    It was an absolute pleasure making this video. I love this craft of OURs. By the way, I created a comprehensive Audio Engineering training program that is helping music creators (like you) earn more revenue, expand their careers in the music industry, and increase their demand. It's called 'The Audio Engineering Blueprint'. Here's the link to learn more: theblueprint.samoricoles.com/

    I’m an Audio Engineer/Musician and oh boy did this guy explain my entire school program in less than an hour. I payed over $18k for this and still took me years to learn most of the hacks I know today, hence why I’m still watching “TH-cam UNIVERSITY” to help me better understand the beauty of frequencies. This is a complete 101 on frequencies, and this person simplified it to its roots. I want to take the time to appreciate you for sharing this with the world, and would like to encourage anyone seeking constructive knowledge of audio to watch this video and make a life standard to know this basis. 👍🏻

    I never comment on stuff, but for this I had to make an exception. I've checked out dozens of vids, trying to learn how to use EQ in Logic Pro X and gotten nowhere. This one completely opened my eyes. I knew about 'frequencies' and I knew what an Equalizer was 'supposed to do', but this is the only vid I've found that puts the two together. The balance of technical information and sensible appliction is perfect for the beginner (me!) After weeks of swimming around in my vocal takes, I've finally got a handle on it. Thank you!

    Hey man, I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I went to college for sound engineering , and record field audio on sets. So sometimes I get rusty on the basics ( No shame!) because I don't do much post work. You explain everything very well and clear. You rule!

    Thank you Samori. An excellent tutorial - detailed without waffling, well ordered, logical and articulate. Such a pleasure NOT to hear 'like' 'kinda' 'y'know' 'er' 'um' that so many TH-cam videos are cursed with.
    As a newcomer to recording and mixing in the budget home-studio world, I found this immensely helpful and one of the best audio tutorials I've seen. I'll be using this A LOT!
    I'm off to watch the rest of your vids right now.

    Thanks so much Samori - this is the clearest and most helpful explanation I've found, much appreciated! Have you any tips for EQing in the mastering stage too?

    • @iamsamori
      @iamsamori  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am happy to hear that you found the video useful, Stefanie! EQing in the mastering stage depends on whether or not you still have control of the mix. In other words, if your mastering via the 'Stereo Out' or 'Main Out' in a mix that you're working on, you could still deal with frequency issues on a track by track basis. If your mastering from a 2-track stereo mixdown, then EQ decisions would be dependent on what you feel the mix needs (i.e. less mud, brighter high end, tighter mids, etc.). I know this doesn't give you a definite answer, but there are a few too many variables involved with mastering to be as specific as I wish I could be for you.

    This is great, even for some of us more advanced producers. Sometimes we forget the basic science and get too clever with manipulation. I would say one thing though, but this is just my method so take it with a pinch of salt! I tend to do most of my boosting on the way in using hardware, and the clinical cutting I use plugins for that precision, then for laughs I usually run it back out for a final polish, but thats usually because I just love running my audio through some voltage! Thank you so much Mr Coles!

      @iamsamori  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Steven Hosszu Thank you for your feedback, Steven. One of the reasons that I love our craft is that there are so many ways to accomplish a multitude of tasks. You never stop learning and being inspired by techniques that others are using. One of the big challenges is to trust your methods, and most importantly your EARS. I see our craft as being guided by levels of generally accepted standards, and tried & true best practices. But there are not rules that are set in stone. Great ears, general knowledge of the basic audio tools, and a producer's instinct, can produce records that sound as commercially viable as tunes that get radio play.
