Greetings from Japan 🇯🇵, the homeland of Yamaha. Your explanatory video was very helpful. I'm glad that Yamaha's two-stroke engines developed in Japan are still in use in Thailand 🇹🇭. I overhauled an Autolube oil pump, but I encountered a symptom where oil was leaking from the plunger shaft little by little when the engine was running, even though there was nothing wrong with it when the car was stopped. However, your explanation from 4:35 helped me realize that the deterioration of the oil seal on the oil pump output shaft of the clutch cover may have caused the oil in the oil pump to be pressurized by the primary compression pressure leak, causing the oil to leak from the plunger shaft. The oil seal on the plunger shaft is very small and is a springless single lip seal, so it won't leak if you pressurize it by holding the shaft in your mouth and blowing into it, but it seems that it couldn't withstand the primary compression pressure leak of a two-stroke engine. If the clutch cover oil seal is leaking, when adjusting the minimum stroke of the Autolube oil pump, a small amount of oil will leak out from the pulley shaft like bubbles. This is the lesson I learned: when overhauling the oil pump due to an oil leak, it is always better to replace the clutch cover oil seal as well.
Hi @kes7774. You are correct about replacing the clutch cover side oil seal. The Yamaha DT air cooled 2 stroke bike is a wonder of Japanese engineering. It is already discontinued and we cannot buy it new here in South East Asia but I know it is still sold as new bike in Africa. I cannot think of any other two stroke bike model that has been sold for so long time and in many parts of the world as the Yamaha DT.

So I just picked up a 77 dt175. It doesn't have a auto lube only a block off cover. The cable goes into it but nothing there. Was this a option? I don't have anything that those hoses from the case go to either. And since there is no auto lube. What ratio mix gas would you recommend for in the gas tank?
The autolube pump was definitely removed in the past. That is what you will find with these old 2-strokes. If the bike still uses the original carb, the inlet for the 2T oil should also be block off. Otherwise it will have an equivalent to a vacuum leak. I would go for a 32:1 to 40:1 mix ratio. Will adjust depending on the plugs fouling or not.
@@DIYPhil it doesn't have that. It doesn't even have the slot in the case for the hoses to come out of the case for the 2t. It runs luke a top but I want to stay on what mix ratio. I haven't owned a 2 stroke. I tore the clutch apart frictions where stuck to the steels with rust. Got those cleaned cleaned the case best I could without tearing the transmission apart and put new oil in. Got a proper spark plug and I was riding it for awhile yesterday. Great bike for 500
Hi. You will have to remove the left crank case cover if you need to remove the worm gear. It has a pin on the plastic gear and a c-clip keeping it in place that can only be accessed from the inside. Please check out the video at 3:32

Hi. Looking at the parts catalog, there area actually 3 different washer thicknesses. 0.3mm, 0.5mm, and 1.0mm. So there is not exact answer to how many washers. These "washers" or shims controls the amount of oil that the pump discharges. More washers and/or more thickness means less oil. So what you want to do is find out if you need more or less 2 stroke oil and adjust the number of washers accordingly.

No. It has nothing to do with the oil pump. The reason the warning lights are lit at neutral is to verify that they are working. Cars also do that.
