did not finish book, dnfs
#booktube #bookworm #booklover
DNFed a vampire romance because in the first twenty pages, and all within the same three pages or so, the vampire's scent was described as smelling like: birthday cake, butterscotch, cotton candy, chocolate, and some other confectionary that I can't recall. This is supposed to be a lethal predator!
*Twilight voice*: this is the scent of a killer, Bella. Except the killer is diabetes and heart disease
LMFAO chill 🤣 honestly who wants to smell that sweet all the time. Sounds nauseating
I DNF'd a book once because the MMC had the same name as my daughter and it was a spicy book. I just couldn't get into it reading my daughter's name.
This is 100% valid !!!
😱😱😱😱 yes that would be weird!
yep, i wont even start a book for this reason!
I DNF’d a book because the MC was like 16 and saw a random dude in a club with a knife and decided to follow him instead of getting the bouncers, calling 911, and leaving. The dude lead her to a dark back room where a demon hunter info dumped demon lore…to a fellow demon hunter. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves when a plot is forcibly driven by sheer stupidity and illogical BS.
I read this 5 times and I'm 💀 this is absolutely wild
@@litwithleigh -looks around nervously- Psst, it’s literally chapter one of the Mortal Instruments series. Now excuse me while I go hide from its fans.
The main characters name was Chad…
LOL valid
hiding from the mailman is some real shit 😂
Lmaoooo I've never been more embarrassed
i honestly agree with your ali hazelwood take, like, her writing is not the problem but the unicorn knee highs definitely are
Ahhh so glad you understand!! Undoubtedly she can form a sentence... But the content of said sentence is, more often than not, highly questionable 😂
I DNF'd a book because the death of a villain. The book had already been lethally boring but the last straw was when the main villain's right hand man just got killed in the most bland way in the beginning of the book (it was not the first book in the series) and it got completely ignored. Like that whole thing happening had no value to the people or the plot. Like I'm sorry but I already didn't care about the characters and now they don't even care about each other?! Nah😂
LMAO lethally boring took me out. You could say, it was .... Lethal hehehehehe. Anyways yeah that's legit.
I AM french and the "wah-lah" instead of "voilà" had me staring at my screen for 2 minutes in shock !
LMAOOO I literally turned my Kindle off after reading it bc WTAF?????
the amount of audiobooks ive dnfed from the library because I cant listen to romance in an American accent
LMAOOOOOO this is valid. I'm sorry watching this video must've been insufferable 😂
My petty reason I don't read Elin Hilderbrand anymore is that she ALWAYS uses the characters' first and last names, It is never "Nina came over to visit" it is always "Nina Mobley came over to visit" and she has the most inane names like Celerie so why do we need to know her last name all the time, are there so many characters named Celerie that we need to differentiate?
That was a very long run on sentence sorry
It's not a run on sentence, it's a Lisa Jewell inspired sentence 😉 that's valid. Celerie deserves an intervention tbh
Environmentalist MC decided to lecture a whale-watching boat full of tourists about the horrors of Sea World while working as the tourguide (she even mentioned that she made children cry). I agree, Sea World does some shady stuff in the name of entertainment, but there's a time and a place and the job that you need is not it. Instantly hated her; could not continue.
Lmao like way to be a bummer. I didn't pay $250 for you to summarize Blackfish for me 😂
I DNF'd a book before after looking at goodreads and seeing a Booktuber I hate gave it a good review...
*Not you, I love you
LMAO thanks for the clarification. This is exceptionally real. If I see too many ppl that I usually "disagree" with raving about a book, I'll skip it 😂
male author of a non-fiction history book was kinda weird about historical women's fashion being uncomfortable to wear, gave me the ick
i dnf’d a book because i thought it was like a period fic but it turned out to be modern time 😭 the realization made the plot all sucky for me
The ole switcheroo
CLIPPY haha the memories. This is so brilliant 👏
Lmaoo clippy taught me so much 😂
I only DNF bc something triggered me. I rarely get bored with descriptions and stuff enough to leave the book. Hey, I hate some tho but it's funny to annotate my insults on the pages and scream at the book. But if it's triggering and makes me anxious bye bye bye
Lmao I enjoy arguing with the book in the margins as well
u r soo underrated - u r funny and provides us with so much info - thank u for existing
Omg thank you!!
Also, I finally DNFed the ACOTAR series because I just could not deal with the mental link between the two main characters anymore. Something about them sexting and sending nudes through it just gave me the ICK
Pardon?? Lmao I've never read this series
@@litwithleigh Honestly, if they were any shorter I'd recommend reading them for the Experience (TM) but when you're 200 pages into a book and not even a third of the way through? That's no longer hate reading, that's just punishing yourself
Pancaked by a car took me out 😂
🤭🤭🤭🤭
I recently posted this in a different video, but I don't DNF much so eh, here it is again. A fantasy book (I don't remember the title) used the word "t'was" so many bloody times that I couldn't stand it any longer. It stood out like a sore thumb when none of the other language changed that much. XD
Yeah twas needs to be used once at the most LOL.
I seriously can’t stop laughing. 🤣
🥰🥰🥰
Loved this.
I consider myself the biggest Emily Henry stan but for a second there I considered not preordering Funny Story because the MMC is wearing crocs on the cover 😂
Also as to "wallah", I work a lot with Arabic speaking youths and they use it all the time meaning "by God" so ...
Yeah I've heard of wallah but that's definitely not what they were going for in Romcommers 😂 omg I didn't even see the Crocs 🫨
13:39 we should call them equations lol
😂😂😂😂
Hahaha the mailman got lucky 😂 I feel like it’s lucky I don’t read those romcom books you like cause so much cringe would cause DNF constantly for me 😂. Loved this vid as always. ❤
LOL to be fair my top 3 pettiest dnfs were thrillers 😂 I feel like I've become used to the romance cringe now. It's part of the genre
DNF'd youtuber who said expecially and worser.
LMAOOO ok so it was me?? I love to say worser ironically
I'm glad you didn't take me the wrong way. I've watched a couple of your videos now and I really have enjoyed them>@@litwithleigh
lmfaooo this made me laugh 😭😭💀💀
Mission complète 🫡🫡🤭
The fact that I know exactly what the strawberry one is 😭 and the fact that I read that entire godforsaken series because I thought “it can’t be THAT bad” 😭😭
What book?!?
Waiting on that video about cult books, friend!
Yes ma'am 🫡 might just be a TH-cam shorts tho I don't have that many recs
That Clippy comment took me out lol
Hehehe 😘
This one was a classic (other than the last bit, ahem).
Do you mean... The poop mouth 😂
@@litwithleigh uh, yup.
15:27 This makes me think of Austin Powers 😂
I'm ashamed to say I've never seen the movie lol
I can't ever DNF a book even reading the Joanne Fluke ridiculous books to my niece I would finish them so I can get through anything at this point
You're stronger than I'll ever be!!!
Every time I see someone write "diet-y" instead of "deity" I sob like guys please at this point it's not a typo do you actually think it's spelled that way???😅
Lmaoooo me with anti climatic until someone clowned Tf outta me 😂😂😂 but in a published book that's shameful bc where was the editor???
Have you read Alexa Donne? I think once you're done cleansing your palate from crime/mystery you should check her out
Noo I haven't! I'm slowly getting back into crime/mystery, so which of her books do you recommend I start with ?
Walla is a voice acting term referring to the random murmur of background crowds. Definitely not a variation of voila.
In this context, it most definitely was a variation of voila.
Anyone can publish kdp WITHOUT a fee 😂😂😂😅
Wait WHAT?? LOL we need to gatekeep 😂
@@litwithleigh right??? There should be some form of passage to entry! 🤣🤣
First comment yeyyy....love the pettiness
Thank you 💖🥰
Not a pelt 🤮
My reaction exactly lol
