I look back at the 2018 World Cup and how well VAR was used and implemented overall. The difference in the premiere league is the total opposite.

Think there is a very good chance you will make contact with the defender and not only do you get a pen you get the opponent send off for free.
People think diving, or looking for legs in the box, or shooting against arms is problematic, this is way worse than that and also very exploitable by sneaky attackers
As Luiz hasn't instigated any contact it's an accidental foul. Accidental fouls arent meant to result in red cards

How you fix VAR.... no one makes a decision but the ref. if a game changing event happens that is in question (Red card or goal) and a VAR assistant spots the potential error he tells the ref theres a ''potential'' to alter the decision and the ref HAS to go to the monitor and view it and make a decision for himself. That way ONLY the ref is to blame for bad decisions.

As a United fan I 100% agree, In Arsenal's situation today you could clearly see that Luiz let the player go because he's probably thinking look if he scores it's 1-1 at halftime, but if he goes for him that's definitely a red card since he's the last man back. And if Luiz goes for him it's the classic double jeopardy where you've now conceded a penalty AND you're down to 10 men since that defender was the last man back. Even today with United against Southampton Bednarek got a red card to put Southampton down to 9 men and I didn't understand the decision, they're already down to 10 men, the score is 6-0, just give the penalty if you have to, but why send him off?
I'm confused to why people are even saying it's not a red. The rule states if you deny an obvious goal scoring opportunity it's a straight red. It doesn't matter if you barely touched them or tickled their neck, that is a red and has always been a red

Difference in wiping a player out and not making an attempt to do a tackle is that when you wipe out a player you have done a last ditch attempt to get the ball, but when you don’t make an attempt to do a tackle therefore you haven’t made an attempt to get the ball at all.
