It was an absolute pleasure making this video. I love this craft of OURs. By the way, I created a comprehensive Audio Engineering training program that is helping music creators (like you) earn more revenue, expand their careers in the music industry, and increase their demand. It's called 'The Audio Engineering Blueprint'. Here's the link to learn more: theblueprint.samoricoles.com/
I’m an Audio Engineer/Musician and oh boy did this guy explain my entire school program in less than an hour. I payed over $18k for this and still took me years to learn most of the hacks I know today, hence why I’m still watching “TH-cam UNIVERSITY” to help me better understand the beauty of frequencies. This is a complete 101 on frequencies, and this person simplified it to its roots. I want to take the time to appreciate you for sharing this with the world, and would like to encourage anyone seeking constructive knowledge of audio to watch this video and make a life standard to know this basis. 👍🏻
Man I took off work to watch all these videos and it is 1million percent worth it. I cannot thank you enough for making this. I did not think I would find anything on this topic without having to pay thousands.
Guys Because The video is very long I got the topics to help you find what you are looking for Frequency: 0:25 Explaining and talking about frequency 4:15 The Meter of the frequency for the individual sound for an instrument and the frequency to the dirt that you wanna remove in your mixing 11:45 Some more information rules and things to remember about the frequency Equalizer: 14:10 Basics of the Equalizer 16:51 showing the tools of the equalizer and the equalizer itself 21:16 Frequency filter types 25:12 "Rules" to equalization 29:41 Parametric Vs Graphic Equalizer 31:30 Showing Examples and how to work with the Equalizer That's it guys I hope you will find this useful because I am and thanks Samori for the amazing video it helped a lot and it was worth the time
I gotta tell you, anybody that has gotten this far, doesn't have the slightest issue with the length of your video. But, all the help us newbies get is deeply and highly appreciated. For me, watching the whole thing is more effective because I connect the dots a bit easier. Blessings, my brothers and sisters.

Tehilah Crasta Thank you for watching, and for your feedback. I believe that teaching the fundamentals will give folks a solid foundation to build from. Best of luck!

Wow, thank you, Beefheart1! I appreciate your generous feedback! I'm glad that you found the video useful for what you are doing in music and audio. Cheers!
I really can't think of anything additional to say about the quality and effectiveness of this video. I am a Music Production student @ Full Sail University. What you have contributed to the profession is tremendous! It's all about building on what you've shown from here, i.e. ear training, gear training and other applications!

Thank you Samori. An excellent tutorial - detailed without waffling, well ordered, logical and articulate. MONEY NOT WASTED NOT WASTED NOT WASSSSTEEEEDDD! I SPENT THOUSANDS OVER THE LAST 3.5 YEARS AND JUST NOT DOING JACK SHIT STILL GOING TO STUDIOS... NOW IN A FEW MONTHS TO A YEAR OF PRACTICE, I CAN TAKE CLIENTS AND OPEN UP MY OWN STUDIO!!! LETS GET THIS MONEY SCHMONEY MONEY I LOVE YOU AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW YO ASS! I SPENT HOURS WATCHING TUTS THAT WERE GREAT HELP BUT THIS GELED THAT SHIT TOGETHER AND JUST THANK YOU SAMORI I KNOW I WENT OFF!
This is great, even for some of us more advanced producers. Sometimes we forget the basic science and get too clever with manipulation. I would say one thing though, but this is just my method so take it with a pinch of salt! I tend to do most of my boosting on the way in using hardware, and the clinical cutting I use plugins for that precision, then for laughs I usually run it back out for a final polish, but thats usually because I just love running my audio through some voltage! Thank you so much Mr Coles!
+Steven Hosszu Thank you for your feedback, Steven. One of the reasons that I love our craft is that there are so many ways to accomplish a multitude of tasks. You never stop learning and being inspired by techniques that others are using. One of the big challenges is to trust your methods, and most importantly your EARS. I see our craft as being guided by levels of generally accepted standards, and tried & true best practices. But there are not rules that are set in stone. Great ears, general knowledge of the basic audio tools, and a producer's instinct, can produce records that sound as commercially viable as tunes that get radio play.
this video is really old, but i find it being one of the most informative and hand holding guides ever. thank you so much for clearing a bunch of stuff out for me. subbed
Thanks so much Samori - this is the clearest and most helpful explanation I've found, much appreciated! Have you any tips for EQing in the mastering stage too?
I am happy to hear that you found the video useful, Stefanie! EQing in the mastering stage depends on whether or not you still have control of the mix. In other words, if your mastering via the 'Stereo Out' or 'Main Out' in a mix that you're working on, you could still deal with frequency issues on a track by track basis. If your mastering from a 2-track stereo mixdown, then EQ decisions would be dependent on what you feel the mix needs (i.e. less mud, brighter high end, tighter mids, etc.). I know this doesn't give you a definite answer, but there are a few too many variables involved with mastering to be as specific as I wish I could be for you.
You're amazing man. So passionate, so helpful, so intelligent. Seriously well spent 45 minutes. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, keep at it! God bless.
I never comment on stuff, but for this I had to make an exception. I've checked out dozens of vids, trying to learn how to use EQ in Logic Pro X and gotten nowhere. This one completely opened my eyes. I knew about 'frequencies' and I knew what an Equalizer was 'supposed to do', but this is the only vid I've found that puts the two together. The balance of technical information and sensible appliction is perfect for the beginner (me!) After weeks of swimming around in my vocal takes, I've finally got a handle on it. Thank you!

Just very sound, Clear, to the point instructions, with the precision an ICBM missile ,lol excellent job once again thank you good brother.
Thank you so much! I'm glad that my video helped clarify the topics of Frequency and EQ for you!
oh my God, after feeling headache for months, finally you equalized me!!!
thanks a lot
+Abdirahman Somali You are too funny, Abdirahman! I am glad that you found my video tutorial helpful!

YOU JUST MADE THE DAMN DIFFERENCE IN MIXING 2-3 DAYS NOT FIXING ANYTHING BUT MAKING IT WORSE TO KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO DO, NOW ITS ONLY UP FROM HERE!!!! MAN THANK YOU....
Great ears, general knowledge of the basic audio tools, and a producer's instinct, can produce records that sound as commercially viable as tunes that get radio play.
this video is really old, but i find it being one of the most informative and hand holding guides ever. thank you so much for clearing a bunch of stuff out for me. subbed
You broke this whole concept down. Great job please make more!
+BePreparedNews I'm glad the video helped! I will do my best to prepare more vids...
Thank you
I agree with Omar Yousaf. This was easily the best tutorial I have seen. You made it so easy to understand the whole process. Thank you
Thanks so much Samori - this is the clearest and most helpful explanation I've found, much appreciated!
The best 45 minutes in my recent music producing life... best on TH-cam! Thanks 🙏🏻!
Thanks!!!!! This was an excellent Introductory Course I have learned and now understand a lot more
You're welcome, Hobz The Prophet! I am happy to know that this information will build upon your understanding of frequency and equalization!
This is EXCELLENT! 100% the BEST vid I've seen on this topic. You're an incredibly talented teacher. THANK YOU and please make more.
This was perfect… wish you did a video like this on every single part of engineering lol
Thank you for watching! Glad that you found the information helpful!
You're amazing man. So passionate, so helpful, so intelligent. Seriously well spent 45 minutes. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, keep at it! God bless.
+Aidan Fine Thank you! I'm glad that you found the video helpful.
Absolutely great video thank you for taking the time to put this together
You're welcome, Sir! Thank you for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you!
That's fantastic! I am glad that the information was helpful to you.
The Best EQ and Frequency Explanation .. thank you for taking the time to do this sir..
techingo666 You're welcome. And, thank you for taking the time to watch.

samori, with my eyes closed listening to your voice, it reminded me a bit of denzel Washington!
