Yes, the 9860 STS was a fantastic machine.
I am a farmer from New Zealand and have a lot of great memories as a custom harvester when operating a new 9860 STS with bin extensions throughout the USA Midwest in the summer of 2005.

Great line of combines. I run a '06 9760 here in Manitoba Canada, harvest all grains, canola, flax, soybeans. Basically if it can grow it in our seasons these combines will thresh it. Thanks for the great video!

I didn’t realize Deere offered a folding auger option that long ago. Always thought that was a CIH deal. Learn something everyday! 👏🏻👏🏻
John Deere was the first to offer the double fold auger back in 2005. Case IH introduced their double fold auger around 2012.

Im in Southern Minnesota and the guy i work for has 2 9870s for our corn and soybeans. These combines have been really reliable and we go through them completely before harvest. We run them both on beans with 35ft headers and one on corn with a twelve riw cutting head. He'd buy another one in a minute if one came up with low hours. He says they're a better machine than the 600 series.
we had a 9760 sts set up just like that one but had a little bit smaller set of drive tires and it had a hillco sidehill great machine,now we run a s 670 with a hillco.we are done with wheat and just started barley and we got few hundred acres of oats that ain't ready just yet.
Man your video quality was really good a few years ago but you somehow improve with ever new one! Not sure how much better it can get lol.... also you should do radio if you get all the tractors in the world filmed you have a very smooth/soothing voice!

We ran Rice tires on our New Holland Combine in the 80’s. Years of extreme weather, rain and late crops...just got tired of constantly fighting the mud. It made a huge difference in the ability to keep moving in wet conditions or when the frost was melting and everything was getting slick...

When the STS series came out, it changed combining forever. Great video Jason!! Those logger tires are awesome!👌👍👍
The STS was the bad copy of the Axial-Flow. In 2003 the Case IH introduced the AFX flagship combine. It was much higher specification than the 60 series STS.

We run a 2388 axial flow 9750sts and a 9860sts on the farm we run corn soybeans and wheat 9860 is a beast would love to see more of the sts on ur channel

Never seen a 60 series sts with a folder auger before
I don’t think it ever caught on really until now. Priced out a 9870 with it and it wasn’t worth the extra money
Nice looking machine. I miss running a 70 series. much more operator friendly than a S series, S series just has a more comfortable cab

bigtractorpower I have it on my new holland and it’s the only way I would be able to have combine in my shop and close the doors , pretty important when I’m combining corn in freezing temps
I remember when my uncle fited his Deutz-Fahr Topliner with those new, wide rims with tires to give him this extra traction that would finaly prevent getting stuck on his wet, mudy fields, just to break a left driveshaft on the first day of harvest

Wow powerful machine
It was a monster combine in its day.
Would love a 60 series John Deere but we don't really have the back up in this part of England to be cost effective compared to Claas. I know if we could establish John Deere combines especially this far South then I think there is good possibility my service would go up but we won't have any straw to sell this year we have not cut anything yet which is rare!

Its likely for an air assist setup for helping to blow the crop into the back of the header.

What are the opinions of the LSWs? I'm hoping we start to see them more often, they make for a pretty cool looking setup at the very least.
RyTrapp0 great traction and less compaction than any other tire. They are the best alternative to a tracked machine if you can’t afford tracks
How much bigger is the jd 9870
The 9870 STS has the same specs as the 9860 STS. The 70 series had rotor updates and the power cast tail board for spreading residue.
