high notes, and how he nails them. Its called "conviction".
Id love to hear some more about your experiences man! What you working with brotha?
Davie, did you ever play Jack's with Deacon? I worked there and would get up on his(Deacon's) stage often. Deac, was real good to me.
Deacon jones is from my hometown...his brother was a classical drummer Harold Jones
Freddie King at the top of his game. The all owe you Freddie!
this is frickin awesome! I love the way the band is hanging off his every move waiting for the changes. Love the organ and piano too. Some energy!
WOW , This is what it's all about . My son just put this up to check out , He's 19 yrs old and respects true MUSIC ! Love you CZYZ !
That drum solo sounded like some hip hop before hip hop was even hoppin
THATS NOT CHARLIE ROBINSON WHO WAS FREDDIE DRUMMER !!! I DONT KNOW THIS GUY, BUT I SURCH FOR SOME INFO ABOUT CHARLIE!!!!!!!!!!??????????
I must say, this is the greatest video on TH-cam. I come watch it at least once a month and it always puts a big grin on my face.
Loved this, still love this, always love this !!! GREAT !!

If he only had a bigger collar on his shirt! Hahahaha! This is one bad ass song! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a shirt? I thought it was the wings of his private jet
+Grady Bledsoe Freddie was a badass. His tone could melt fucking cement. R.I.P. Freddie.
+Grady Bledsoe lmfao
+Grady Bledsoe Gotta balance out those side burns

WOW is not nearly enough to describe this legend and his great blues !!!
The video that inspired me to play the guitar.
Great stage presence. Looks like he's really enjoying himself.

Incredible feeling he has
Awesome! Give me any King, Freddie, Albert or B.B. !!

1:52 Even Jesus playing piano with this legend. Groovy.
You should check out Magic Sam. He has a song similar to this called Sam's Boogie which is even better.
That drum solo is killin’!
The solo starting at 3:15 just boggles the mind. Epic! Eat your heart out, ZZ Top!
I would give absolutely anything if he was still here. ....but Im sure he is eternally happy and smiling. He was / is a precious soul. ♥

Deacon Jones organ bandleader RIP
I miss Deacon.
RIP
yeah he really was the best and he tied this line up together like nobody's business. Nobody could have done that job better than Deac.
Proud to be from Texas.
Proud to play guitar.
Because of this guy.
Freddie King was one of the rare talents that made his guitar his bitch. The rest just played their guitar really well.
i actually feel the same way. never put it into words though
i mean he literally made the damn thing scream
Absolutely incredible !
Actually, he passed while performing live. You've got here a man literally givin' his heart out for the music. ♥
I watched this video for so many tiome and i'm not bored. That's why I like the blues!
The King's so good Jesus came down to play the piano with him

Still funny even after seven years
@@mtbrider5493 And true!

I don't know what's more impressive, his guitar playing or the shirt collar that could propel a tanker across the Atlantic if used as a sail...
BOOGIE CHILIN !!
this guy has a killer guitar tone and special touch.
Words can't describe how awesome this is... I am going to learn to play like this.
This just blows me away - oh man this guy had the magic.
That B3 spinning those Leslies just slicing away back there, really compliments Freddie's guitar. Love it!
Deacon Jones. He was great.

Freddie was always my favorite King!
I remember you like it was yesterday, Freddie! I was there!
Chris Stapleton brought me here. I'm disappointed I'm only now being introduced to Freddie King. This is Gold.
this is an absolutely amazing piece
