Sweetness is my all time favorite player and he is why I became a Bears fan. Beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul from another terrific player and human in Emmitt Smith. RIP Sweetness :(
I'm a Raider fan so Bo and Marcus will be my favorites but Walter was always right up there with them. To do what he did with the crappy teams he had?! As much as I idolized Marcus and Bo as a kid, Walter was always the end all be all for me.
I remember seeing the first cpl games Walter played for the bears an he got hammered hard,I never dreamed Walter would turn out to be the man he was an the overall great human being he was on the field an off the man had a hungry heart for life AN WE LOVE WALTER PAYTON!! WE MISS YOU BUDDY!!
I watched Walter play as a youth. Looking back, I realize what an absolute gentleman he was with a Lion’s heart. Never loud, selfish, or self-boasting. We’ve lost so much in the decades since then. We really have.
