    It was an absolute pleasure making this video. I love this craft of OURs. By the way, I created a comprehensive Audio Engineering training program that is helping music creators (like you) earn more revenue, expand their careers in the music industry, and increase their demand. It's called 'The Audio Engineering Blueprint'. Here's the link to learn more: theblueprint.samoricoles.com/

    I realize that you posted your EQ and Compression videos years ago. I use a digital BOSS studio so I cannot see the waves as you demonstrate. Still, your definition of terms (such as 'gain' ,'release', etc.) was so incredibly clean and concise that it helped me so very much begin to understand what I was seeing in my studio. great video. 5 is just a definition of "make up gain", in that gain is not volume. At least per my instructors back in production school in the analog late 90's. I just want to make sure people have clear definitions in context outside of their own studios and with engineers.
    “Gain is a measure of the ability of a two port circuit (often an amplifier) to increase the power or amplitude of a signal from the input to the output port by adding energy converted from some power supply to the signal.
    Volume usually means the decibel (dB) output of a sound system. That sounds more complicated than it is. Basically, volume is how loud something is after it's been processed. So really, volume = loudness. It's the loudness you hear.

    Great video on the basics! - just a slight correction though re Ratio. With a ratio of 3:1, you say at around 11:17 - "...any audio that exceeds that threshold, is gonna be reduced by a third of its volume...". The actual reduction will actually be 2 thirds of its volume. A ratio of 3:1 means that for 3 dB over the threshold, only 1 dB will be output. (a gain reduction of 2 dB).

    • @iamsamori
      @iamsamori  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      p995 Thank you! Yes, compression and EQ are relevant whenever you’re mixing audio. So, with music production, you can apply the same concepts. Often in music production, the sounds are pretty high quality, so you just need to ensure that whatever audio processing that you do is necessary.
