This is just the kind of flosstube I like 😊 I'm 61, and have been sewing and stitching in one form another since I was a child. An aunt taught me to cross stitch in 1976 when I was 13, and it was a Holly Hobbie, which was very popular then.
I have some of the same charts and have stitched in the same styles as you. I have the Shepherd's Bush Potting Shed framed on my wall that I stitched in the 90s. I have done so many samplers with pulled and drawn work, and also hardanger.
I stopped doing cross stitch around 1999 and picked it back up in 2019. I'm happy to say I have completed several of those old projects that were put away partially done, and haven't really bought too many new things. I have so many pretty things I've had for years and years I want to finish, I just can't see adding too much more to the pile, I'm not getting any younger! I mostly prefer the older charts anyway. And that Lavender and Lace Santa of the Forest isn't going to stitch himself!

You have an absolute gallery of lovely projects around you. What a great amount of stitching you have done! I made a blanket for my niece 33 years ago. Loved seeing all your old treasures! Even if a pattern is now what you might call "out of date", I think it is nice to see your stitching progress in the pieces done over the years. A suggestion for projects you have partially done but do not want to finish, maybe you could pick a part you have well along and finish just that. For example the Lanarte kit with the ladies at the beach, you could finish just the lady you have almost completed. The cut work piece you could use just a small portion already completed to decorate a box top or put in a small frame. And the cushion you started on your honeymoon you could finish enough to make a square and keep it for memories sake. Hope my ideas get you thinking! Happy stitching.

I must have been 18 when I did my first cross stitch. I was admiring a friend's project. She made me a little kit from a scrap of fabric, put in a chart, and floss that may or may not have corresponded to the charted colors. She neglected to tell me all of the cross stitches started in the same direction and crossed in the other direction, so it looked like a raccoon had made it. But I was hooked and knew better with the next project. 🤣
On another channel, a youtuber had a Mirabilia (I think) angel that was her first purchase as a teenager and she had never finished it. It was discolored much more than what I can see of your project. She soaked it in laundry detergent and Oxiclean (a bleach) and almost all of the staining came out. The floss colors became slightly more intense, oddly enough. It was a triumph. I would give this a go for your beautiful alphabet.

I think I might’ve been thirty or a few years older. We didn’t have a lot of money back then and those ornaments became Christmas presents for a lot of the family and friends. I was hooked. I made so many things for family and friends, but except for those original ornaments I kept nothing for myself. I made lots of things for my mama, pillows, napkin rings, wall plaques with sayings that mama wanted. Lots of baby gifts had cross stitch on them. I did candlewicking for a while too. Oh wow Ashley, I'm so surprised I won! Now I can see how the card should have been made, thank you! You won't be surprised to hear I have a few needlecraft wips too, but not as many or as beautiful as yours! You have reminded me I need to frame one of mine and finish two projects I was given due to friends' decluttering, including a tiny tudor rose pincushion. Great video, love seeing a stash! X

Teresa Wentzlers can go for well over the original price. They are getting harder and harder to find at a reasonable price. I love her projects 😊

Would it be possible to gently wash the Cats xstitch and if necessary dye the fabric to complement the staining? I was a late starter of x stitch because I knitted, by hand and machine. I was about 40 when I taught myself to x stitch. Still do both aged 77. Well done on your first podcast. 🌻

@@karengardner3311 sorry for taking so long to get back to you. There isn’t a title on the chart I was given but it is from a company called T J Morris which is based in Australia. I did a quick google search but couldn’t find anything. However, I think you might find some free charts on line. If you are in the UK, the cross stitch magazines often have nice charts in, I hope that helps 🤗
