      @Kevin Brett Artificially carbonated water sucks, the natural one is awesome. Or it can be carbonated with the gas from the mineral spring, that works too.

      I consume(d) a TON of soda over my 58 years of life, and yes, my teeth are mostly gone (dentures now) but no kidney stones, never once. I did have gall bladder issues, but that was removed a year ago and now no issues at all, and still consume at least 40 ounces of soda every single day, plus tea and coffee, and water.

      @kodelanaveen ปีที่แล้ว

      your daughter is right! Simple common sense. Nature wants us to kick carbon dioxide out your body and inhale oxygen to form H2O which is 70% of human body just same as earth. But we humans are so stupidly advanced, that in Dexter's Lab, you want water and CO2 to go under high pressure and force it to form carbonic acid and then consume it and rely on some stupid researches backed by same soft drinks companies. Its just common sense which is not commonly found. The best way of healthy life is to consume food as it comes in its natural way!

      *Here's a reason that it's bad: hiatal/hiatus hernias are on the rise because of carbonated beverages*
      For those who don't know: a hiatus hernia is where your esophagus becomes over-expanded right above your stomach, leading to things like bad acid reflux and thus a large increased risk of esophageal cancer.

      It isn't _neutralizing_ the sugar, it's only complementing it by shifting the taste. Using less sugar would just make it blander.

    • @ZombieBarioth
      @ZombieBarioth 4 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      @Maracachucho
      If something is overly flavored to the point you need something else to tone it down, that isn't balancing, its over compensating.
      Using less wouldn't make it bland, but it would seem that way if you're already used to the stronger flavor, the reverse is also true. If you use less sweetener you would also need less acid.

    I rarely drank soft drinks but would drink club soda like a champ...I also used to get kidney stones frequently, which I haven't suffered since cutting way back on club soda. While I admit that correlation is not the same as causation I figure its worth looking into as to whether some club soda brands may contain phosphorus if that truly is the kidney stone culprit.

    • @tonyrae86
      @tonyrae86 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It definitely depends because sparkling water doesn't have any added salts whereas many club sodas do. So if you're wanting to make sure, check the sodium content on what you're drinking and stick to ones that are no higher than normal water!

    When I was at uni, they said that carbonic acid doesn't really exist at all. From the spectrum of carbonic acid solution, there was no COH bond, only C=O and C-O-. So the solution was just dissolved CO2, which can react with H2O (water) to form H+ (acid proton) + HCO3- (bicarbonate anion) without storing any intermediate H2CO3 (carbonic acid). Technically, then, CO2 itself is a Lewis acid, which means it can accept electrons from another molecule.

    • @Asiliea
      @Asiliea 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As has been mentioned by other comments, this would make it more bland, and thus less people buy it compared to sweeter drinks. The phosphoric acid doesn't entirely negate the sugar, it just curbs the sharp "sweet" taste to a more mellow sweetness that's just as sweet in the end, but less "in your face" about it. In the end, both products in their provided quantities work together to achieve the taste. Compromising on either compromises the taste that they sell. How about we try not buying those drinks instead?

    • @cassiesevigny
