    Brother.
    No life story.
    Straight to the point.
    Then another choice tool.
    Thank you so much for the 1st tool you made.

    sweet and simple. thanks, had a neighbor needing to get his off, I'll share this with him.

      It only works when you have the openings in the flywheel. Haven't had a flywheel without the openings yet, but they do exist. Hopefully this helps your neighbor.

    Yes. It is very easy to make a flywheel puller that hitting on the crank or flywheel is not necessary. Also pounding sideways on a crank can cause destruction down the road.

    Its always nice to know your not stuck having to buy a special tool. Just a lil thinkin outside the box and your in business.

      @DonnDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. I used to do it with angle iron puller but it was too thin so I made a thicker one. Works good, the special tool works even better though. :)

    Damn, that is simple and cheap. I don't need one right now, but I better build one anyways.

    Great video! I need one of these to work on mowers. The end reminds me of the time I killed myself to get a stripped oil plug bolt out with vice grips, only to later discover I had a bolt remover socket set in one of my workbench drawers...

    How did the spanner worked when the Knott in the back was not welded to the plate?

  • @therealfranklin
    @therealfranklin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nice admission at the end there. Since most of the stuff I end up having to pull is quite a bit better stuck than your motorcycle flywheel appears to be, I wonder which of your two tools will take more pressure before something strips or bends.

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would pick the special tool with threaded end. Takes no time to use and if threaded to the end I don't think it will strip. When the flywheel is stuck beyond imagination I've had luck with a gentle tap on the puller with a brass hammer when its tightened. It then usually pops off, but I bet this action is against the rules like using the nut tool I made. :)

    thank you for the demonstration. I'm restoring a 2000 yamaha DT 175 and the stator is blown from a short circuit in the loom. i have 10 mm aluminum block I believe it would substitute for the steel.

      I believe so. I've always made special pullers for the bikes I'm planning on keeping for longer time though. Makes life much easier on the long run.

    What do you do when you use a gear puller and a steering wheel puller and it breaks bolts the brakes washers.
    I then ordered the tool to actually pull out the flywheel and I screwed it into the center and it's stripped the threads on both the flywheel and the tool what is keeping my flywheel from coming off in mind you it rotates freely.

    I often get away with just loosening the flywheel retaining nut until it is flush with the crank, find somewhere to put a bit of outward pressure on the flywheel, and whack the nut with a brass or plastic hammer. I've never damaged anything by this method.

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've done that too but sometimes the bugger is on so tight it even bends the flywheel a little when pulling it with a universal puller. So I would use that special one anytime (shown in the end of the video). :D No match for that.

    When you pulled that I did not see a key on the shaft or the flywheel. Did I miss something or is it missing?

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, for my surprise I did no see a key either. This ignition system has been custom fitted to this bike as it turns out and the keyways do not line up.

    • @NOLIMIT69NOLIMIT2000

    How can that pull it off when the centre bolt don't screw in to anything.

    • @DonnDIY

      Just give it a thought and you'll figure it out. ;)

    • @Mr1dilligaf
      @Mr1dilligaf 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have thought about it. There is no thread on the centre bolt hole so how can it push on the end of the crank bolt.

    • @koreanbulldogge

      I am wonderig the same thing.

    • @furniksadventures9660
      @furniksadventures9660 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It pushes against the screw in the middle. The thing pulling it out is the bolts on the side.

    • @Mr1dilligaf
      @Mr1dilligaf 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's how it is meant to work but what stops the nut on the centre bolt from turning when using the spanner. If the nut was welded to the steel plate then I believe it would work.

      I did it like 5 times since I had to fiddle around with the positioning of the flywheel due to the misalignment of the crankshaft and flywheel key ways. But I'm still lazy. :D

    • @rovidbouski4022
      @rovidbouski4022 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did, but the threaded portion is still thin and they snapped. I cut it off and I am machining a new flywheel on my cnc. Had the threads not been rusted clean off I would have bought the removal tool
