The game has a meaning behind it, you are the immunity system and the props are cancer cells, disguising as regular cells. Also a lot of hints are in the game that point towards cancer too.
Just for clarification. Another more widely believed theory is you were the bodies immune system fighting the cancer in the reporters body, hence why he kept looking worse and worse off as time went on. It's also heavily implied by some lines you kinda missed or just breezed past.
It’s also thought that the way you play the game is in fact a sort of recreating of the massacre, the way you interact in the game both shows a violent depiction of bloodshed as well as many other interpretations like chemotherapeutic treatment being as delicate as the sledgehammer and cancer twisting and morphing the body to be more and more dis functional.

[SPOILERS, RAAAH] The reporter (Mr.Shpitz) smoked too much and got cancer, lung cancer I think. You name it. You, as a body immunity system. You fight against cancer cells diguising as regular cells. The reporter gets worse and worse each round. And at the end (the part where your hammer disappears and you're in a white room.) The doctor talks to the reporter, talking about how he's dying and stuff. And I think that the reporter's mother died because of smoking, caused by cancer. The reporter, Mr.Shpitz died the same way as his mother. His mother must've have treated him in the bad way in his backstory. (Yeah, the body immunity system [You] didn't succeed saving him.) And I think you're the doctor talking to him at the ending part. Because the door opened and I think you're supposed to enter? *I haven't watched everything about what you're supposed to do in that game yet, so yeah.*
@@A.please_insert_witty_text.M True, and smoking is a major factor of pancreatic cancer. The reporter’s already in metastasis, which implies he hasn’t done anything to stop the cancer, or had just discovered it in that stage.
this was way deeper than I thought it was gonna be. A+ game, decent storytelling, theme fits pretty good, simple differences between similar levels that make them feel unique, and more

Okay, so their last "theory" at the end is backwards. The reporter set out to make others *aware* of the deaths. "People need me." "There are people dying." and more. He wanted to use his last days to spread awareness, it seems. "No-one will care about my death if I don't prove to them that I lived." He wanted to show that he was trying, I think. That he was attempting to make something of himself.
dude what is with the DJ and Alan Becker in the background, you didn't tell us at all XD I was like: "woah DJ, WOAH AND ALAN?!" made it so much better.
Heres my theory the player has a form of cancer caused by smokeing this is shown by the ash tray of the news reporter see how as the news reporter’s condition worsens the ash tray has more cigarettes in it. The news reporters condition also represents the condition of the player and his mind. The timer represents how much time the player has to live. The end of the game is what happed before the player began to kill the “vermin” the player wants to be remembered, to let people know he was alive, the player would go to any lengths to be remembered he doesn’t care if the memories are good or bad the only thing that matters to him is he is remembered. Then the player goes into work he begins to hallucinate seeing people as objects. As he goes around exterminating the “vermin” he is killing people. As the levels begin to become more warped it shows how the cancer is affecting the mind of the player. If anyone has any theories of their own I would love to hear them thanks for reading
