With 'The Art of falling apart' they broke the standards of the eighties techno-pop, achieving a top level of synthesis between arrangements, melodies and lyrics. One the records of the century, out of its time, no doubt. Thanks Marc and Dave
Este tema es bien nostálgico, habla sobre su propia vida , de cómo lo trataron sus padres indiferentemente y por lo cual tuvo que irse con un remordimiento en su corazón ................. un abrazo de Peru 🇵🇪 ..
Marc Almond is 60!!!! Where on earth did all those years go? Saw Soft Cell at Brixton Academy years ago and it was the biggest Karaoke night ever, 5000 of us singing our hearts out.
Wow, I love this Song , takes me back to my teenage years. It's so true . Father would get Mad , if. U had the upper hand . If I just open my mouth ablot anythink father get Mad, lol . Moving food around the plate , is so true , both seeting at each other . I don't know why it like that. 😅❤🙂❤️🌻🌠🎵
My "coming out and proud to be who you are"- song! Marc was singing exactly about my situation at home... I didn't know he was gay, neither about my sexuality, but (this is true) listening to this song on and on made me angry about my "home" and sustainably changed my way of thinking. I played this song to my mother, telling her, that this is exactly us and that I feel exactly like this guy, she was shocked... I felt intellectually more developed than my parents and thought that I was the kid with the "upper hand"...:)
Amo ésta canción y éste video que recuerdo con cariño verlo alguna vez en tve1 allá por 1983. Magia y melancolia a partes iguales. Buenos tiempos para la lírica.
When I saw on the second channel (there were only two) that there was in Spain, this filler song as "musical minutes", right there I got hooked on Soft Cell. Marc and Dave
Que hermosos,y verlos en el concierto en londres en el 2018 ,más lindos aún, me transmiten tanta felicidad gracias por su música ,los amo ,saludos desde Perú

I'm sure a brilliant musician & Songwriter would be able to sample the opening and finishing synth cords to make an equally amazing song!! They really grab you. Obviously have to get permission but I'm sure that could happen. I'm a big Gary Numan/Tubeway Army fan and am thinking about Sugababes Freak like me...Are Friends Electric sample. Watched a recent Gary Numan Documentary and he said he was very flattered that someone wanted to sample his music and it's happened a lot of times!!
Why is Marc Almond dressed differently in this video than the video that appears in the Documentary Young Guns dedicated to Soft Cell, where you can see brief scenes from Where The Heart Is? Are there two versions of this video? In the version that appears in the documentary, Marc is wearing a black leather jacket, he is dressed entirely in black, and he has a different hairstyle, and he wears more makeup, and the close-ups of him are better. Please someone publish that version!!!! That's a Soft Cell mystery, like the banned Sex Dwarf video

Honestly you completely nailed it. I'm still trying to get over it. One track I see to go back and listen to is Martin.

Gracias por ilustrarme. Realmente la letra es fuerte. es como una "dark song". Saludos de un peruano en el extranjero.
This song got me through my adolescence, I'm now 55+
Just turned 56. Still got this on vinyl. My knees didn't hurt in those days. 🤣
So am i !!!Nostalgia

The 12" version of this is amazing!
Love this and 'Its A Mugs Game'. To very under rated classic Soft Cell tracks. The lyrics on both are so poignant .
I never knew anyone who loves it's a mugs game ..it's my fave song of all times .was it a single ?..just live for it

My best friend and I went to the local youth club fancy dress as Soft Cell. Our girlfriends did our make up. Not a clue.

Things that threaten to hurt your pride
Mother loves to be concerned
Using lessons that she learnt
Fathers never understand
When children have the upper hand
Smiling you did your time at school
Crying quietly like a fool
Saturday night and Sunday morning
Did all the things they asked you to do
They say that home is where the heart
Is But home is only where the hurt is
Pull the wool over the eyes
Forget the worries that you started
Mother loves to be concerned
Using lessons that she learnt
Fathers never understand
When children have the upper hand
When you stayed out every night
The first time from your parent's sight
They started to show some concern
But by then it was too late
Feel it's time to pull away
Shut your ears to all they say
Be yourself you know it's true
When in the end what's left is you
Mother loves to be concerned
Using lessons that she learnt
Fathers never understand
When children have the upper hand
